  • "Because He Lives" by Bill Gaither is a great gospel classic. Here we work on fill-ins, good bass patterns, and right hand runs to fill in the extra beats between phrases.

Gloria Gaither actually got this song at a time when Bill was sick and God comforted her . She was pregnant at the time . I learned it as a brand new christian and am grateful for such glorious worship.

Hey, can you keep doing these videos? It’s been so helpful. I’m a Church pianist and have been trying to grow - these have been so helpful. It’s making me thinking through how I play my hymns. Thank you so much! -Sarah

Nice, I like that arrangement, I am intimidating by sharps though, so I would much rather play that in A flat, but I have found it written in B flat which works for me also , thanks for the video.I've taught myself to play so this helps

Thank you so much for the tutorials! They are much appreciated! I'm a very visual learner and I struggle to be able to get all the chords and fills just by hearing it. It would be wonderful if you could include the music for this actual arrangement in your shop. I can learn what you are doing pretty easily if I can see it.

  • @AmericaisTheBabylon

hmmmm. Very beautiful but.....It's so hard for the advanced players to teach how to get to their level. They start with beginner stuff, and then in the next instant, they are doing advanced stuff. They leave out the intermediate level completely. I am an intermediate player, I can do basic improv on most hymns, but it sounds kind of plain. For instance I really need teaching on the filler stuff between the melody notes, and the runs and some of your color notes you are adding to fill up the sound. What course would you recommend for me that doesn't take me all the way back to the beginner level? I know all my scales and my arpeggios and my diatonic chords in the keys. I am considering purchasing on of your courses but am not wanting to go back to beginner level stuff.

I'm surprised, Natalie, that you constantly hold down your sustain pedal... which blurs or muddies everything. On the other hand, maybe it sounds fuller to you that way. Just your style or preference?
