  • If you're using multi-instance LED fixtures in your show (who isn't????), you're gonna want to set up a nice, clean layout for them. I find these layouts are so much more useful than a visualizer because they're easy to read and they stay in sync with the timing of all the effects you're running. Visualizers just can't keep up.
    I'm gonna show you a couple of quick tricks to speed up the creation of this layout - including using clone to copy the arrangement of one multi-instance fixture to all the rest. It's a great time saver.

    Now that’s a nice trick!
    Long time listener; first time caller.
    I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your expertise and the subsequent knowledge that you, and few other programmers, have shared on CZcams over the years. Getting into this niche community is tough enough but showing up armed with the fundamental knowledge to succeed is what turns dreams to reality.
    Just thankful this part of the internet exists, and wanted you know how much your work is, and has been, deeply appreciated.

    Hi Cat, always nice to learn tips from you! ;)
    Trying to set the right mAtricks to move the JDC1.. but didn't work.. i set the block to 24 and i use Align < ... any tips ?

    • @consoletrainer
      @consoletrainer  Před 4 lety +4

      Hi Vlad!
      Yes! It’s gonna sound unnecessary, but add an interleave to your blocks of 24: the interleave needs to be a multiple of 24 that’s at least as high as the total number of cells you’re aligning. For example, if you have 7 JDCs, you’d need an interleave of at least 168 (7 x 24). But the number can be a higher multiple of 24 and it will still work. I’d recommend going with higher multiple so it will work with more selections of JDCs.
      Thanks for the nice comment!

    Hi Cat, Do you know how i can change the pan/tilt speed of a fixture in order to be the same between the real speed and the ma3D speed? Is it something i have to change inside the XML fixture profile file? Thanks a lot

    Hi Cat, sorry for my english i might not use the right words but how do you move the b eye's cells that way ? You're talking about Matricks but i can't make my Matricks active in the setup of my layout to arrange my MagicBlade's cells the way i want. They all move together or 1 by 1, i can't move them 7 by 7 ! Hope you understand my question ahah, thank you for your very usefull video, bye !

    • @consoletrainer
      @consoletrainer  Před 3 lety

      Your English is great! Don't worry. :)
      I think you already have a block of 7 in your MAtricks? After that, are you using ALIGN? (I used the first mode of ALIGN in my video).
      Then, if it's still not working right- check out the suggestion I made to Vlad in his comment below. You might need to add an interleave (honestly, I've seen some versions of software where interleave is necessary and some where it is not).
      I hope this helps!

      Same here. And it doesn't clone with the proper layout. It's all over the place

  • @kecknmj

    Is it possible to have multiple of the same cell in a layout view? For instance if you have a fixture that only allows you to control zones instead of pixels, but you still want an accurate representation of the fixture.

    • @consoletrainer
      @consoletrainer  Před 4 lety

      Can you tell me what the fixture is?
      The MA isn’t going to allow you to put any cell (because a cell is a fixture) in the layout more than once. You’ll get the pop-up that says it’s already in the layout.

    • @kecknmj
      @kecknmj Před 4 lety

      Consoletrainer - Cat West Gotcha, the fixture is very similar to a Chauvet RX2 Wash. Basically they break up the zones into 3 independent rings

    • @consoletrainer
      @consoletrainer  Před 4 lety

      If the zones work in similar fashion to beye “shapes”, then it’s probably not going to visualize. If it does visualize and you need to see both pixels and zones at the same time- you’ll need 2 layouts in your view. It’s all about how the DMX layout and fixture profile is set up. You can send the info to MA or your distributor’s tech support department to ask.
      I’ve never had a tour tell me it “no” when I ask to have one physical unit in previz when it has onboard options that don’t visualize. Sometimes that’s the only way to go.

  • @nileshstagelightsdesigner4016

    Hi my question is how is change model in 3d Chauvet 4x4 48 Chanel ?

    • @consoletrainer
      @consoletrainer  Před 4 lety

      Depends on what type of file you have. If your new model is part of a fixture profile, use import in the console's patch... See this video:
      czcams.com/video/7wnCO9N5OUY/video.html
      If you want to put in 3Ds file, then you need to put that in via the MA3D program. Follow the instructions here: help2.malighting.com/Page/grandMA2/3d_import-3d-model-to-ma3d/en/3.3
      They also have instructions you want to create the 3Ds file yourself at help2.malighting.com/Page/grandMA2/3d-modeling-and-import/en/3.3

    Hi Cat
    Are you on shaper mode on thé K20???

    • @consoletrainer
      @consoletrainer  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi!! The K20s are in the extended mode with both shapes and pixel mapping. In the video, the looks were built with FX and chasers on the individual cells of the units, not shapes. The built-in shapes unfortunately don’t visualize because they’re like on-board effects in the unit.
      I think it might be possible in the future to have stuff like shapes show up in visualizers and consoles (GDTF is supposed to support this type of thing), but it’s gonna be super time consuming for manufacturers to build all that stuff into their files, so it will be interesting to see who will do it.
      Whenever I’m doing pre-programming for a show and we’re gonna be using something like a K20, I always ask to have one of the physical units in pre-viz with me... it’s the best way to write the presets. I do love those shapes.

      Hi Lu!
      First select all the lights that you want to move to the center, then change the “Move X” and “Move Y” values to 0. That sets those lights to an X,Y value of 0,0- which is the center of the screen. 😀🍕

      Hi Brian! Everything on the X4 bars in this video was made with Effects. I've actually moved away from using Bitmaps for the most part, just because the effect engine is so much more malleable. I hope this helps. :)
