Bmth hope on trends before they’re even trends lol
Exactly
What does that mean they're trendsetters
@@eternallife9786he meant like they do something they like as best as possible and hope to make a trend
one thing i always assumed that ur interview with jordan confirmed was that ollie puts actual thought into his writing i think thats a big part of their success they put effort into everything element even when most of the people in the genres theyve experimented with havent learned from it and kept evolving. Also as a fellow straight man who just acknowledges oli is attractive he did a photoshoot in a maid outfit thought u might want this info finn @@FinnMckentyPRMBA
Then they start them lol
It’s amazing how BMTH are still relevant with this generation and feel like they’re part of the new crop of Metalcore bands.
They were part of the MySpace scenecore scene with bands like Suicide Silence, The Devil Wears Prada, Attack Attack, Asking Alexandria
They were part of that second wave of popular scene bands more akin with Tumblr in the mid 2010s like Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, Of Mice & Men
They were doing the Octane-core thing before bands like I Prevail, Architects, and Wage War jumped on that
Now they feel just as relevant with the current generation of Metalcore bands like Spiritbox, Bad Omens, and Sleep Token
Yep. It's amazing.
pretty mindblowing
Mfs are A.I, prove me wrong!!
ye but I think that bmth have gradualy become less unique in their sound ever sinse "thats the spirit" in 2015 I find myself I listening to their music from 2004 - 2013 (which i prefer so this might b a bit biast) I find that they sound alot like other bands and groups that are more popular sinse around 2015. And especialy living in the uk i never meet people who talk about anything recent in their disgografy. I find that theirs more individuality with their older stuff. For example Listening to count your blessings theirs a noticible difference compaid to other deathcore bands. And even with Metalcore for example su151de season sounds very different to the stuff asking alexandria and other metalcore bands where coming out with
Wow...dont like the band much....but I agree 😂😂
And here’s Uncle Finns, “HERES THE THING” pep talk 😂😂💪🏽 🔥
Yeah a good example is that BMTH worked with skrillex on there is a hell and on an edm remixes album of suicide season songs all right before the big 2010s edm craze
Wasn't aware of it, but makes sense
Just listened to the new BMTH songs. Honestly I like that they still try all kinds of metal, the Deftones-y Limousine rally stands out no matter how you slice it.
yeah its great
Not even deftones, that song is straight up SYNC.wav by Moodring
@@_nuclearnoodle_5757bring me had that written before Moodring did
@@_notofthisearth proof?
That song takes heavy “inspiration” from SYNC.wav by Moodring.
That Knocked Loose take makes sense in the context of just Coachella, but they've gained 600k monthly listeners since their album released. That's huge!
They had like a pop up show out here in LA at a sizable venue. Announced it like a day or two before and tix were gone in seconds. But I’m sure a lot of bands of their elk could pull that off.
BMTH don't follow trends, they set trends
What’s impressive about BMTH is that after 20 years, they’re still reaching their peak.
Fred Durst completely owned the stage at Woodstock, but during the buildup before the huge release moment in Break Stuff he sounds like a Cody raging at his mom for getting him Crash Team Racing instead of Crash Bandicoot Warped.
They bash them for changing sounds then bash them for changing sound in general
My band played at the local stage at a county fair. Weird Al played the night before on the main stage. I still say Weird Al opened for us.
back in the early 90s, my crappy band opened for another local band with someone named "Rodman" in it. the local rumor mill turned that into a claim that our band opened for the Rollins Band, and we did not correct that mistake.
Metal and hardcore bands don't get many spots at Coachella and festivals like that. So the metal and hardcore bands that do play festivals like that such as Knocked Loose, Lorna Shore, etc. have much more mainstream recognition than bands that don't. No one claims they're Bad Bunny, but they are claiming they have a lot more recognition than other metal and hardcore bands.
There not trend hoppers they are the trend they set the trend
😂😂😂😂😂!!!!!
I really hope this is sarcasm.
@@parisite99 well if it is sarcasm or it isn't am I wrong
No they don’t lol. Never have.
@@anti-liberal7167 Yup.
BMTH is one of the few “heavy” music projects that has been able to adapt to the current market in an optimal way without leaving aside the Metalcore essence that showed them to the world, because when they played Deathcore they were not accessible to everyone, it was very abrasive music. The current work is very good, a very well worked sound and combined to perfection with other musical aspects.
