the Tenseigan probably needs a certain amount of chakra to keep it activated which is why it turned off when Toneri lost, because he was out of chakra.
But for an Otsotsuki reserving Chakra is meaningless. They have I'ven more Chakra than the Senju and Uzumaki clans together. So I don't see possible the "running out of Chakra as an explanation"

This is my explanation to why Toneri "lost" his Tenseigan after his defeat:
He didn't lose it, it was just turned off. Like how the Sharingan turns off. Hanabi couldn't then activate it cause she doesn't posses Otsotsuki chakra.
I think if he had otsutsuki chakra he would've kept his tenseigan
Considering the eyes were Hanabi's in the first place and not his, this makes sense.
Yeah I’d argue that the tenseigan is a lot like the sharingan in the sense they can be both turned off. This is even more evident as we don’t see hamura with the tenseigan even though we know he has it

Hamura has two side descendants, one is "Otsotsuki", another is the Human descendants aka Hyua clan.
But it doesn't make sense HOW Hamura even manage to have pure blood "Otsotsuki" descendants though. Like maybe one male & female of Hamura children are more Otsotsuki than human despite their mother SHOULD be Human, since there's only female in Earth unless Hamura is making baby with his mother..?
And his descendants legit have to keep breeding each other... it's just a really screw up place...

Not entirely, I think they need the clan's specific chakra to activate. Hanabi does not have their chakra so it doesn't activate.
Most likely we are all over searching stuff that they did not want to be search, which doesn't make sense.

Video idea: Worst Naruto Filler
Everything after the Pain arc. That filler arc with Sora was kind of cool, some of the filler afterwards (Bijuu related stuff) was alright, and all the stuff between the end of Part 1 and Part 2 was just to give us something until Part 2 started. There's also the Kakashi's Mask episode and those few episodes between that and Sasuke Retrieval. Ever other filler was meh and just there to pad the series out.
i liked the Power filler Arc, six episodes titled Power part 1-6, and Tsunades vision in the Infinite Tsukuyomi was at least interesting, and some of the original Naruto filler at the end of the series would have absolutely been cool enough to call back to and make cannon in Shippudin, but they never did

There was a character named Raiga (I think) who was from one of those filler arcs and was canonized at some point in Shippuden. He was one of the 7 Swordsmen of the Mist and wielded the twin lightning swords. I think Swagkage went over him in his 7 Mist Swordsmen video.

I think the Tenseigan reverting back worked like this. When Toneri was defeated it was deactivated (similar to how if an Uchiha was knocked their Sharingan would deactivate) and since they were given back to Hanabi as Byakugan that is what they stayed as. Similar to how Nagato can’t use the Sharingan abilities since it was implanted as a Rinnegan.
Rajhin so since his eyes were implanted it reverted back to the byakugan, when used up all his chakra? So if it was his eye the tenseigan would have stayed

Well if you watch the movie there was an orb of multiple byakugan eyes in it which was said to awaken the tense gan but hinata and naruto destroyed the orb which was the source of tensegan so after toneri depleted his chakra with was given to him by the orb with byakugans the eye lost its power

The Tenseigan was pretty unoriginal , all it did was reuse abilities we've already seen: truth seeking orbs, special chakra mode, gravitational force.
He also said it gave no eye powers but when you think about it since when was summoning a giant skeleton to protect you or summoning meteors any way related to eyes lmao.

just a little rant here. hate the fact hinata had some special chakra related to six paths brother, to me that's so much potential wasted for her. she could impact the story more, have more connection to the six paths, making the Byakugan standout more, possibly more useful and having scene time. a hint of her power could of been awakened when she fought pain. I just mad they didn't use that properly

If she would've put in work against Pain as a bit of foreshadowing for all this that would have been awesome, but it's really obvious the plot for the movie was sort of contrived and not even considered until after Kishimoto had already finished the story. When Hinata inherited Hamura's power I would of loved to see the Tenseigan eye manifest with her in much the some way the Rinnegan eye did with Sasuke when he inherited the Yin-half of Hagoromo's power.

