Basically if your vl has a jw sticker on the back window, it's gunna be fast hell and leave straight as a tape measure haha
Still blows me away to see straight sixes getting numbers i would expect from v-eights...
I used to love working on these in the Holden dealership in 1986 - just serviced them and that was mostly all they needed. Some of the 4 speed autos would burn out the high/reverse clutch pack, which was due to improper selector adjustment. I was one of only a few Holden dealer mechanics in Victoria who could repair the autos. Great cars, with rust under the windscreens and parcel shelfs being their enemy!
And then a few yeras later all the heads started cracking thanks to the brilliant holden engineers. The r31 is the better car.
I got old Datsun 240z's which have the L-series which are super durable and take abuse. The RB30 was based on the same bore spacing etc..I've now got an RB26 and hope it will be just as reliable if I treat it right.
A friend had a VL turbo in the late 90s. Great motor, but the chassis was a handful with that power and it was dangerous on 12 psi with a single spinner diff..
@@aussieguy1012 definitely not the better car but the better radiator setup haha
@@ADayInTheLifeOfJames ahaha spot on. I was taught that during my apprenticeship for Nissan 😅 there was an uproar about the engine design when in fact it was the radiator set up. Once Holden fixed that, boom it was like gold again
Had a R31 Skyline wagon over 15 years ago, with the RB30 and a Trust T78 strapped to the side of it. Bitsa ECU to run it, untuned & not dynoed ran almost 10 flat.
That's bloody Insane. Miss my old vl
Mid 8's at Heathcote is no joke, awesome car.
Gotta love the VL
Wow...so effortlessly 👌🏻
His turbo is gonna blow up I could hear it dumping while he was making the pass
Awesome insane...love it.
The chassis set up is spot on. It’s drives straight out of the hole.
Afco’s are worth every cent.
Just insane what a sweet pacakge
Surprised that noone else noticed the duct tape oil cap
Killa mate killa
Hey fullboost would you be able to do a video compiling runs from exotic/ European cars over the last year or two? I'd be really interested in a vid like that
mental car
NICE
Nice
The ash tray was never a factory fault until 160mph
is my hearing gone or did it say RB36??
I also heard RB36, I assumed stroked RB30 to 3.6L = RB36. Thought jeez that's a massive step up in displacement, must be a hectic crankshaft and a really thick head gasket 😂
Such a simple set us. Sounds great and goes like fuck.
Nice job!
cool
Rocker cover it not the stock one .must have big cam and aftermarket rocker arms .because the rocker arm need more room to move even with just a big cam you’ll run into this issue
It had to have more flow through the head or it wouldnt make that power.
0:26 Wtf is a rb36?
" lightweight chassis" for the VL but the VN is the lightest commodore produced.
No, hear fine. Haven’t heard a Barra that sounds good. Rb definitely has it covered for sound. Think you miss understood me. Unless you think Barra’s sound good.
Please explain to an American how you can run consistent sub 8.50's w/ such a basic cage. Do the tracks just not give a fuck or what ?
What is wrong with the roll cage? From memory you do not require a head capsule until you run sub 7.5s.
throw the LS... holdens run faster with a 6... even better with a barra :)
8 sec quarters and 8 secs to spool his turbo... BTW not a real BT1 its no canary yellow brah
Fullboost I'm just trolling.. Why you gotta ruin my fun i noticed he bumped in against the vk even though he red lit
And it's single cam, what a beast
Never get tired of hearing an RB screaming on boost.. 🤤🤤