Recent works tries really hard to appeal to edgy goth kids who aspires to be vampires imo. lol It's not that bad but i feel like it's kinda try hard to stay relevant to a certain demographic. Kinda works for them either way so..
i hate being born after their deathcore era🙏🤦🏻 i will never get to see them play a lot like vegas live. hopefully one of the post human albums have some deathcore
New album is class
Either amen or dig it are probably my favorites off the new album!
Remove the “c”
@@tbzombi3950 new album is lass
@@tbzombi3950new album is LASS
@@benlewis2514 I messed it up 😞
Agree with the comment in chat that BMTH’s song with Amy Lee is underrated
Excited to dig into BMTH's new album tonight! Should be litty like a mothereffing tiddy!
Did you enjoy my man?
@@mathewackroyd5255 I thought the singles were mostly good, besides Strangers and Die4U. Also Die4U came out 3 years ago, which is ridiculous. And the non-singles were mediocre IMO besides RIP
BMTH do what great artist always do. Take influences from lot of places and create something interesting. Metal become boring when band only listen to the same stuff. Amoeba “whats in my bag” proof this, great metal artist listen to many artist and genre. Not just the same stuff they play
Chester and Corey were much better frontmen of the nu metal era than ol Freddy D in my opinion
*Corey* definitely, Chester I got doubts, he didn't exhibit that level of Energy
@@SIRebrumI need to watch more of Corey live I guess, I haven't seen much that would indicate he is a high energy front man. Aside from his music of course.
Crazy talk
@@Thesilverfist62 You really need to watch more lol, watch his Recent Show with *Slipknot* where they had a New Drummer as well, he was all Energy.
@@SIRebrum not energy, but sheer ability to get his crowd engaged. I feel like presence, not energy is what Chester had that made him incredible live.
The vocalist for blessed by a broken heart was working at my local Guitar Center around that same time
Bring me the Ska-rizon and I'm here for it. So is Jake Peralta
Stop or my mom will Ska
Thanks for the upload man. Work has been killer and dull. Love hearing your voice. 😩😬😬
It's same vibe as people were calling Linkin Park trendhoppers just because they went pop for One More Light lol
I think AI will make the oversaturation problem even worse, as it is going to lower the bar to make music somehow even lower than it already is.
13:06 I love how the hot take references P2 but that song is from P3
I'm liking this before Finn even stated his case 😂
109 likes and only 1 dislike? Finn's fanbase might be starting to mature.
Down thumb just because
Being a huge Fred Durst fan is NOT a sign of intelligence or maturity! 😂
Thanks for another video on a modern band, even though I know nu-metal pays the bills. (Of course you got in n.m. content at the beginning of the video.)
9:40 bro is tooooo right, i got like 20+ metal core specific bands on my apple music and they mostly sound the same, its like old thrash metal where the best bands are the ones who evolve the sound/stand out with amazing instrument play and vocals
the exact same thing happened back in 2019 it’s like i’m travelling along with them
My hot take, when a band gets big and starts having lights and stage design, you should still actually PERFORM! I hate seeing bands when they play small clubs with incredible stage energy grow to the next level and forget how to put on a performance and not rely on smoke and lights
"In the dark" was a country song
Pop metal the next big trend?
Ratt would like to know your location.
I think actually Frederick's can singing like my way or Behind Blue Eyes
Music isn't the only media that is oversaturated currently. I think all media is oversaturated- music, books, movies, TV shows, podcasts, etc. Better tech and easier access has allowed a large percentage of bad and undercooked media to reach the mass audience in a way never seen before. I think a new better definition of good or some threshold for gatekeeping may actually be good or even great for media overall.
My wife's college literature professor had a generally profound thing he said that she loves to repeat- "Everyone has a book in them. Not everyone's needs to be written."
Someone didn’t see the headline that knocked loose was trending higher than Taylor swift on Spotify when their new album dropped
Bmth were 'copying'/going for Deftones in Youtopia from their latest album
Most of these y2k “rock” bands are just dumb trend hoppers. I mean 99% of them were doing dubstep, edm and stadium rock in 2010s
Calling bands trendhoppers is such an immature and lame way to describe a band
Spotify needs a Purevolume.
BMTH goes country...
