    Looked this up because I'm about to coil up my 50 ft extension cord I believe this is the way I do it but over time after it gets shifted around it still gets Tangled the best way to wrap an extension cord is to pay $20 for one of those rollers to put it in

    Roadie Wrap! I've been doing this for a few years now, and you're right, once you get the muscle memory, it comes naturally.

    If the cord is hard to wind, lay it across grass, then wind it. The wires will straighten when pulled

    I don't like throwing the male end like that, eventually breaking the prongs off

    Over-over vs over-under has been a long debate. Movie sets use over-over for power cord. The one thing that is not debatable is the winding. It is always clockwise, never counter clockwise.

    YES LOOKS LIKE YOU USING A NEWER "SOFT THIN CORD" IT'S EASY WITH THAT, WHAT ABOUT AN OLDER THICKER CORD THAT TWISTS WITH EVERY MOVEMENT. I COULD NOT DO THIS WITH THIS OLDER CORD????????

    I couldn’t follow this

      @joemercieca4794 Před 9 měsíci +3

      I am of the mindset that you do something till you get it. Watch other videos of exactly the same technique perhaps described a little differently. If you dont get it one day, give it a rest and try it the next day, watch another video. It gives another perspective. Keep trying and watch as many videos as you can even if it takes you the rest of your life. Im dead serious. With this attitude you will succeed.
      Dont just watch it, slow videos down, and pause them. Over time, what is called the opportunity cost will decrease.
      I had no idea how to even do the over technique. I worked on that first. Once I got it I worked on the under technique. Once I got that it was just a matter of over and under. Keep at it. You fail only when you give up.

      I agree I couldn’t either. If the example was shown in real slow motion I might have gotten it. Then later speed it up.

    • @joemercieca4794
      @joemercieca4794 Před 7 měsíci

      Ok watch the video at full speed and try to understand what he is saying and with a cord in your hand try doing it.
      This is just to familiarise yourself.
      Recognise his editing mucked up the sequence which was silly but the first few efforts are correct.
      You only need to get the over bit
      Once u have that work on the under bit.
      Once finished
      Go to Settings slow down youtube to. 25 speed then try again
      You just need to understand over then under. Do it slowly.
      Once you understand it speed it up subs practise practise practise.
      l had a 75 feet cord which took some times 30 minutes to untangle.
      You have to remember the cord will be difficult because it is untrained.
      The amount of practice l put in trained it so it took a couple of minutes to to roll it up

      @@joemercieca4794 thank you

    One thing he omitted, he is using a trained electrical cord. Anyone who learns this for the first time will be an owner of untrained cords. I stretched out my 75 metre cord first before I tried this. If I did not do this it would be difficult because the cord would not behave. A shorter cord is probably better for beginners.
    Once you get the hang of it there is an advantage in having a long electrical cord.
    Best start with a short electrical cord, then when you have the technique a long one is great for practice. The more you do it also the more your cord will become trained. Consequently the easier it gets. Well trained individual. Well trained cord.

    Dont listen to stage hands. It doesnt really matter how you wind it. If you use it every day like me, it will wear out from normal use way before it will wear out from being coiled wrong

      There's an old saying
      "Do as I say, not as I do"
      Now, if you listened at the start, you would have heard him say over first, then he said under. About 15 or 20 seconds later, he repeated over, under, over, under.
      I listened as I rolled up my 30-foot cord and continued until the cord was fully wound. I then went outside and held one end of the cord. I then tossed the roll of cord out onto the lawn. Lo and behold, 35 feet of neatly unraveled extension cord.
      Pretty simple
      I'm definitely trying this with my 50 and 100 foot cords. I read an article that said garden hoses can be done the same way.

      You need to look closer. The video features something of a replay.
      First, he demonstrates the New Way (2nd and 4th Loops) in a close-up of the 2nd and third loops.
      In the next shot/frame, he has returned to the second loop (New) and is putting on the 3rd loop, which would be traditional (1st and 3rd).
