Idk how to feel about this version of Jonathan... he’s too soft. They needed to follow the books more. The last “Jonathan” (Sebastian) was wayyyy better, and I know this is his “true” version, but they messed up on this guy’s appearance so bad 🤦🏼‍♀️

I don't know i never read the books but the other Jonathan (Sebastian) was way handsome and had more chemistry with Clary than Jace. So every one sympathized and this new one is creepy so not everyone enjoys...

Inês I mean, don’t get me wrong, this guy is ok. But the Jonathan that fans who’ve read the books know that the guy is blonde (way more blonde than Jace), tall, muscular and extremely intimidating. This actor who is portraying Jonathan is scrawny, boyish, and soft. I’m definitely not getting any hybrid-demon vibes from him, that’s for sure.

@@ivory_diety8463 I saw he's going to have white blonde hair in the final episodes. I mean i get what you're saying because Jace
has the strongest physical aspect but that doesn't mean anything at all you know against a demon... Idk

Inês no yeah I totally get that strength means nothing when you’re up against a hybrid demon, it’s the training that gets you along. Idk. I guess I just hoped that they would follow the books a bit more (because otherwise they are pretty spot on with the character’s appearance, except for Valentine), and I was... let down by this actor’s portrayal of Jonathan because he’s the type of character that needs some strong representation. And I wasn’t feeling it with this actor.
Edit: I forgot to add on that it isn’t just the “looks” that I’m dissatisfied with, it’s the overall portrayal. Like, Jonathan was cruel in the books, calculating, and ruthless. I mean, if you are a fan of the books and have read them, then you would know that he does more than just sneak peeks at Clary, he full on basically threatens to rape her during a fight. This is the intimidation tactic that the actor is lacking I wish we could see more of on screen (not the “almost rape” scene, but the cruel, ruthlessness I was talking about).

I agree, because despite everything he has done, Jonathan has been raised by the worst Nephilim ever, she should’ve tried to have the bond with the brother she never knew she had, Jonathan was raised by a monster, and that’s not his fault

...the books. In the books he tried raping her...besides, this bond is supposed to be with jace and jonathan at this time. I might not be familiar with the show, but i know the books

I don't think you'd get along that easily with a murderer brother who has freakin demon blood and is sexually attracted to you. Also, the Jonathan from the series is way softer than the Jonathan from the books. Here he still has some redeeming qualities, while in the books he's a complete psycho, from what I've heard.
