the fact that the Huawei phone running HarmonyOS is years older than S23 but very smooth is very outstanding.
Snapdragon 888 processor is not exactly a midrange processor, It is still a capable processor even in 2024
Huawei P50 Pro is a two years old gadget, powered by snapdragon 888, but Samsung S23 Ultra was released this year, powered by snapdragon 8 gen2 . That's not exactly fair😂
He was showing the animation not performance, plus i think the p50 pro is really holding up good
@@darkside2054
My thoughts as well. The animation speed is not defined by the hardware, unless the hardware is lacking. Besides, Harmony like Blackberry OS is a real-time operating system (RTOS) for real-time computing applications that processes data and events that have critically defined time constraints. An RTOS is distinct from a time-sharing operating system, such as Unix. That is why on BB-OS animations and games were always fluid and did not stutter on modest hardware.
The response time of animations on high-end phones is a matter of design, not system speed. Even in the old days, it was possible to create instant on screen changes. In fact, I read of a guy who became a millionaire by creating a solution to slow it down, because instant change can confuse people. It can make you uncertain whether you performed an action, and make you click/push a button twice.
In real life, things have to overcome resistance or have inertia through mass, so we are used to a delay. In the past, systems often had the possibility to personalize the speed of animations, but nowadays, designers have become pretty dictatorial in controlling a uniform user experience as more users are noobs.
So basically this comparison really means nothing at all. Even if the differences were caused by restraints, one might wonder, how important they are to the user experience. For instance, a Rolls-Royce, is not the fastest car, does not have the fastest acceleration, does not have the best driving qualities. When one asked the company about specs, their answer was always the same: Sufficient.
China is a big enough market for Harmony to grow, and will spread to Asian and other markets as well. It has the advantage of coming late to the game when the market has more or less matured, It does not carry a lot of legacies, and can incorporate on a deeper level what is loaded later on top of earlier systems. Being the most popular system like Android and Windows is a disadvantage as well. Apple understood this, and they have forced big system changes on their users several times even at the cost of compatibility, to fully exploit the latest developments.
If you are interested in OS performance, more revealing would be to compare the results of low powered phones.
P60 pro now has a chinese brand chipset, i wonder how good it is
DID YU KNOW THAT THE OLDDER THE PHONE GETS, THE LEES SMOOTH ANIMATIONS GET FOR OPTIMATIZATION???? p60 or mate 60 are smoother@@darkside2054

I just wish HarmonyOS was released globally. EMUI 13.0 on my Nova 11 Pro is great but HarmonyOS is more consistent and always up to date.
Yes...so do I. It seems so hard to get it outside China on a global device....
Don't understand why, but probably they have global patents only for EMUI and keep HarmonyOS local.
It's really impressive.
How do you know that?
@@VelianSpeaksTech Is it because Google does not allow Huawei to use GMS?
@@mpirokajosephmgcokoca2355 Because the software ecosystem of HarmonyOS is not even mature within China. It wont' be ready until it's mature at least in China.
HarmonyOS of Huawei is like iOS of Apple: hardward and software work well together. Samsung won't be able to super-optimize the Android because it depends on Google. Google has final say in Android!
I´ve been using samsung for the past years... and see this comparison is eye opening. Harmony OS smoothness is on another level, which makes the interaction with the phone more enjoyable. Too bad i´m so attached to the way i interact with the smartphone and gestures on my Samsung, otherwise the switch would be obvious. Ps: I don´t care it´s a beta version, not even on full release will be on par with that harmony OS... Ty for your video.
I am en par with what you are saying. It's with tears in my eyes as I see how satisfyingly smooth HOS is, but I know still One UI is best overall...
We must pay tribute to huawei, because it is very similar to Samsung, but yes, Samsung is better.
Yea but samsung has more fun features and capabilities, my s23 ultra is the best I've ever used
@@YSOffI will admir Huawei might have better night video than my s23 ultra
Instead of Harmony it sounds like you would enjoy the original - iOS. Also less built in spyware
One UI is still android, but harmony OS 4 is already independent.
Yeah,the harmony next
finally more than ios and android
Lol. HarmonyOS is a fork of Android.
@@iamjorellr Harmony Next Bro?
Looks like IOS of course..
Samsung urgently needs to improve animations across OneUi
samsung used to have those animations but they slowly moved towards the speed now a days and I actually happy with the speed .. those animations might look cool for 2 days but from 3rd day you will only wanted speed
@@TearfulNight that's purely preference I like harmonyos animations more and I've used both oneui and harmony
@@TearfulNighttrue! I like snappy and speed over animating things and making things slow...
I like the stack widget animation on Huawei. When you swipe down and hold, it feels like that animation could be from an iOS but it was really unique to EMUI/HOS.
U r biased apple fan who always claims that other brands are doing what invented by apple, why?
that's why apple is a BIG LOSSER who claims everything is invented by it. SHITTY APPLE.
The day is coming when Huawei will rule over apple again & this will be the main cause of apple's DOWNFALL.
all the people complaining just put the animation scale to 1.5x
literally that is what ios and harmony os is doing, slower animation and boom they feel like it is better.
I think US made a mistake with the ban of huawei products , When the years passed this will be improved very well.
They ban because huawei is actually really good.

