Can we all agree that Reptile is a masterpiece?
Yes. The fact that they wrote that ten years proves they still got it, and hopefully more great tunes to come. Too bad the rest of the album doesn’t come even close to it
@@williamiceman9939 just gonna shit on sentient glow in my presence? Lol
Remember when musicians would show up to a gig 2 hours late, drunk/high, and arrogant? It's so refreshing to see guys like Mark and Misha who are so down-to-earth and intelligent, and willing to show you their secrets to help you with your playing. Bravo. I also love his comments about keeping music a hobby if you just don't have the ambition to make it full time in music.
Thats because all the old rock star lifestyle is not only super gay but tired. My cousin went to a slash show and the dude took over an hour past the set time to come out on stage and when he did half the crowd was ready to leave and booed him. All those geezers burned a shit ton of bridges. Its sort of cool to the people back in the shred days when the guitarist was like 20, not nearing 60 still acting like a egotistical douche.
I love that he has a tuner on his headstock but he switches tunings by ear
It's because most of the time all strings detune a little bit but not enough to really sound off if you get the intervals right. So since he really just changes the low E string, he uses the 5th string as a reference point because them sounding good together is more important than all of the strings being 100% in tune if that makes sense.
P4 is a great album. And it followed P3 which was basically perfection and followed Alpha and Omega, one of the best concept albums ever written IMO.
Alpha/Omega is the single greatest piece of music I enjoy listening to from start to finish. I love all of their records but Jug is so damn good and should be recognized by musicians all around the world. It's so much more than just a progressive metal record.
Thanks for posting this! Love Mark, super humble and genuine dude! Periphery as a whole is very much about helping others learn so that we can all enjoy great music from each other. No secrets kept, from Misha's mixing tricks to Nolly's masterclass videos, these guys do it for the music and I respect that so much.

