- It is finally time I talk about my issues with Dead rising 4 as a whole, I have put in allot of hours navigating this mess of a game and I can now finally put my finger on the feelings I have towards it.
This is a third Dead Rising video in a trilogy, and I'm very happy with this one, and I hope you enjoy it too!

I love hearing passionate dead rising fans talk about the series it's such a unique experience as a viewer. The series is one that simple decisions like the time can be enough to just push someone interested like me. Dead rising had zombies in a mall. It literally should be my favourite game. Also I'm loving your audio design Netflix need to hire you.

I am so happy people actually gave the survivor’s and zombie’s personality, design, and character some credit! They’re underrated and not a lot of people gave credit to them.

coming from a not so fan of the series, even I can admit this game is just terrible the marketing, the handling of the game, The handling of the characters of the game, everything was just a disaster.

You know... This is seriously something we need more of in both CZcams and in the gaming community overall..
A nuanced take, like play a game that wasn't well received but spend enough time with it so you get to understand what was truly good or bad about it. It's too easy to be negative, it's too easy to simply go "game bad" and then dismiss it, I don't think it's fair for the developers and for all the work they put into it, even if the game isn't up to par.
Which brings a fun question... Even if the story wasn't as good as the other entries were known for, if you had fun with your time playing the game, then was it truly a bad game?

I actually think DR4 is alright, especially taking how fast it was made and while lies and deceptions still are unforgivable and missing potential is heartbreaking I still had fun. It's one of the most missing potential games ever produced in my opinion, even the basic themes were very cool.

I love the no timer open world.. I like to level up and go thru the game and then once I’m stronger I like to explore… I don’t know why people always have to have it be difficult… awesome game 2 me
I personally think that no one in the Dead Rising community is against a "no timer" idea, but they're against it in Dead Rising as the timer was part of the game's gameplay and identity. The timer served multiple purposes such as the narrative saying all that's happening is within three days as well as the gameplay being built around managing your time. Do you have to like that? Of course not, but that also means Dead Rising isn't meant for you.@@jamesmull5341

I watched another Dead Rising 4 video recently and left them a comment. I'm just going to copy and paste it here, since it's just as relevant to this video's thesis as it was to the other. Copied text follows-
"I've noticed recently that the hot takes on Dead Rising 4 seem to be defending it on one or more levels.Opinions will always vary of course, but I notice two camps with uniquely different takes.
The measured take is that it's a good zombie game, just a bad Dead Rising game. Fair, reasonable, and a considered approach to a controversial topic.
The second, and coincidentally my take, is that it is concentrated ass cancer printed onto a disc and that it fails on every level, even as a passable zombie game. Seriously, I've seen phone games with more complex minute-to-minute game design.
I can go on for days about how much I hate Dead Rising 4 and this revisionist take that "oh it's not that bad" just baffles me. Admittedly, I'm a huge fan of earlier titles. I cite the original Dead Rising as my favorite game to ever be released and I've been a gamer since the 70's when gaming began. So my bias cannot be ignored nor should it be. However, am I taking crazy pills here? The game looked awful. I know 3 was divisive among fans, but I've never heard anyone complain that it was an ugly game. I've heard people say they didn't like the darker color palette or that the art direction felt off from the previous ones and that's fair. But no one says the look is bad, just not to their tastes. 4 though, the graphics looked worse than games on previous console cycles. And I don't care how many times they say it, I just was not impressed with either the number of zombies on screen nor their designs. They looked so homogenous and uninteresting. Mostly because cutting a swath through them was the only string in this games bow so why bother making any of them distinct or memorable?
I dunno, I'm still angry about Dead Rising 4 all these years later. Life is tough, joy is hard to come by, and Dead Rising was my respite in a tumultuous world. And 4 killed it. Even if you give it a pass on whatever grounds, it's failure cannot be argued. Between low sales, the shuddering of Capcom Vancouver, and the fact that the real ending was cut off and sold back to you after the fact, I just cannot accept any defense of that concentrated pile of ass cancer printed onto a disc."

I hope CAPCOM Japan will return to Dead Rising. In an interview with Keiji Inafune, he stated that CAPCOM had a lot of projects at the time, which resulted in Dead Rising being outsourced to CAPCOM Vancouver. I feel Vancouver's additions of combo weapons, combo vehicles, and reimagining Dead Rising 2 with Frank West was the best they did with the Franchise. Although they never captured the magic of the first game.
I'm worried that CAPCOM might see Dead Rising as not profitable just because of 4; then again, they always demanded a new game from Vancouver so who knows...
And Yes, I played the shit out of Dead Rising 4. Yes, I had fun. No, I did not like the story, or characters. No, I did not like the removal of Psychopaths, Survivors, and the time limit.
I think it needs a reboot, I think going back to basics in the mall would work.
But make it on the RE engine and show us the horror of the Zombies.