Two fingers swap from home is my favorite gesture to split screen, fast and easy, I use it a lot.

Harmony os unlocking wallpaper animation reminds me samsung experience's infinity wallpaper! Well good work by huawei!
Well, honestly we can't judge since there's a 2 years generation difference between both smartphones
Uso um Huawei Watch Fit 2 e é muito familiar e fluído o sistema e sem nenhum bug se quer utilizando cerca de 1 ano, as animações no smartphone parece incríveis, realmente fluída, definitivamente eu quero um huawei.
Harmony OS like 4-5 generations ahead of One UI.
but harmanyos is least optimized os
You wanna know why people stick to Samsung? it’s because of ONE UI so you better get their flagship devices before you judge.

Slower animations look smoother. I have absolutely no problems with Samsung animations. If you want smoother animations alter them in dev options . I run my tab S9 and S23U on 0.5 animations because i prefer speed
👍
I tweaked the animation speeds on my s23 but its nowhere close to harmonyOS lol
It's not a speed issue, oneui's animations have always been terrible
try watching responsiveness tests and one ui still loses
@@WatchDogMan69 I'd be interested to see those. Post links to specific videos for reference
Ok the right word is "elegant", Huawei's animations look more elegant than OneUI's.
Haha, if you have used HarmonyOS, you won't choose Android. The experience gap is not a little.
The more HarmonyOS is used, the smoother it becomes, and the more Android is used, the more stuck it becomes.
The s8 and s9 of samsung had theese special wallpapers too. I miss these times😢
true, I missed the design of s10, it is really beautiful.
Very good video, is amazing. The difference of animation in Harmony Os 4 respect One UI Is outstanding. Pls Samsung try to learn from this and add the music player in the control panel like this😂.
They are good, though a bit slow somehow, but at least very satisfying.
You guys need to realize you can set your wallpapers to show the animate effect after unlocking. Also 3rd party launchers are more optimized for Samsung in general. Developer options can also tweak how fluid the Samsung animations are. This is something harmony OS doesn't have. I'm sticking with One UI.
Harmony os v.s one ui ❌️
Harmony os v.s android ✅️
Emui v.s one ui ✅️
Harmony os has smooth transition
Im big samsung fan but hormony os is much cooler in my opponion👌🏼
The animations on Harmony OS is a little bit too slow for me, it looks great though. I still have hope that Samsung will improve animations before releasing One UI 6. This is probably not finished yet.
You know that’s not gonna happen lol. They promised this with One UI 5.1 as well 😂
@@leone-mobilegame1754 One UI 5.1 on S23s is pretty good though, there has been an improvement over the years. But it's not perfect.
@bamsemums I own both the S23 Ultra and S22 Ultra. S22 Ultra was so bad no amount of software changes is gonna fix it. S23 Ultra is so good that they really need to improve the software to bring out the most of the phone. The gesture animation especially on the home screen need to be revamped.
You realize yoyu can change animation speed
Yeah, but this Huawei phone have Snapdragon 888
I switched from Samsung to Huawei P60 Art and have no intention of going back to Samsung again.
Nice work. Keep uploading bro. 👍👍👍
Samsung One UI got so boring.. I hate it on my s22 ultra
Being waiting for this comparison...no one's done it❤
Hello Velian, nice video and useful too. Can you make a review on synchronized apps from google if they could work smoothly in Harmony! I mean such products we used in Google (contacts, authenticator, chrome, drive, etc.) because for people who are using two mobiles in simultaneously I need to have synchronized access for such products, now I use iPhone & Samsung which most of Google products are synchronized across my devices and on my laptop too.

