Did you think the Citroën's suspension would save it?
Did you think you could watch a grand tour video without a stupid question from the uploader underneath it?
The suspension...I don't think so.
No, its not, it will flat itself like a metal crepe...👎👎👎
Nah. It’s that Jezza will use any excuse to destroy a cheap car he dislikes.
Clarkson would fit perfect to host Mythbusters. The surprise on his head, every time he is wrong :D
The suspension took the impact just fine, it was just literally every other component of that car aggressively did not.
Should have built the whole thing out of suspension springs. It would have bounced right back
Aggressively still seems like an understatement
lol
That kinda shows that the springs didn’t absorb the impact if they did there wouldn’t be any energy left to destroy the car springs didn’t absorb shit !

The neighborhood mongrels vaguely barked it

That car is so legit it even falls straight.. unlike a fiat. A fiat falls like a piece of fruit and bitches the whole way down about the fact it got dropped. 🙀😂
Plot twist, the drunk was just his reflection in a mirror
Hahahaha
The way Clarkson answers a question..
May: “Really”?
Jezza: “Well let’s find out” 😂
"tell you what, let's find out"
I love that no one EVER claimed that, but Clarkson just wanted an excuse to yeet a French car from a helicopter.
Some people say, that back in the nineties, Clarkson was the first person to say YEET.
Yes
YES
@@welshdave5263 nope this is incorrect the earliest usage was 1650 The word yeet, though, has a strange and convoluted history. In Middle English, yeet was a variant spelling of a form of the archaic verb yeten, derived from Old English ġēotan. According to the entry for the word in the University of Michigan’s online Middle English Dictionary, the verb yeten literally meant “to pour out from a container,” but it could also be used more loosely to mean “to send out,” “to bleed,” “to give freely,” “to mix together,” “to melt down,” or even “to urinate.”
@@sleepup7931 interesting, thanks for that.
I love how the car didn't just crash, it was completely and absolutely flattened to about pancake height.
Not even the slightest bounce or recoil, just a very crunchy splat.

To be fair, they never claimed the car would survive... they said the springs will absorb the impact.
And that you can drop it from a helicopter
@@theotherasianguy8249 Well, they did manage to drop it. That's for sure.
Right. Plus the springs are fine, they did indeed absorb the impact
The spring fine but the car become flat🤣🤣🤣🤭
To be fair it did not fall down flat and the front actually hit first taking the brunt of the impact.
I’m sure the springs absorbed the impact. Part of it.
They did absorb the impact, they were perfectly fine.
It was everything else that was f'cked.
Their the reason its not a complete pancake
Yes, a wee bit, PROVIDED that it lands on the tires.
The body collapsed like mashed potato though
After checking they found out indeed the springs absorbed the impact but the rest of the car did not
I hope that 2CV was irreparable prior to the testing because I hate seeing a classic destroyed if it could be resurrected.

That was Jeremy's way of hating on the 2CV! Fortunately Citroen built millions of those iconic 2CVs!
His words after dropping it..."It seems I have misread the manual"...
I bet Citroen never actually claimed that Jeremy just said they did so he could drop out from a helicopter at 500ft
There's no way anyone would ever claim that so yeah probably
Yh in the episode he said he misread the sentence that a basket of eggs won’t break if you drive over a field 😂😂

That car company was not ready for clarkson
It is in fact brilliant, genius suspension design for the purpose it was intended for. They're good cars!
A 2CV was once used to transport 10 kg of plutonium and it's lead container for 1500 km of Algerian desert, before the Gerboise nuclear test. It was transported in a 2CV instead of a military truck in order to avoid suspicions by the Algerian opponents.
Sometimes silence is funnier than a clear reaction
I pictured him saying afterwards. “See I told you James that was a terrible idea “ and walks off
Clarkson is the real-life embodiment of peter griffins shenanigans.
I love how nobody considered the car rotating in midair. It took a nose dive lol if it actually landed on all four, what he wanted to test might have actually been tested
Highly doubtful there is no reason why spinning would cause it to nose dive it did that because a car has a lot of weight in the front you know that big metal thing called an engine
@@ephwurd2yurMother slightly unrelated but related fact that i had in the back of my head:
if the 2cv was dropped without any rotation in a vacuum, it wouldnt rotate. The rotation is induced by air resistance
@@ephwurd2yurMother weight doesn't affect falling speed tho, we learn that in high school. It's all about air resistance and momentum. If the car had been steady, it wouldn't have turned while falling.
@@drnanard9605 you're both right. The air resistance is causing the rotation but the weight in the front will certainly help. I'm surprised it didn't completely nosedive but that's probably because the chassis is heavier than the cabin so it oscillates instead
Still wouldn't of worked.
The pure look of disappointment when it hits the ground and just flattens😂

Not one of us expected it to survive but we watched anyway.
After all these years of watching you fellas, I'm never left unentertained. I love ya & I hope all is well.
It’s problem was it landed partially sideways, he didn’t specify it needed to land all 4 wheels at the same time
Yeah that’s a big problem
Of course I have a hard time believing it would have been okay even if it was steady and landed on four wheels flat every few feet that something heavy falls it gains a few hundred pounds in sheer inertia that little car weighed a lot by the time it hit the ground in sheer force not just its own weight something tells me even if it landed proper it wouldn't have survived well I think this guy was smoking his socks before he made this video...

Despite adverse loading to the front off side wheel, the car completely absorbed the impact, didnt bounce at all or anything, working as intended.
It’s not that it absorbed the impact. The car wouldn’t bounce either way. It’s half a ton . Gravity pulls it down stronger .’
@Rypdx re: "gravity pulls [the car] down stronger"
are you saying that if this car and, say, a coin were dropped simultaneously from a heigh of 15 meters, or 50 feet, that the car would hit the ground first?
