-slip knot
-chain 8
-insert hook into first stitch, then do a slip stitch
-chain 4
-3 treble stitches into center loop
-chain 4
-slip stitch back into center loop
-make 4 more petals
cut working yarn, & weave in the ends.

I’ve 49 and never held a crochet hook before today, I tried to follow it and so far my flower looks like a mini potato waffle!! I’m going wrong somewhere. Well done to everyone who made a flower x
Did you ever figure out where you were going wrong? I've watched this video 5 times now and made sure to follow the instructions exactly but mine is coming out a completely different shape. I have no idea where I'm going wrong and it's really frustrating!

This is very helpful! For the first time, i managed to see something real out of my countless tries of crocheting. A half flower though ( i ran out of yarn in the middle of crocheting) but yeah, you get my point. Thank you!

I just successfully made my first flower Watching your video. I had a little trouble figuring out how to hold the flower as I was working and what to do with the tail, but it all worked out. Thank you for going slow. I’ve been crocheting for 2 weeks and was looking for a small project to complete quickly. Very easy pattern.

Wanted to learn this after reading ascendance of a bookworm where the MC crochets a few flowers. This was a great tutorial and even though i failed my first try with uneven petals, i got lucky and it looked like a butterfly after the fourth petal so i figured that was a good place to stop and now i have a nice butterfly! Thank you so much

(for my personal use)
1. chain 6-8 (depending on middle size)
2. slip stitch into 1st stitch on chain
3. chain 4
4. treble stitch into ring 3 times
5. chain 4
6. slip stitch into ring
7. repeat for all 5 petals
8. chain 1
9. snip yarn
10. pull express yarn through & pull slightly down. pull tight
11. weave excess through center circle

I found that if you make the first flower with an 8 chain loop, you can make a second flower the same way, but with a 6 chain loop with 3 petals on it instead of 5! You can place the 3 petal flower on top of the 5 petal flower and it creates a 3d effect!