@@jrbaconcheez Almost like Tosin "I have a mechanical (right hand) thumb" Abasi, who has built an new and unique approach to guitar
I still cant believe I went to this and talked to him he such a nice guy. And moore guitars is a very cool store
If I’m honest I’m not a fan of their music genre but I have to say I could listen to Mark talk about guitars and tuning etc for hours. Comes across as a super guy, intelligent and humble … all while being very knowledgeable
Did some guy really hit mark with the FAGDAD tuning meme question? Lmao. I mean, it's actually legit and you could write stuff in that tuning but yeah...not quite as relevant as something like DADGAD is lol.
Also just wanted to say that opening lick in The Way The News Goes is so memorable. Those little quick bends he hits on the 9th and 14th frets just ooooze with feel. That feeling you get when your just improvising over something and you nail the perfect note with the perfect vibrato and all you can do is smile, that's what those little bends do to me as a fellow guitar player listening to the opening lick of this song. My ear hears that and it just geeks me out. Something so simple yet so effective.
killer night, got to meet the dude that keeps my inspiration going day in and day out. big thanks to you guys for hosting this!
I love this guy, so humbled, educated, and super talented.
Best wishes Mark. If you do come back to the tour, London finna be amazing. All the best man
Loveee their haunted shores stuff!
I missed this clinic. I go to Moore Music all the time. This clinic was on my birthday, would have been an amazing present and could have gotten my PRS Mark Holcomb signature Holcomb burst autographed.
Not happy did not get a notification for this clinic 😡 That being said Moore puts on some awesome clinics and is a great store. The staff is friendly and they have awesome gear.
I met Mark at some random bar before a Periphery show, genuinely nice dude!
Him saying ''good boy'' to misha was fucking funny and i needed that
how did i miss this clinic in my own home town? i so wish i would have been there!
Am I the only one who thinks this looks like a stand up/Ted talk/ clinic sorta set up.
What a genuine nice guy. I get a Malcom/Jeff Goldblum vibe from Mark. Just a really wise nice guy
For anyone wondering, he starts Reptile at 17:50
Does it get any better... honestly
❤️
Had to miss it because my friend was getting married, so thank you for posting!
Should have had your friend get married at the event. Mark could have played the first dance.
This crowd is full as hell.
mark holthumb rocks
That MT 15 sounds brutal for 15w.
I played one last weekend and was thoroughly impressed. I’m thinking of getting one and miking it through the PA for gigs. This definitely doesn’t sound like any 15W practice amp I’ve ever heard.
It’s a 55W power amp stage (2x6L6GC) with essentially a step-down transformer to take it down to 15W output, but it retains the sensitivity and clarity of a 50W head.
Very different than a 15W (RMS) solid-state practice amp!
Johnny Johnson so i could actually compare this to my 50w rectifier solo head? Its awesome
Drewjitsu14 the output volume won’t match your 50W Recto, but the amp will feel similar and even sound better than the Recto when you’re playing at reasonable volumes! Have you played the Mini Recto 25W head?
1:12:58 that kind of thing is why u wanna see Periphery shows. Mark Pinchou harmonics r magic
He looks like Brandom Boyd who olay guitar 🤔
all the members of periphery are so fucking underrated. Most people i meet have no idea who they are... smh
this guy is bat shit insane on guitar
21:25 that was a very beautiful tone
and atmospheric effect gave that emotional almost Doom Metal touch
has also that very OST feel to it like if it could be part of the Castlevania or Devil may cry/Resident evil playlist for some very tense Gothic moment
love it,
IF anyone knows the name of the song please do let me know and thanX
his little PRS Inches Joke kinda got me out of nowhere for some dumb reason ?
his wife
XD
God mark Holcomb is such a Chad
I was here😂
What song is he playing around 14:30 ?
Me too bruh...Me too 37:41
There is one major difference with his se model and the production model that was not mentioned. THE NUT. His nut is a graphite replacement, which is a major upgrade.
I purchased one and found the instrument to be so inspiring, but lacked tuning stability. Every note would go sharp and be a bit off.
Slapped a graphtech nut on it and have not had a single issue with this guitar. The model comes with a white plastic nut that cannot maintain heavier gauge strings.
If you get one, save the hassle and switch it ! I love it.
What’s the Song at Minute 40? Sorry I‘m new to his band.
I think my favorite thing is joe he pulls up his phone like a kid in their bedroom
He looks alot like James munky shaffer without the dreads. That said I'm sad I missed this.
Pineapple on Pizza? Fruity pies! Lol
I know most player of this guitar will think doing this is stupid, but how does it do with standard tuning?
Aaron Steele I use it for E Standard and Drop D with 11 gauge strings and it plays great
its a hardtail so any setup will be fine basically string guage will be helpful for standard tuning
@@keonjohnancheta3252 What about the pickups though? I've read that they're specially voiced to be used with downtuning which makes standard sound odd. Not true?

Why is the right channel out of phase when he's playing?
Must be a you thing, nobody else has any idea what you're talking about. Everything sounds in phase. Check your speakers as well as making sure you know what "out of phase" means.
not true, he replaced the nut on his guitar from the stock cheap factory white one. He must have forgot
what string gauge is he using?
@@vejichan he's mentioned how he uses thicker strings live since he tends to pick harder live.
What’d he say his amp was?
At this event he's using a PRS MT-15, but I believe he said he was using Axe FX on tour.
8:53 that was funny
I just clicked to 666 likes. That's gotta mean something. Hail Stan!
Thanx for sharing guys!
Mark is almost genius.

Hell, I don’t even downtune and I like periphery.
Why do you need to downtune to like Periphery? Don't be a gatekeeping neckbeard.
damn, did you just imply that's a crappy venue, mark?? 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏼♂️😂
F
I think Mark has never played any bareknuckle pickup
Him, Jake, and Misha all play each others guitars when they're writing and recording, so Mark plays Misha's Jacksons with both of his signature Bare Knuckles pickups series all the time in the studio. All three of them have their own signature pickups that work well with their playing styles and their picking which then translates really well with Periphery's music.

29:50 what the fuck
Lmfao......it's food! Eat what you wanna eat and I'll eat what I wanna eat, how about that....
I'm starting to think that this video is a PRS advertisement...
Is he drunk? Lol
At least tipsy. If I could play like that when I drink I'd consider it a win
he walked in with a yuengling 12 oz, i would assume he's had a lil sumn sumn already.
I love that "a little bit of Reptile" is the length of a normal song.
