  • The rhythm will be played by Charis School's Six Grade Students using the drums while the melody and ostinato will be divided between the marimba players. This piece combines basic samba grooves with light touches of melodic fragments. It follows another classic structure, the fast-slow fast division found on classical music. It starts with a basic call and response on the drums, followed by a minor-key melody repeating over beats. The slow part then begins with the marimba playing a rolled-melody, sustaining it over the entire part. The last part recaps the first theme, again using the call and response as a take off point.