They'd have to write her to be competent and have an actual character arc to be able to fight at 6 paths level, and that's just too much thonking by kishimoto. Even worse than all of that, it'd require them to write in some actual continuity for the lore and character progression for the viewer to appreciate as a payoff and we all know that's just WAYYY too difficult. :(

The rinnegan too was reversed back to normal eye when it was implanted in nagato. He had to go through emotional trauma to awaken the rinnegan.
The rinnegan in his eyes were always a thing, Madara simply transplanted them into nagato when he was young and asleep. He woke the powers of it through rage but that's about it

The problem is. There is no middle like a mangekyo Byakugan or something. Its just full on God mode for no reason xD.
I'm surprised that it didn't do something like use a Byakugan-like ability to see through other dimensions, plus use the individual's chakra to tear open holes to those dimensions. Imagine being able to pull a Kaguya and immediately open a hole to a dimension that contains that acid. Maybe also grant the ability to inject your chakra into someone and control their body.

Uzumaki clan was pretty big. They had their own Village. When the village was wiped out, many of the members were killed but some others escaped. A few of them are featured ( Kushina, Karin, etc ) There are probably a few others hidden across the map but they may probably be insignificant characters, much like how some of the members of the Hyuga clan aren't as remarkable as Neji, Hinata, Hiashi etc etc

I think Hanabi was just chosen because it will somehow persuade Hinata (aka the Byakugan Princess) to marry Toneri.
I think what he meant by being "pure" is just the _literal_ meaning that no other blood runs thru Hanabi's veins other than the Hyuuga blood.

If i remember correctly the reason why hinabi's eyes are considered pure is because her and hinata are part of the main branch of the hyuga clan therefore they are directly connected to hamura.
+ the branch members would have a sealed byakugans after their extraction due to the hyuga's seal

I always assumed that the Tenseigan eyes are powered by the Tenseigan core, that Naruto and Hinata destroyed, and Toneri's eyes reverted to the Byakugan after he used up all his reserve power in the fight with Naruto, and couldn't resupply it.

- COMPLETE 360 degree vision
- obviously the Chakra mode would grant them
- foresight and enhanced perception (i.e. "seeing" into the future, similar to the Lv. 2 Sharingan),- Visual reconstruction of past events, so they could "see" how an event in the past as if they were present,- Chakra absorption via affecting Chakra pathway,
- Remote affecting of Chakra points seen on the target,- affecting the Chakra efficiency of the target (e.g. 200% necessary chakra is spent for only100% of the effect)- absolute sealing of chakra flow of the target, removing the ability to use any and all chakra
And as for Aquisition, maybe expend >99% of their chakra, basically die, and "revive" themselves through sheer willpower. So while Uchiha need to experience loved ones dying, Hyuga themselves must experience dying.

The idea of acquiring it by dying and bringing yourself back to life seems really cool and would give actual meaning to its name. Tenseigan means "Reincarnation Eye" but there's nothing really about it or its current abilities that relate to reincarnation.

Part of this video is false: you only need the chakra of an Otsutsuki member + a Hyugan Byakugan in order to unlock Tenseigan. This means Hinata very likely has access to it and is actually beneficial in this case because she can use regular Byakugan whenever she needs it, something an Otsutsuki member would be unable to do. This is why Toneri's Tenseigan fades when he's out of chakra at the end of the movie.