Wait for the stable version of One Ui 6 better bro, that would be fair. You should have compared Harmony Os with One Ui 5.1 which is still the best One Ui version ever from Samsung until the One Ui 6 stable version get released.
I actually happy with the speed,
those animations on harmony OS might look cool for 2 days, but from 3rd day you will only wanted speed,
It works good in China. But It's pity that Google Services are not available on Huawei.Hope more independent app developer can develop more Harmony OS.hap applications.
On One UI, I rather noticed that sometimes animations like the ones for that Control/Navigation Panel or whatever you wanna call it, are smoother and better if you rather pull with a certain speed, in a certain way. Tho I can agree, even if you do it like that, One UI 5.1 was smoother than One UI 6.
Was the Refresh Rate and Animation speed setting shown? I have not seen it.
Animations are good but there are much more important things for me.
I like the way Harmony os is more like apple smoother they are doing a great job at it.
In my opinion, one ui 5.1 is more stable than one ui 6 beta
I wish samsung bring more stable and fluid animations in final one ui 6
One ui 6 bro is a beta lol it not stable 🤣 the stable version be out next month
@@kylewright3484 yes bro, I know that very well😊
Wow really
@@polar3553 In China, Samsung’s attitude towards consumers is so bad that most people are not very fond of Samsung.🤣
Comparison between beta and official..very fair
Harmony is much smoother
Well, i tried myself to slow the animation speed on my S23U and its very smooth on x10, so much animation...
As soon as i set up my google account, i go the settings, click 7 times, open dev settings and stop all animations whatsoever. I do this with every new phone i get, i dont get why people are "enjoying" this animations or in huawei and ios case, those are transitions. Samsungs work like them if you put animation speed on x2.
I love tech and i try a new phone very few months. I always go back to Samsung. One UI is just overall the best, especially with goodlock apps.
So what I'm see is you get that aod animation if you choose the stock wallpapers. I want to see the animation when its not the default animations.
OneUI 5.1 is the most polished OS Samsung has achieved. Again they are changing things in OneUI 6. If this goes on they won't achieve consistency and smoothness.
All I expect is smooth animations and consistency in OS.
they 100% won't release such animations.
What I like is your honesty on both phones,
Nice video. Please use manual focus in future videos, as the focus pumping is very distracting.
people need to get their hands on the mate 60. the satellite calling and ui would just make a man bus
Is possible instal Google play on Harmony os?
Not sure if this is fair, because the One UI is still in beta. A lot things can change after the stable release. Ice Universe toxcitity is spreading like cancer.
I would love to see a comparison between harmony os and the purest android which is from pixel phone.
Yo which country are you in and how much did you pay for the Huawei nova 11 pro
Everyone obsessed with animations and me meanwhile, disabling them all hahaha . Without animations everything seems faster and instantaneous.
HarmonyOS is smoothie than One Ui and the harmonyOS animation is amazing. I'd like to use a Huawei phone, but i get scared because of the US sanctions because of the Google apps and other apps which can be installed officially
GBOX can be installed …
wait for several years, Huawei will give you a nice experience without Google GMS.
I've been using Honor and it's so similar to Harmony OS!
Hopefully Beta users can push for smoothest and beautiful animation 😍
Huawei should update all their devices even the old ones and global to harmony os not just the chinese versions.
I agree but I believe they have some patent issues, or something else that prevents them to roll out HarmonyOS globally and gradually replace EMUI
@@VelianSpeaksTech I see. Well hopefully they can work around it.
Huawei has done a great job updating older devices so far. My global/china Mate 30 Pro just received Harmony OS 4.0 today. And it's buttery smooth and fast!
@@highlightshighlights4339 is it global or China? Because you said global/China that's a bit confusing.
@@VelianSpeaksTech One simple reason is that HarmonyOS doesn't have enough APPs support yet. Huawei Claims that top 100 APPs in China can now run on HarmonyOS, but only those Chinese APPs... It still lacks a globally usable map, and plus the fact that Google is not allowed to let Huawei use all their apps....
The animation I want to see is when you open an application for example from notification and you return to home.
S 23 ultra ❤❤❤🎉
In summary: One UI is for adults, Harmony for playful kids
Are you able to install 3rd party launchers on HarmonyOS 4.0
great topic
Looks nice. Maybe one day harmony os will be brought out of china. But to do that they will need to introduce a whole ecosystem of apps
If you know about the OS architectures, it is no brainer to choose Harmony OS. It might take some time for the market to shift to the eco. But it is certainly the future. I am tired of deal with tons of shitttt codes with android OS.
The harmony os feels and look indeed smoother than the one ui
You know about goodlock in samsung you can fix the phone how ever you want.
In standard it built for speed
How have you installed Facebook on harmony os?
Is it easy and normal to use harmonyos outside of China's?

