    A note for anyone watching this later on: Black Jackets now get to keep their Constand Recovery, but with a penalty to the healing done. This makes the Black Jacket a lot more viable as a choice overall, even though they are still facing heavy competition from the unkitted Fighter.

    Devoted (Fighter) or Barbarian (Berserker) seem like a fun multiclass option with Rogue (Streetfighter) to go close and engange a lot of enemies at once, and the pirate-flavor makes the "Swashbuckler" or "'Marauder" multiclass name fit a PoE2 main character too.
    As Devoted/Rogue [Swashbuckler] I would pick Two Weapon Style with Defender style stance focusing on dual wielding either hatchets or sabers (depending on if you want 'classic pirate' or 'norse raider' flavor) and you can decide to focus more on criticals or weapon penetration, plus the Fighter's speed improving Armored Grace works nicely while dual wielding Rogue multiclassing (using light or heavier armor). Here the idea is to pick abilities that increase your amount of engaged enemies and masacre them up close and personal (and ignore most of their armor damage reduction).
    This works well instead of an Unbroken option which would also focus on egagement/disengagement focus with a shield.
    As Berserker/Rogue [Marauder] you want to go deep & alone into the enemy lines as you could hit your allies with Carnage and while risky the similar ability combo as above (due to lower speed/armor) with a Berserker it will feel like fighting enemies in paper armor due to penetration.
    The Rogue side of this build gives a lot of nice ability choices and most work well with the char concept, and I suggest you to look into Hearth Orlan as race for it (despite the -1 to Might) due to its nice racial bonus Minor Threat increasing critical chance. For added flavor pick either Deadfire/Slave or Deadfire/Raider(Pirate) origin.
    If your char in PoE1 absorbed the souls during Undying Heritage (Gift of the Machine: +1 Might +5% Max Endurance/Health) and sacrificed Durance (never liked the guy, would either go on witch hunt against innocents or suicide at the end of story anyway) which grants a +5% Endurance/Health bonus works well for such an Orlan. Sacrificing the Mass Murderer 'Devil of Caroc' for +1 Armor Penetration works too. They aren't returning characters for PoE2 as far I know and both have 'meh' story conclusion if you don't sacrifice them anyway.
    Watching these videos helped me decide on this melee martial-type build, but first I finish the campaign my original transfer save char from PoE, a Cipher orlan ex-slave girl whom I multiclassed into Rogue (wished during PoE1 already that I could do that) who wields a bow & dual wields daggers. For a 'Marauder' or Swashbuckler build I might try a different race like Aumaua to have a nordic inspired huge blue guy rage and fight with two axes.

      Yeah currently using a multi class streetfighter rogue and devoted fighter. Using the rogue passives with the fighters abilities

    I went with a Devoted fighter wielding an Estoc. With a Legendary Estoc, using the modal, my penetration is 18 lol, then with a chanter to cast "The Shield Cracks", it's essentially 20. Furthermore, I can use the Fighter's 1 Discipline ability that adds 25% dmg and 4 Penetration to reach 22 Penetration, and further increasing it by another point when flanking the enemy, and yet another when hitting the enemy with the Mace's modal from another character. Overall, I have found that my fighter Over Penetrate's with every single attack, getting a free 30% dmg boost to literally every strike I make. It's absolutely insane when combined with a Rogue's sneak attack, if you are to multiclass. Estoc is the shit

    I don't think the information regarding the Devoted sub-class regarding shields is accurate. (or at least not anymore as of current build of 3.0.2) I tried to make a Devoted Fighter thinking to use a Short Sword and shield as their set up. However, when I equipped the shield I not only lost accuracy from the fact that it was a medium shield (innate accuracy reduction from that type) but I also lost the 10 accuracy for not equipping a "weapon" I was proficient at.
    Shields count as weapons from what I can tell, so if you run Devoted, be very sure of what style you want to go, but understand that Sword and Board as Devoted is probably out of the question. Unless you can get more proficiencies later on somehow.

    I'm sad this video didn't go over the benefits of gunslinging with Black Jacket.

    • @joriandrake
      @joriandrake Před 6 lety +1

      I just barely started to actually play PoE2, but in PoE1 all guns, even pistols requered both hands, but based on your comment I guess in PoE2 you can now dual wield pistols?

    • @mawillix2018
      @mawillix2018 Před 6 lety

      joriandrake you can not only wield two guns, but using Black Jacket, you can easily swap between sets of guns after firing, to skip the reload animation. This let's you get a ton of shots off consecutively, for a ton of burst damage.
      Similar* to equiping a Blunderbuss on a Barbarian and using Heart of Fury in PoE1.
      *Both are bursts of damage and bypass(ed) reload time.

    black jacket seems terrible at a glance... My only thought on the class is that it might be intended as a gun bunny. Quick switching to avoid reload times in the beginning of the fight.

    A dual wielding barbarian, fighter (devotet) could get a nasty critt multyplier 🤔🤔
    And carnage ontop of it.

    Would a devoted monk be viable? Buying this game this weekend and right now it’s between that and a monk paladin/monk priest

      Tribe65 Devoted + Monk is pretty good. I'm currently using Devoted Fighter / Na. Monk with an Arquebus for long range, and fists up close.

    I have a question wit the devoted, I just strted playing, took long enough to create the toon, but when nonwhere in the character creation there is the "pick" for the devoted bonus, so when I wake up from dead I got an auto -10 penalty with my default "weapon soul"..... Where will I choose that devoted proficiency weapon?
    Christ....

      It is, but if that doesn't appeal to you, at least on a first playthrough (like me), you can play on an easier difficulty, and not have to study so hard to create the perfect build. You can just make your build what you think sounds fun, and then set the difficulty accordingly to match your preference.
      That said, you can also pick a sub-optimal build for the sack of role-playing and keep the difficulty setting high.
