  • I've moved all of my collection to my stamp album now. I'm slowly building a good selection of stamps from the reign of British monarchs Queen Victoria, Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII (who only saw four stamps issued during his short reign), George VI and the late Queen Elizabeth II.

It definitely keeps you busy. A lovely collection and I like those pages, it shows them off nicely.
I learnt a bit along the way as well that will help in my own GB collection.

Another great video Michael. I love how meticulous you have been labeling up the empty spaces. The collection looks great and is coming along.

Thanks for watching John. It was a much longer video than I anticipated, I was yawning by the end of it. I got the idea of labeling the missing stamps from @tedtalksstamps. You label all the stamps where they are misssing or not, that seems more practical. Thanks for watching and thanks for making great videos.

Thank you Jeff and thank you for your videos. I like all stamps, Australian stamps are very interesting because they were so unlike the other British Empire stamps. Again thanks for watching and subscribing. Happy collecting.

Thanks for watching and the kind comments. I hope to make a video of part two of my collection in a week or two. Great Britain 1971 - 1989. How are you getting on with your collection?

@@michaelwest1 I found some time to work on my collections. Spend a lot of time getting my Germany album (BRD more specifically) into shape. I collect too much and there is too little time. I will be looking forward to a new video of you. Do not feel pressured though ;-)

Love seeing others use different albums to show the same groups of stamps. Your album is one that’s new to me. Very impressive

Thank you for watching. The album I'm using is a Lighthouse. They are a German company and produce a lot of philately equipment as well. I like they layout, but they have spaces for every stamp issued even very rare ones. I think some of the pages will be very bare for a very long time. Thanks again for watching and your kind comments.

Great video Michael and you have a great set of GB stamps. Like your idea of using fakes as space fillers for the uber expensive stamps.

Thanks for sharing Michael. I have a Lighthouse album as well that was purchased, when I was very young, in the early 1970's. It covers the same time frame as yours, but the layout is quite different,. Yours have many more color variations, while mine asks for more plate number varieties, especially the 1870 1/2 penny that wants all of them. My collection is about 95% mint (unused) condition (no #1 yet) with all never hinged (unused), starting roughly around 1924 through Elizabeth II. My advice to you with regards to the Edward VII Harrison and Somerset printings is to "bite the bullet" and acquire them from Stanley Gibbons themselves. Yes, the price is a bit higher but they guarantee them for life,. Apparently you trust some of the EBay sellers when it comes to some Victorian variations. With SG you get a lifetime warranty. That's what I did...and I have peace of mind. Looking forward to your next posting. Keep collecting! 🙂

Hi Mike, thank you for watching. I've actually put aside a few Lighthouse pages, 1A - Penny Black and Two Penny Blue plate, 3E - 1870 halfpenny 'Bantam' plates, CPV- Colour and Plate Varieties (?), 26 - 1915/18 De La Rue Seahorses and 28 - 1924 Block Cypher watermark variations. I've removed them simply because at the moment, I'd like to concentrate on more obtainable and affordable stamps.
Your collection sounds very impressive, I think it must be very beautiful.
Thank you for the advice about The Edward VII printings, you are quite correct that If I am to complete the collection to buy it from Stanley Gibbons, I wouldn't trust anybody on eBay with stamps so difficult to differentiate. Ebay is a remarkable resource for collectors building a collection, but its drawback is that people in all good faith may make mistakes. I've realised that I take that risk now and am much more cautious.
Again, thanks for the comments, I really enjoyed hearing about your collection and your older Lighthouse album. The next few videos I have in mind to make may be a bit different to this but I hope you check on my videos from time to time. Kind regards and again thanks for taking the time to comment.

Thank you watching. I collect GB Commemoratives up to 2004. I collect FDCs a lit bit beyond that. I'm not too fond of the new self-adhesive stamps and I've made a cut-off point because of the sheer number of commemorative stamps that come out each year nowadays. I have some Machin stamps but I'm baffled by the number of varieties of each denomination. Anyway, thanks for watching and happy collecting.

Hello, can you point me in the right direction to your exact album please? I watched this and really enjoyed it and I am going to try and gather some stamps together to see how far I can go. Many thanks in advance 😊👍🏻

Sorry for the delay in replying. The album is volume 1 of the Lighthouse Great Britain Album 1840 - 1970. Volume 2 is 1971 - 1989 and volume 3 is 1990 - 2004. They are expensive to buy new but you can pickup used ones easily on ebay much cheaper. Thanks for watching and happy collecting.

Hi John thanks for watching. I just try to pick up bargains on ebay auctions. I never spend a lot and I'm always going to have a lot missing. Yes, I think stockbooks are a very versatile and safe way of collecting. I watch @JohnCollectsStamps videos and he uses stockbooks in a very attractive way. With a stockbook you arrange everything how you want it, with printed album pages, you are stuck with the publishers arrangement. Again thanks for watching and happy collecting.
