Our situations are very similar! My MacBook was financed through Best Buy using the same deal and it remains a vital tool in my everyday life. Solo travel has also been one of my BEST investments. Your videos, among those of others, inspired me to solo travel to Japan in 2018. I fell in love with the country and made another solo visit in September of this year! I traveled around the country for nearly three weeks and it was amazing.

Your solo travel stories was one of the many reasons I ended my relationship of 13 years just a few weeks ago. My boyfriend would never allow me to solo travel. In fact there were many things he did not want me to do. I realized that it wasn’t necessarily solo traveling that I wanted it was traveling in general. I wanted more of it instead just once a year to the same place. And I did get to go to some places with my best friend but he never wanted me to go. Like I said. Many other reasons I needed to change my life and let him go.

jessicaaaturbox3 awww thank you. It was hard but in the end I need to be happy. Not try to make people happy or please them. I need to start with myself and if I meet someone else in the future it will be a great person not trying to hold me back. He’ll be an asset and support me in every way. As I will him. I turned 40 this month and it really was time to change and start living. I know I should have ended it sooner but it took me a quite long to realize this was going to make me miserable.

My best purchase was definitely the tickets for a 3 month solo trip to Tanzania and Malawi. I left 10 days after my high school graduation. I did! I saved for the initial expenses and always make sure I have some rainy day money in case of unexpected vets bills which (he’s almost two) there have been a couple, but in terms of feeding him, I give him what my vet recommends, he’s a small dog so doesn’t eat much, being a poodle grooming is expensive so I would say overall it probably costs me less than £50 a month on average to keep him including fleaing, worming, food, treats , grooming, etc and most expenses and that’s just so worth it to me. I would rather go without a new lipstick or a few extra drinks out one evening and have him because he brings so much joy to my life :)

Really interesting to watch. Love your shorter hair-- it suits you! I think most of my purchases of material things weren't really important at all. It's the travel experiences that meant the most! Except for my REI raincoat that I bought before traveling Europe. It had an interior pocket where I could put my wallet and keep it safe. I achieved the length earlier this year and now I have the itch to cut it but it took years (I started at shoulder length). I’m thinking a new cut for the new year. In my 20’s my best purchases were my first dslr camera (I’m now a pro photog) and probably my first child as her birth cost $$$. Lol. I honestly wish I could’ve saved more. Especially in the last few months, I feel like your videos have really helped me think about what's significant to me and what I want to focus on as I get closer to 30. My trip to London last month! I come from a large family that rarely travels and have always wanted to go to Europe (expensive country). Me and my sister are constantly browsing the internet, looking at tickets and Airbnb prices, trying to convince our family to come along as they’d never let us go alone. Then one day in September my sister was online and found cheap tickets to London ($400 round trip). After researching more about London (the hotels, weather, who’d come with us) our trip was booked! Since money was a bit tight, I paid for the entire trip knowing that my mom and sister would eventually pay me back. It was a great investment because the experience I had was priceless! I’ve never had so much fun and seen so much beautiful and historical landmarks. This inspired me to just go and travel; stop thinking of excuses and book that trip!

I live in Canada, my North Face parka was just north of $600 as well, it’s hands down the most expensive clothing item I own, but the most useful and practical. While I didn’t but my MacBook (it was a gift) I have had it since I was 18, I’m 26 now and it’s still going strong. Some things are worth the money.

My hiking boots, these were the first motivation to get me out of my comfortzone. I suffer with a chronic illness, I've always believed I couldn't do much. But with these shoes, I've noticed they give me enough strenght to do things. Since then, my number one partners in crime since 2011.

For expensive purchases, you should consider driving up a couple hours to Vancouver from Seattle! I have cousins in Seattle and when they come to visit me across here, they also make their expensive purchases in Canada because the dollar is at an advantage for you all :)

Fellow minimalist here, but I relate to so much of what you speak of, actually I have naturally curly hair, I have fought it all my life since my teens, blow drying, flat ironing, well during the pandemic, I decided to go with my natural curl, and it has been liberating, and for the first time, I feel like the real me, so your right about cutting your hair, I feel same way

So far I would say my computer, my used car (my first car that I purchased myself after years of not having one!) and a trip 2 years ago to Italy/the Netherlands with my friend during my last year of college. On the horizon, I am hoping to purchase a home with my partner and go on more trips (I haven’t been out of the country or on a really vacation since the trip during my last year of college), especially ones out of the country, before my 20s are over. Love that you are solo traveling, that’s so inspirational for me!
    EDIT:
I would also say that purchasing concert tickets, especially going to a concert by myself for the first time, have been among some of my greatest purchases. :) and tattoos that I have purchased for myself because they have made me feel more comfortable and beautiful in my body.

Just make sure to off gas your mattress to get rid of the VOCs since we do spend so much time on our mattresses; they are laden w various chemicals like formaldehyde and flame retardant chemicals which are known to cause cancer and nervous-system disorders.
Assuming you didn’t purchase an $8,000 organic mattress like I did which was one of my favorite purchases.

A new mattress!! After old childhood mattresses, college dorm "mattresses", and using my brother's old college mattress in my first apartment...yeah, my back was angry. After constantly have back aches/spasms and neck problems (also invested in a pillow!), I dropped $1k-ish on a mattress and have ZERO regrets!

I’m very late to comment because I was away on another trip! (Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia) I’m so glad I’ve had the courage to start travelling frequently, two summer holidays in one year is truly life goals for me ☺️ and I’m only 22! Aside from that, my best purchases of the year are.. new nike runners because I really enjoy a 5km run most afternoons, my iPad to start drawing digitally for design at uni, and my braces because I’ve always wanted good teeth 😊

my kitchen aid mixer. sounds wierd, but I really bake so much and I was always kinda thinking I had to wait till i was making a steady income or had my own house, but then I thought "but wait, I bake now and I am going through all those crappy cheap mixers and what if I wont bake anymore in a few years because life changes? I dont want to which I had this thing everytime I am baking". my mom is using it too and we both love it and it made my baking so much easier and better. and it had like a 10 year warranty and it is a high quality product
