I absolutely agree. I spent quite a bit of time with the first, and just got the second, so now I get to enjoy an updated version of one of my absolute favourite songs!
Fuck this is it boys....we might not make it out alive.....but our names WILL BE REMEMBERED our DEEDS talked about as if we were legends and we will be for honor for duty for the glory of Agatha!
I genuinely prefer this to the Chivalry 2 version, because the Duty and Honor II is melodramatic. In Chivalry 2, it’s so much longer and more intense with vocals etc, it makes it feel like this is the culmination of a great struggle, like it’s about the Kings and Generals. I love this version so much more because the lower, more grounded music makes it seem more genuine, like it’s about a bunch of men fighting desperately just to stay alive, like the hour of battle and everyone’s on edge and shitting themselves, brutally slaughtering each other and trying as hard as they can to just not die, like there’s no illusion of bravery, heroism or chivalry.
I don't feel the same as you do in your last sentence, the title of this song is duty and honor after all. To me, these virtues are what's keeping the warriors fighting despite the heavy casualties and the weariness, especialy after 1:15 where the violins stop and the drums get crazy, only for the song to resume to it's original melody but with an even more desperate aspect to the violin to the climax. I wish they had kept that in duty and honor 2
@@Morbak546 It actually makes holding your ground more immersive in a way, desperately trying to win and turn the tide, or holding back the hordes of enemies. Can confirm I have gotten so invested as to say “Hold the line, for Malric, for the red and black!”
FOR THE BLUE AND GOLD

This music is still epic after 9 years, and the new version is even better, but this one stays in my heart also for the nostalgia.
