  • Rooibos is a Proudly South African product. Annually more than 20 000 tons are produced - half of which are exported to 60+ countries across the globe. It makes up about 87% of SA’s international tea exports. The biggest importer countries are Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, UK and the US.
Rooibos is the first African food product to receive the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status from the European Union, which identifies and links a product to a specific region, associating its quality and reputation to that area. In Rooibos’ case, it’s the Cederberg region - the only place on the planet where the climate and environment are favourable for growing Rooibos.
The tisane is growing in popularity around the world, given its naturally sweet taste and plethora of health benefits.
If you’re curious about where and how it is farmed, watch this video.

He was speaking Afrikaans. I'm curious how you found out about Rooibos, is it popular where you're from?

@@le-jaunemorgan6563 In Sydney Australia there are generally 2 different brands available in supermarkets. A South African friend introduced me to it and I started drinking it because it has no caffeine. It's not very common but it is around and its cheaper than any other herbal tea.

I dont understand why the market is closed on procuring your own Rooibos seeds to grow.
lt costs $6 -$8 for this supermarket tea and you only get 40 bags per packet.
lf you love your tea it is only enough for 1 person for a week.