Tenseigan came out of nowhere, and just exists as a plot device. For some reason, mixing hyuuga and otsutsuki chakra makes a new god level eye? Even though hyuuga are descended from otsutsuki?
Why do I have the explicit feeling that Toneri's Tenseigan wasn't actually complete despite what was presumed a completed Tenseigan transformation? Like SwagKage said, Toneri's Tenseigan literally dissolves after a loss of the battle, mainly to ensure that Hanabi didn't retain Tenseigan, but I think it runs deeper than that, and could make way to a possible True Tenseigan.
Considering that Toneri took Hanabi's eye's because they were "Pure" could also mean that Hanabi herself was pure. Toneri, on the other hand, is by all means not even _close_ to being considered a pure being. With that in mind, after the loss against Naruto on the Moon, Toneri lost his Tenseigan because the "Pure" eyes of Hanabi rejected Toneri as a whole at Toneri's most vulnerable position-defeat. At this point, Hinata takes back Hanabi's eyes, and Toneri's Tenseigan is fully nullified.
This could also lead to Hanabi awakening the Tenseigan on her own merits (if Kishimoto is enough of a madman to do it). This would require her to have a Byakugan from an Otsutsuki transplanted into herself. Since she would still be "Pure" and would be retaining her "Pure" eyes during the transplant (along with the fact that her eyes have had previous experience with the Tenseigan), she would theoretically achieve the "True Tenseigan". She would be able to retain and repeatedly activate the Tenseigan after multiple battles, and given enough time, she could even possibly evolve it into a new Dojutsu unheard of in Ninja history and even by members of the Otsutsuki. I already have a plausible name for it: *Hikarugan* or "Light Eye", and it abilities include but are not limited to: enhancing her Gentle Fist techniques massively past that of the Byakugan, granting her ocular vision and focus to that of an astronomical telescope, allowing Hanabi to see a person's chakra network when her eyes are closed, using the Gentle Fist on her feet thus giving her four means of striking a person's chakra network, having a fully complete 360-degree field of vision, can perceive and is immune to all chakra-based Genjutsu, and causes no strain in the eye after prolonged use. It would also grant her the *Hikarugan Chakra Mode* (a much enhanced version of the Tenseigan Chakra Mode that also doubles as a defense cloak in the form of the Eight Trigrams: Light Chakra Rotation-a unique Rotation technique that the Hikarugan Chakra Mode itself rotates constantly at the speed of light, and only ends when the Mode is deactivated or disabled), along with an ocular technique of *Absolute Chakra Possession* (she would be able to completely control someone's chakra network and body movements by just looking at them only once, making use of the Byakugan's main asset of chakra manipulation in a similar fashion to a Mangekyou Sharingan having powerful Genjutsu as it's main asset), and other abilities that would allow Hanabi to just be all kinds of badass in the field of battle (again, this requires Kishimoto to be an absolute nutcase to even remotely do this). Really, the only weakness to the Hikarugan would be Taijutsu of any kind, which is something that the Gentle Fist specifically excels in. This alone would make Hanabi an amazing Ninja to look up to by Boruto, and could create a unique character dynamic between her and Hinata.
But hey, I can dream of Boruto getting a good mentor/rival in the Hyuga clan............right?
Hanabi can easily be his rival or a mentor. The story can even move in such a way in which we get a Sasuke vs. Hanabi/Hinata fight. That would be awesome.
I would love Hanabi to be a temporary mentor to Boruto or Himawari until they eventually outclass her. It's inevitable that the Otsutsuki will invade the earth at one point during the Boruto series so earth's shinobi will need all the power-ups they can get. Apart from Naruto and Sasuke, no one else currently stands a chance against them. Also Hanabi is one of the newest Jonin teachers and I would like her and Konohamaru, who''s the other Jonin with great potential from the original series to both have their moments to shine. Konohamaru is the Boruto variant of Kakashi no doubt, so then what is Hanabi? Maybe the successor to Neji but better, eventually? They could make it so that unlike Neji, Hanabi doesn't die and has a reasonable impact on the story, but on a higher level since the enemies are stronger in Boruto. Also woman are getting shafted in combat in Naruto to some extent so another strong female kunoichi would be great. A great bonus imo would be if Boruto's Big Bro and Big Sis hook up. Konohamaru would actually be family to Boruto then and he'd have a dope, pretty, outgoing wife. Hanabi would also not outshine Boruto that way since it was stated that the Jougan is more powerful than the Tenseigan and he's the main character so he'll be the most powerful, like Naruto was at the end of his own series.

