      How many tanks do you have in the fish room? What is the size of your largest tank and what kind of fish do you have in it?

      Noticed you both have a similar basement fishroom setup. What are you guys using for walls/insulation? heaters? temp fluctuations? and of course cost to heat the room? thanks for any advice and keep doing the damn thing!

    • @mrfeedthefish
      @mrfeedthefish Před 2 lety +2

      @@Redd-zr3yc nothing for wall insulation I just run heaters in my big aquariums an I run a space heater over night for temp control . .. temp usually stays around 76 degrees .. I’m switching to canister filters an sumps to limit the amount of plug ins as far as cost goes .. that way I don’t have to run two hang on the back filters on the big tanks

    you mentioned that you don't raise brine shrimp....here's a simple way that takes no time and you have brine shrimp for your fry!
    equipment: a gallon jar, (I have pickle jars, lol), an air pump, air stone, aquarium salt, a 5 or 10 gallon heater, treated water , a kitchen strainer and some coffee filters, some good brine shrimp eggs.
    set-up: " treated" water in the jar, add aquarium salt according to directions on package, put in the heater--they like 75 degrees--and a light air stone--you can let that work for 5-6 hours or so, until you think all chlorine is gone and salt dissolved, add a 1/4 teaspoon of brine shrimp eggs, let them work until you see brine shrimp all through the water; then use your strainer, with the coffee filter= you'll catch the brine shrimp, when all the water is gone, dip the filter in your tank with fry--as you know, salt is a treatment for disease as long as you use a little. The shrimp will swim around, and will reach your fry, eventually. A lot of times, brine shrimp really get them going, especially livebearer fry that don't have a yolk sac---a little after feeding your fry will zip around and are off to a good start--your guppies and swordtails will thrive--give it a try--it took me about 4-5 times to get it down--I have 3 jars and feed brine shrimp every day--doesn't hurt the parents either, lol.

    You should try giving your tanks a few taps before feeding. Your fish will learn the taps mean it’s feeding time & come out more. This has worked good for me once my fish learned.