Please... DON'T.... CALL IT ...
everyone is chasing a dingwall bassist yes finn lol
But don’t the record labels still exist as gatekeepers? Can’t you still just pay attention to whatever a label puts out and listen to that?
There being so much new music which then equates to quantity over quality at least on the surface is probably why so many music listeners are heading back to the classics when music was easier to keep up with
If you want to know how big a band really is, just check out how many monthly listeners they have on Spotify.
BMTH released CYB when I was in 6th grade. Didn’t listen to them till I was 22 and only was listen to That’s the Spirt and Sempiternal but over time started to open my to There is and Suicide Season and now their one of my top two bands
BMTH set the tone and pave the way then the rest of the bands play catch up for years.
Maybe the only trend they hop on is that period were everyone were collaborating with Mick Gordon, but even this is like reeeally streching it. In the end their biggest strength is to look at trends outside of metal and go like 'that's cool, let's make this but in our way'
Our parents listened to the same record everyday for a year or two because that's what was good in that style at that time. Now we’re looking endlessly for something good/different in the over-diluted pool of music.
I think it's great people still talking about BMTH and their last album out of two ever came out way back in 2008. That's downright legendary.
Wow very cool and funny
Bring Me The Horizon are trend setters, not trend hoppers, I would know because I’m trying to start a career making “Hypermetal” or “Metal-Pop”
Behemoth get huge crowds at emo festivals
I'm not much of a fan of BMTH at all,but I think this is objectively the correct take. Those 3 bands are the boat that makes the waves everyone else is surfing on now.
Bring me the horizon used to be trend setters but now they are trend hoppers. Ever since post human survival horror they are just following the trends
No...the labels as gatekeepers is NOT a good thing. Their assessment of whether or not certain music is good is solely based on how much money they think they can make. Popularity is not an indication of quality.
I feel like A LOT of the hate against BMTH would go away if all the rock and metal media stopped fawning over every single thing they do.
The new EP is so awesome! 🤟🏾🤟🏾
Being 100% transparent, I ran the video because of the click bait title. I was ready for war and that's saying something as I normally don't argue on the internet as there exists nothing more pointless. In saying that, I am happy I stayed for the entire video. You have nuanced opinions and more importantly, well informed opinions and that keeps me watching. I don't always agree with you, but I always respect the effort you put into your videos and it's obvious to anyone with a pulse that you do your research, and you love music which, imo, makes you a dependable source for information. Thanks for being genuine.
I remember seeing them when they supported 18v and they had that death metal/fashioncore sound, Then Olly sykes started doing a frank carter impression because gallows were big. So fashioncore- copying 18v more hardcore- copying when gallows, dead swans that whole brighton punk thing was big, I'd tend to disagree they do jump on other peoples bandwagon. Fortunately back in the day they had julie weir helping them out who ran a label but was also a music journalist so she very much had the finger on the pulse of the developing trends, check any of her interviews on youtube look at the bands she worked with bmth, bfmv and umm the one that messed up hard.
I know Linkin Park isn’t a metalcore band, but damn lots of these newer metalcore songs sound LP-influenced
Yay! There’s audio this time!
Terend setters. There i fixed it for ya
My uncle was a fan of GG Allen back in the day. He attended his funeral.
Fred Durst is an elite frontman. He has the entire crowd in the palm of his hand every time. LB are the ultimate party rock band ❤️
I honestly have to disagree with the Fred Durst vocal ability assessment. His dynamics are actually amazing.
Would throw up in excitement if bmth did a DnB or jungle influenced album
Fred Durst vs Chino is a stupid comparison. Fred would look stupid fronting Deftones with that energy and Chino would look awkward fronting Limp Bizkit. This would be like comparing Dave Mustaine to Anthony Green
Trend hoppers? Lmao they’ve been consistently ahead of the trend for their entire career.
Re: record label gatekeepers and 60K a day on Spotify - There are new gatekeepers now, too. That's how anyone rises above the noise. The new gatekeepers are also riding the ability to publish their thoughts/opinions and find an audience as a reviewer or music journalist (always IMO more influential than record label promotion, what the labels used to control was access to recording technology) or what have you without needing to be platformed by legacy media. They are people like Fantano and, dare I say, you.
Talks about P2, proceeds to play a song from P3.
Thoughts on new knocked loose album?