For the sake of having fun, I thought about how to give the Byakugan a similar path and power progression that the sharingan has. For the sake of not having to come up with new names I'll call the mengekyo sharingan equivalent B2 and the tenseigan will be B3 for brevity. So it's my own head cannon that the Sharingan is connected to Yin release. Now since the byakugan is basically the other half of the sharingan I think it only makes sense that it is connected to yang release. We also know that yang release is very connected to taijutsu and so is the byakugan. So I want to lean into that aspect. As for the appearance of B2, it will simply be the purplish part of the base byakugan but it's like it dilates to cover the entire eye. As for the method to attain the B2, the user must gain full control of the 8 gates. And in order to activate the B2, you must activate your gates. Perhaps each gate unlocks more powers or something but it doesnt matter. The mengekyo sharingan gains 2 unique abilities that I believe are uniquely yin release based as most of the abilities are very abstract and are often genjutsu abilities. Leaning into that, I say the B2 gains 2 yang release abilities. Now since we don't have much to go on in that category I will have to make something up. The Akimichi clan can increase their physical body's size using yang release. Maybe we can simply say one ability could be exactly that, increasing one's own physical size. Another could be decreasing an enemy's physical size. This is hard to say exactly but for now I'll move on. The B3 will have to change completely. Instead I'm gonna lean into the idea that the byakugan can see chakra and grant it the ability to see natural energy. To gain B3, you must gain a mastered Sage mode, any type. The appearance can be the tenseigan but maybe just the entire eye turns blue? Idk. As for abilities, leaning into the taijutsu aspects, you still gain a similar push pull ability but it works similar to air palm and the invisible nature energy punch ability. Basically you gain 8 invisible hands like some elfen lied shit. They are made using nature energy and can still be empowered to take down chakra points. You also gain a nature energy armor of sorts, basically like the susano but invisible and more like an over shield from halo. Perhaps you even gain the ability to become completely invisible yourself, enveloped in a nature energy cloak that bends light around you. So now not only can you see all, you can sense all with the power of sage mode, you can touch all with the 8 invisible arms and you can defend from all with your shield. If there was more focus on the Hyuga clan then perhaps we would have seen something like this but sadly we didn't. Feel free to add anything, this is hard to really come up with anything.

I think the "Tenseigan" is just Byakugan but is being utilized to the fullest extent.
The reason why the Otsuski (dunno how to spell) are the only ones who can activate is is because they know more about the Byakugan than humans do.
And the only way for them to activate it, is by becoming a Sage before getting laid Or take some virgin Hyuuga eyes instead.

While the Tenseigan may not look like it has no ocular capabilities, I think this maybe because the Tenseigan pushes the users ability to process information up and through their limits, hence the power to rival Naruto's 6PSM on top of Kyuubi Chakra Mode.
Tenseigan basically pushes the users processing power through the roof, making full use of Byakugan's abilities and the user's abilities and body.
The chakra mode is the result of the body understanding everything.
And when Toneri lost, his body also felt it, thus it gave up and slowed down forcing the eyes to deactivate back into the Byakugan because the body was no longer able to handle the amount of information the Tenseigan was giving.

Wasn't it stated that the Otsutsuki Clan (i.e. the branch living on the moon descended from Hamura) also started out with Byakugan, but would rip out and seal their eyes in the Energy Vessel at a young age to keep it powered? In which case, I would imagine a Hyuga clan member could hypothetically take and implant an Otsutsuki's eyes and gain it, too. Granted, we're dealing with Kishimoto's writing here, so it being logical doesn't necessarily mean much, but still.
My question is, what might happen if one were to acquire a Tenseigan and a Rinnegan? Might some new dojutsu result? In fact, if I recall correctly, the child of an Uchiha and a Hyuga would supposedly have a Byakugan in one eye, and a Sharingan in the other, meaning they could hypothetically awaken both abilities and also retain the "only the original user can fully utilize an eye's power" thing. Seems like a plotline worth looking into, which means they probably never will. :/
If they happen to be the reincarnation of indara or Ashura they could awaken the rinnegan by sealing a part of the other reincarnation in themselves. And for the tenseigan they still requier otsutsuki chakra wich the hyuuga don't seem to posess due to no hyuuga Walking around with a tenseigan.

