      Hi, my husband's birthday is coming up and he travels 4 hours to and from work on PA turnpike, I'd like to buy him a dashcam, can u or anyone let me know what dashcam is a good one? I'm looking to spend up to $100. Not much but its what I have put away for his birthday. I want to get him the best one I can and something user friendly. Thanks for any help.

Sure, the Tesla is an ass for trying to skip traffic but it’s not illegal. @@z609gaming As long as it is a mechanical parking brake, it can be used at any speed to slow or stop the car in an emergency. The trick is to modulate the amount of braking applied. I had to do so when the proportipning valve broke on my 88 Grand Marquis. I was coming up behind traffic stopped at a railway crossing in an 80 km/y zone. I was able to stop safely then limp off the road into a parking lot and wait for a tow truck to get home.

      @gnarthdarkanen7464 Před 2 lety +4

      When the loss of a battery causes the vehicle to be terminally crippled (inoperable), it means the alternator/generator is failing... Not enough electricity is being generated to keep the ignition system firing... thus killing the engine and electronics (obviously) when the terminals no longer have DC supply... Thus, if this is the case (I wasn't there/can't argue) the van WOULD have been rendered inoperable eventually anyway.
      Before 1990 or so, in most cars, you could test the alternator simply by starting the engine and then disconnecting EITHER battery terminal. Since the 90's, however, more and more cars became too inter-connected with ECU's and computers to operate at all, so disconnecting the battery terminals causes a power-spike that WILL cripple the computer and cost around $2000 to fix (if you can even find a new ECU/Computer)...
      If you're restoring an oldie... It's okay before 1990... In the 90's, SOME manufacturers still allowed for it... BUT absolutely NEVER disconnect the battery after 2000... JUST take the alternator/generator to a shop and have someone "bench test" it.... OR you can start the vehicle and use SPECIFICALLY A DIGITAL VOLT-METER (or multi-meter) to match the numbers rendered at the battery terminals to the numbers "spec'ed" in a book like a Haynes or Chilton's Guide (complete tear down and rebuild guide) to your car of choice by Make, Model, Year...