@@frankkennedy6388 my theory on this is with, Resident Evil 3, I feel they was testing those waters, that part in the hospital where you get horded I feel they was seeing how they can push it.

To be fare I enjoyed dead rising 4 and I think the reason Frank is the way he is was because the government tried to pin everything on him so he doesn't care anymore think dead rising 2 was the best personally

Dead rising 1 was very fun when you beat the story there this dead 7 day survivor and you have 14 hours and can’t save that I really want to try but the rage be crazy if I die because you have to eat a lot of food.

Had to stop at the 9 min mark. Cause I have recently played deadrising 4. Only because i played a decent while back and because of the corrupt save file for the capcom hero dlc crap I stopped playing. Because I made it like 60% percent of the way through and the game just went naw fam you not playing no more and the save corrupted when trying to reload it.
But as much as I agree that deadrising 4 sucks. I will not agree with the portrayal of frank. For a main reason. As you said. To much ptsd. But you have to think of this as well.
Frank has been through 2 outbreaks 3 counting deadrising 4. I'm sure many of us would have his attitude that he is tried of it. He tries to find the comedy in the matter because he is use to it by now. An he can simply deal with it. He some how has the necessary skills to deal with the bullshit.
He has a feeling like the rest of us more or less did. Of course the United States government is behind another outbreak. Of course the United States is trying to use zombies to cut down cost of what the fuck ever with less labor in mind to pay for certain things. Of course there are going to be humans that become your run of the mill psychos or maniacs that take advantage of the situation or try to do the tribe thing. Of course there is some other mutant zombie bullshit the is immune to all previous story elements of a cure. I can keep going.
In other words the game was predictable on all fronts. The reason people played was because of the silliness that could be had while playing with that element kinda being removed for a strict story desgin. Which by all means is fine as a whole.
But with the game ending with frank actually dying. It was a relief for once. It means the game could move on and oh wait they bring him back? FUCK!!!!
Cause I means seriously. If the deadrising name is to survive it needs to move on from the other characters. Bring them back for a cameo appearance to help out with information or something like that. But move on with a new protagonist. I would even agree to a female protagonist at this point.
Cause literally. At least there of those capcom hero outfits would have been better on a female character. Just saying.
But seriously. Deadrising 2 moved on from frank. Then all the batching about where is frank forced capcom to not only make one dlc for the game that included him but an entire alternative reality game featuring frank over chuck.
The only reason deadrising 3 was liked was because Frank wasn't in it. I hated that Chuck was in it. Only sort of disliked that his daughter was in it. Absolutely hated Isabella was in it cause of course. Hard not to see how that outbreak really started.
But deadrising 4. Had the perfect opportunity to have a female lead to completely remove frank from the game and have him go on vacation or something.
But no. We got a frank trying to deal with ptsd and being disassociated with the whole story because he is trying to work through the shit of not getting attached because he knows that it will get him no where and it's easier to do the story,sell the story,and then let the government do what it's going to do and cover it up. Bascially like real life.
So I mean. Again. I'll agree. The game sucked.
But the character. Give me a break alittle.

If anyone cares about the character, it's myself. This game has tons of issues that I could go on about all day.
But Frank's change of writing and humour is one that needs to be addressed for the general tone.
You haven't proved anything to me, other than showing me you are incapable of taking a few minutes to FINISH a video and hear others out.

For me. Yea sure frank isn't the best. Because to me. Deadrising 4 needed a new protagonist to continue the cycle of having new protagonist to keep the games going if they wanted to. Giving a new outbreak every few years with someone new and either have a wacky tone,serious tone or some mix of the two.
To me mechanically there are issues. But none that are any different from the other games.
Also. To me. There is no such thing as a game having a budget. The developers of the games have to have employees skilled employees at that to make the game. They have to pay there employees. All they did was reuse old assets from the previous game just retextured. They didn't really have to do much except make the areas which most often he building seem like reused assets as well. An I could go on as well.
I have run through the game twice now. Three times if you count the frank dlc that removes Frank's death and all that bullshit an running through the game again this time getting the few things I have missed which isn't much.
I have my critiques about the game. But it's still fun to play. I have recently played through the first game. Took me a minute with the second game to get a controller to work for it. Capcom removed controller support for it when removing its dlc from the pc port. An I finished deadrising 3 and it's lost stories dlc for which are stupid because timing doesn't match up with events from the story all to well.
Overall. Deadrising 4 isn't great. But it's doesn't deserve the shit it's gotten because of crunch an capcom shooting down every other idea that they were given. We get what we got because the game industry refuses to let there games cook for a few years till everything is ironed out.
Imagine being such a zoomer that you get 100 hours of gameplay out of this dung heap. It's legitimately one of the lousiest zombie games you could be playing outside of some really old stuff I could mention.