A whining chicken
I didnt see any videos uploaded this morning from you and got all nervous I wouldn't get to hear the hot takes of the week. Now i can satisty my fix, danke
I’d argue that BMTH sets the trends more often than not. How many albums came out from 2014-2020 that sounded exactly like Sempiternal?
Let me put an end to the conversation that record labels should be the gatekeepers again. The way things are now, YOU get to choose and filter out your own music. I don't want to go back to the way it was on this one
BMTH are so far ahead of the game, most bands are still trying to replicate the sound of an album BMTH released 9 years ago.
I think social media and Spotify hurt no name no fanbase artist more then it helps them sometimes. I’ll be on a pop punk group on Facebook someone will send me there song say “hey me and my band made a really cool pop punk song where from Seattle please check us out since you like knuckle puck” I’ll listen to it and it’s trash like unlistenable trash the vocals are garbage, lyrics are bad, production is horrible, song writing is bad and playing is bad. But I don’t know what to say to them like on one hand you don’t want to be mean but on the other they won’t ever learn if you are always nice to them. I think that’s a huge issue
BMTH has definitely changed it up and jumped "trends" a lot but I definitely agree they're actually the trendsetters for the most part. I just bought one of their more recently designed shirts that literally reads "TRUE NORTHERN POP METAL" on the back. lol
Perhaps the real Chino is the Fred durst we made along the way. Have a great day everyone.
Fin can you make one of your world famous tier lists but its about caps, considering you alwasys have one and they r the goat of hat types
Fred Durst is the best musician of playing with a lot of festivals and Bad Bunny too
Wow, completely forgot about Blessed by a Broken Heart. I remember liking the song from that video in highschool
It'd be a real shame if someone raged on your bait
hey, how does the submission work?
Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for the undisputed kings of "hey this is Deftones / generic hyperpop / whatever the fuck we decided to shamelssly copy this time... BUT IT'S BMTH!" 🎉🎉🎉
This is the band that somehow manages to stay on top of the alternative scene despite providing absolutely 0 added value, or coming up with something original. I'm not too surprised Finn goes gaga for them though... they're popular amongst normie NPCs, and that tends to be the single most important metric for him.
They arent trendhoppers they just do what the fuck they want because its their band not yours.
Trendhoppers!?!? They set the trend don’t get it twisted.
Corey Taylor was the best frontman of that era 1000%
I watched Knocked Loose last night in the Agora sold out show. It was fucking epic.
There's a reason Bring Me has become one of the biggest metal acts in the world, without having all the mainstream media push them like thrash or nu-metal was pushed. They are just that good and interesting. Even if you don't love metalcore, they will get your attention and put out something everyone will enjoy.
@11:43 I'm just grateful music is free or really cheap. I remember spending 100 bucks on half a dozen CD's. Thankyou internet
I definitely don't think it was better when less people were able to record and release music. Sure, there was just less music overall, and the floor of quality was better. But there are also truly good artists who have access to the tools they need to make and release their music without needing industry backing. To me it's worth having to sort through mediocre if you are able to find people making great music. People who might not have had the chance to because they didn't have the right connections, or they legitimately don't have the money to book a studio to record those first demos.
im 18 (gen z (unfortunatly)) and i think nu metal is just ok
God I fucking hate Architects.. I get Sam has been long time homes with Oli. But every album they release sounds like a copy of a BMTH, except they don't understand what BMTH does that makes them BMTH
Bmth just channeling the worst aspects of deftones and pop on this new record. Very disappointing listen
And that’s like LP’s best song The best frontman, what about Chester? More “noise” means more opportunities.
I strongly believe this band will continue to stay relevant until they are ready to officially call it quits. I cannot think of another band that has successfully stayed relevant and attractive to each upcoming generation of "core" fans since their inception almost 20 years ago at this point.
A Day to Remember is the only other band I can think of that has done as well but BMTH always go one step further each record cycle raising the bar and setting the next trend.
If somebody were ever to actually sum up their career correctly in a sentence, I never thought it would have been Finn. I've been saying that for years. BMTH are brilliant businessmen but that's about it.
Are you one of those weird people who just hate-watches me?
Comparing Fred and chino is so stupid. Why?
Make country uncool again!
By that logic Fred Durst is a superior frontman to people like Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley and Chris Cornell.
Watching Joe Rogan religiously is NOT a replacement for a personality!.
