I had a black labrador female.Bubbz that's what we used to call her. I lost her 2 years ago after 11 years of love and bonding.She was a gem of a pooch, we never treated her like a dog,she was more like a lil' sister to me and kid to my parents..No matter what she always loved to be around..jahan bhi jao piche piche aati thi parchayi jaise.Her fav treat was lamb stick so everytime I used to say "lamb stick" she rushed into getting that stick.I remember my dad gifted her on my b'day..He used to take her on night patrolling along with him as he was in police department and she enjoyed that a lot..bhale so rahi ho uth k khadi hojati thi ki "take me with you!take me with you!". Everyone who knows me are of the opinion that i was so obsessed with her as I still love to talk about her and few years back I have got a tattoo done on my sleeve which reads her name in remembrance of her 'cause I always wanted to keep her with me.Life's never been the same without her.People keep on advising me to get a new pooch but i don't feel like getting another 'cause losing her was so hard for me and my family.We miss her like anything.:)

Yes Labradors are one of the most friendly, sporty and caring family members. I am a proud owner of a female lab. She is my heart...they are very homely, and naughty types....when you watch a lab growing, its a lifetime experience....I will recommend everyone to adopt Labrador retrievers...

He doesn't let anyone in the house unless we talk with them! So they're pretty good watch dogs.
did you train your lab to be a good watch dog or it came naturally to your lab?
My lab is nearly 3 months old and it is always happy to see strangers and wags his tail in excitment.

I am a labrador/Golden Retr mix owner and I can vouch for their lovely companionship. But I don't understand the obsession with pure breeds and lineage importance. Dogs are dogs and each one of them is lovely. Breed selection should not be about how pretty the dog is, but if that breed is comfortable in the climate, their energy levels and if you can give them ample exercise. Adopt that cute little puppy left abandoned on the roadside, he will forever be grateful and give you the same love like any other fancy breed would.

Sir you handed the right breed into the wrong hands. Labradors are usually so calm and composed when treated and trained right he is so high on energy clearly shows he don't get enough outings. Most owners in India don't know how to raise a dog even if it's a most basic breed like labra and someday these guys might own pitbull or rott.

Of course you can keep the dog in his normal form. Spaying is not mandatory for dogs.

He is too hefty at 8 months age. Control his diet or will have obesity issues later. Labrador love eating but you should control their diet and they need lot of excercise. They are so lovable and friendly and really a companion dogs.
