Grilled cheese is a staple in every house but with attention to ingredients, my grilled cheese is done a bit different than the one you grew up on. It’s cool that the outro is made every single time and not prerecorded like everybody else. Feels like im not cheated to be forced to watch the same outro over and over again. That’s effort. That’s what sets this channel apart.
Just made my first Grilled Cheese myself. Great recepie and technique. I used Gouda, Swiss Appenzeller Cheese ans Roqueford for some extra punch. Didn‘t have Tomato Soup, so I chopped up tomato with some olive oil an Aceto Balsamico an put it on top. Perfect dinner.

I used the dry toasting/mayo technique the other day from seeing it on another one of your videos, and it was sooooo much better than with butter! The crisp was there and it wasn't soggy at all! (which is good cause I had 4 cheeses, pulled pork and mac and cheese on it!)

I made it this evening for a quick meal, and OMG! The sandwich was phenomenal!! My iteration was a mozzarella and cheddar cheese mix, with some honey roasted ham. The mayo gave it such an elegant crunch, it was superb!

I'm studying for finals so feeling very peckish atm, so just made this (mayo and all) with the cheese I had at home (aged Canterbury cheddar, pecorino Romano & Parmesan). Holy shit, omg just heaven. Literally the best snack ever. Also took your advice and grated extra into a container for another few snacks in the coming week, and while it's a treat it's not unhealthy if you use quality cheese so it's guilt free too. Taster on the soup (haven’t finished with the cream yet) but the soup was fantastic, the extra flavor of the fennel is a great addition.

I came for the Calbrian pepper pasta sace and stayed for the grilled cheese. Try adding a tomatoe. It is heaven.

For people finding it difficult to find red waxed Gouda (it's not that easy to find over here and we're right next to The Netherlands; they're really big on exporting it far and wide, instead of competing with the more locally established, Gouda varieties), French Comté cheese is kind of a premixed version of that with Swiss Gruyère. So substitute it in a pinch.

Does the outside cheese always look like that? I've been making inside out grilled cheese for a while using the FoodWishes recipe, and the outside cheese ends up looking a lot prettier than that. Granted it probably takes longer to cook that way.
The Mayo is most surprising…. But it really does work!
The cheese recipe is GREAT
But a less demanding version I use is decent Swiss plus some Parmesan

Why would you let it rest? Grilled cheese is crucial to be hot and melty still for the gooey stretch! :)

Fun video! I have to laugh though every time I hear the word Gouda [goo-da] , as everybody in the US just pronounces that terribly wrong. It's not even close. I know you listen to your Italian friends, we need to get some more Dutch people on here too 😉... Go-dag or gow-dah would be much closer to how the city and cheese from said city in pronounced.
Going to try this though, and as a Belgian and big fan of mayo, we always have that in the house.
You could be the only person on the planet to get me to us mayo.
hey, viewer from the Netherlands here. Have you have ever used an aged gouda? From my experience it melts pretty well and it has this really nice rich flavour, I think it pairs really nicely with a gruyere. My guess is that it's also really expensive over there, so you might never actually be able to try that.
I use to chef years ago in my infant adult years (20-25)
so I tried this method different bread different cheeses but same bog standard supermarket mayo

I've never used light mayo so I can't guarantee the same result. Although I think it'll be ok. But Hellman's original mayo is the best for this.