Honestly, I don't see any difference in the animations, I just feel like the Huawei is in 1.5x-2x by default a bit like iPhone 🤷🏽♂️
And personally, I find the animations of both smartphones too slow, long, annoying, 0.5x / 1.5x / 0.5x, it's the best way to manage animations for me.
Huawei animations feels smoother. Gesture animations on one ui aren't affected by dev options, unfortunately.
@@Codyslx As I said above, there is no difference between the animations of the 2 smartphones, it's just that the animations of the Huawei are slower, and changing the scale of animations in the developer options do affect One-UI animations.
@@rolins3279 Not the gesture one. The home gesture is the same speed regardless of the dev option settings. Atleast one one ui 5.1
Their underlying pages are transfected in a different way. Android phones render each application page separately, while Harmony os, like IOS, renders the page uniformly. Now it's just a transitional stage. Harmony os will eventually be stripped of AOSP. If you are interested, you can learn about Harmony Next, which will no longer support .apk.
It’s beautiful and so damn smooth. I’d argue the OS is even more fluid and dynamic than iOS. I just wish that they wouldn’t rip off some iOS icons (like phone, settings, and camera) which detracts from their design a tiny bit and gives haters more ammo to cry that it’s just an iOS ripoff when it’s really so much more. They would get more credit if those elements were more unique
Samsung just lucky to have the full support from google
That is SOOO TRUE 😅
Huawei Harmony OS 4 will have top game to huawei app gallery ?
I wish in near future the harmoney Os will he as unique like Ios
Harmony Os & Huawei are far far better than shitty ios & apple.
1UI is so static, it barely moves. When will Samsung ever improve the animations
Harmony OS wipes the floor with 1ui. No comp. I like Samsung but they don't stand a chance
Maybe in One UI 6 Beta 3?
If you only talking about animations then maybe your a slave of it, so you don’t care about the software itself. 😂 bye
@@reziee5897doesn't necessarily need to have bad animations to have good software. So Samsung can still definitely try to improve that instead of asking for a compromise
@@DRNOBODY1997 it doesnt have bad animation at least for me, btw I’m not using android right now It just my experience on my old SNote10+.
Harmony OS 4 is a whole different OS than Android 14... apps are easier to develop in Harmony OS compared to Android, RAM and Hardware usage of Harmony OS is way less than that super heavy OS called Android. Yet Huawei makes new devices that has 12 GB just like Samsung has, atleast more innovative than Apple. Huawei is better than any android manifacturers in both Software, Hardware and Quality.. all of them
I like harmony os but those aminations are wayyy too long
its possible to change in developer settings but yeah i agree
Kirin 9000S is underrated 😢
Why is the screen of Sammy flickering???
Because Sammy need yet to invent DC dimming :(

Is harmony os increased or decreased battery life of your device?
One ui 6 is still absolute in progress.. stable is stable.. but it see when it comes
A stable version vs a beta version. Great comparison 🤣 Also, it's all personal preferences. Regardless of which manufacturer, as long as you don't like the OS variant, you won't like the phone
I'm a Samsung user and samsung knight and it doesn't matter if it's on beta or not, the Huawei will have better animations
@@Flash363 Like I said, it's your own personal preference regardless of which manufacturer
@gsoroxascity5251 you right it's your own personal preference which OS you use but I'm just speaking objectively as a Samsung user, the Huawei's animations are objectively better. That's not to say I won't continue using my S23 but samsung just can't seem to get that part right
@@Flash363 just complaint to Samsung about their software. Also, not a fan of China Phones :) And it's my own personal preference :)
Me too. I don't like the OS of china phones especially the Harmony and Color OS' as it's boring. Also, I did not bought my phone only for animation. I find it useless that's why I turn that to 0.5x instead. The Harmony OS is based on iOS that's why I find it boring.
I would say, this is the worst comparison. You are comparing a stable version with an early beta build.
Huawei best
Good OS but sadly no google support. I can't justify buying an expensive phone but to compromise one of the biggest point on a phone, Google, for an android

I have set the animation, transition in samsdung S23 Ultra form 1x to 1.5x & Guys its definitely worth it,Now it is same as iphone animation,So on any iphone apps open slower because of Animation so u need to decide in better animation or better speed,.
One ui has features hos has smoothness
What is the theme name in harmony
As a former samsung user, I change the phone brand because of one ui which is not my taste
I noticed the Samsung phone had wavy patterns pulsing down the screen and the Huawei was steady better screen .Perhaps the refresh is poorer on the samsung?
I guess that's either PWM or DC dimming or both.
Samsung doesn't do DC dimming
You forgot one great feature. Swipe left or right and hold, and youl have a choice of app that'll appear as a pop-up window. Its really handy feature on Huawei.
The harmony os feels better and looks better
now days, huawei ui become more like samsung ui in old days. and samsung ui become more like cheaper android smartphone. lol. That smooth transition is samsung ui in old days. i remember it. i use samsung for many years. now i use huawei.

Huawei would have a given a tough competition to apple and could easily surpass samsung. Sadly, this is not possible. The smootheness is on another level
Huwaie is the best because it is old and still good
Huawei its so fluid,,very similar with ios niceeee
I can literally see stutters all over the interface on the Harmony OS due to the animatoins being too heavy even for the Snapdragon 888 processor!!
If you don’t want to be tracked by the US government, you better choose Huawei