I think that it grants the same powers as six paths because it is the highest level ability from Hamera's side of the family. The rinnegan is achieved by combining the chakra of the reincarnates of indra and ashura. The tenseigan is achieved by combining the chakra of an otsutsuki and the "pure" byakugan. Some byakugan might be pure because the original owner may have been a reincarnate of someone special. Also it may have disappeared due to a lack of chakra.

So I have an idea to help balance the Byakugan and the Sharingan without retracting anything. So mainly its adding a middle stage for the Byakugan, an Avatar like the Susanoo, and a post Tenseigan variant like the Rinne-Sharingan.
The middle stage is the Amado Byakugan, Amado being a window shutter and is signified by a thick, dark outline around the signature Byakugan white eye. This gives the user unique Taijutsu techniques, paralleling the unique Genjutsu techniques of the Mangekyou Sharingan.
The Amado Byakugan would also give the users access to the Bāxiān (or another name for the same thing, it's the reference that matters), an 8 armed avatar like the Susanoo. Bāxiān is the pinyin for the 8 Taoist Immortals, mirroring Susanoo being a Japanese god, and certain techniques in Tai Chi are based on the 8 Tao Immortals. So certain techniques accessed through the Amado Byakugan would be named after the 8 Immortals like Amaterasu, Izanagi, Izanami, Tsukuyomi, etc. are named after Japanese deities.
Now regarding the limits of the Tenseigan excluding anyone outside of the Otsutsuki clan, the reason could be a misunderstanding of the way to get the Dojutsu, that one would need to unlock the Amado Byakugan, then an Eternal Amado Byakugan before being able to develop a Tenseigan, so only an Otsutsuki having the least diluted bloodline already has an equivalent to a Amado Byakugan.
Now beyond the Tenseigan would be the Tensei-Byakugan, which would be a parallel to the Rinne-Sharingan. Visually it would be the Tenseigan with the Amado ring around the iris.
That's all a headcanon way to match the Byakugan higher levels with the Sharingan higher levels.

I’m going to explain why himawari will get the tenseigan
1- she has ties with they hyuga clan and has the byakugan
2- Naruto has 6 paths powers and himawari probably will inherit some of 6 paths power
3- Also 6 paths is a otsosuki
4- so if she did inherit some of 6 paths powers from naruto then she would prolly get the tenseigan
5- Also, naruto has some of hashirama cells because of his transplanted arm and I think you need some of those cells to awaken the tenseigan, so himawari will probably inherit some of the hashirama cells.

I'd take this Dojustu before any others, I'll say that. It may not be as haxxed as the Sharingan or Rinnegan, but it's still extremly powerful.
The Byakugan on it's own is already a powerful dojustu. Having a op Chakra mode(similar to Naruto's or Juubito/Juudara's transformations), the gravitational abilities of the Tenseigan and energy absorption is a pretty potent combination. Toneri could literally move the moon with those eyes

A member of the Hyuga clan could adquire one by implanting an Ootsutsuki's byakugan, as the requisits are the following:
-The user must have a byakugan.
-The user must manifest Hamura's chakra, a combination of a Hyuga's chakra and an Ootsutsuki's chakra.

I really like what the fanfic White Eyes did with the Byakugan and Tenseigan, introducing a Mangekyō equivalent for the Byakugan called the Gokei Byakugan (with 4 jutsu known as Kokosora, Hiragekoma, Kesshotoketsu, and Vishnu), and reworking the Tenseigan to incorporate a system of anti-chakra consisting of 4 subtypes-Voracious, Adamantine, Obdurate, and Edacious.
A Hyuga clan can implant Otsutsuki cell in them to active the tensei-gan. Rinnegan is to get your chakra close to Hagoromo as possible, so the Tenseigan is to get your Chakra as close to Hamura as possible.
