Essendon play North Melbourne in round ten to try and secure their spot in the top 4! Chapters 0:00 - Intro 0:29 - P.O.T.Y Votes 1:00 - Preview 9:49 - Prediction
This funnily enough is the real test. It is time to see whether we are able to dominate and maintain our focus with a 4 quarter effort and dominate on the score board, percentage is the goal here.
@@arthurritis249 WC at home is a tougher challenge given they had a few seniors back to their best; and Waterman in sizzling form. Sadly for them those guys went back to the injury list last week. WC made a meal of Freo and only lost to Sydney by 4 goals; WC are much harder than North.
@@Alby911 my point is about putting four quarters together against teams we know we should beat. West coast aren’t that far off North if your being objective. They’ve won the same amount of games over the last few years. Slight better list but nothing that should worry a team with the expectations of Essendon. I understand your point but the difference isn’t as great as your making it out to be in my humble opinion. Go bombers!!
@@arthurritis249 - WC's 2023 season was a complete write-off, they were decimated by injuries to senior players and even struggled to field a competitive reserves team. 2023 completely skewed their win-loss ratio. WC have been far more competitive this season than North
Isnt it utterly shit that every supporter feels this way? Bottom teams, oh no! Danger games! This is potentially where Essendon can prove to its fans that it has changed. It is real.
@@richardbehan8118 we should. I think history tells us the old Essendon shits the bed at this juncture. Is this the new Essendon or the same old same old?
I hope that within next 2 games we win by a combined 100 points or more, I may be asking too much but the team still have things to prove to the competition and their supporters.
I don't think that's possible unless Wright and Jones can snag a few, and Stringer to add few digits to his new contract. As good as we're travelling Langford needs backup but hopefully this weekend other forwards can gain a bit form.
In years past I would be worry about this game and I don't want to eat my words. I feel like this is the most consistent brand of footy I have seen in the last 10 years and considering that we have basically a full strength team I don't see any world where we lose this game.
It's scary to think that we might be 2nd on the ladder by end of this round. As we are expected to beat North Melbourne easily. Who would have predicted that? Finally, Essendon think tank decided to bring in Nick Bryan and Nate Caddy into the side. With Draper undergoing surgery and won't be available for at least 6 to 8 weeks, placing him on a long-term injury list makes more sense. He may be available by round 18 but would still be underdone due to long-term injury. Draper is going to be a no 1 ruckman for going forward. But he didn't set the world on fire this season. He may be playing with injury and probably the reason he was finally gone under the knife. By placing him on long term, which will mean Essendon will be able to pick up another gem from the mid-season draft and also play Nick Bryan, who is on form. I know there will be verbal brickbats thrown at me for my comments. My comments are based on what is good for our team.
Would be nice to get a look at Caddy but can't see Wright or Jones making way. Only two players from last years top 15 drafted yet to debut; Caddy and Gothard
@@taliamason7986 Visentini isn't ready either; splitting hairs between the two. Vis would have to replace Wright given their ruck/forward role. I'd rather keep Wright at this stage
why do you not have Zac Reid and Caddy in for Laverde and Harry Jones out? Perfect game to debut Caddy - and Reid got over 26 disposals in the VFL last week - for him to ever become a player - he needs to be in the side...
@@everythingessendon548 slightly injured is code for time for him to be out of the side and back to the VFL... perfect result.. looking forward to seeing what Caddy can produce!!
Ridiculous. Reid needs games in the VFL to prove his body will hold up. Laverde was terrific last game. Jones has been really good. Caddy has to earn a game. nb Huge gap between VFLAND afl
@@ronbr1000 Rebuttal to your comments incoming: Reid is not going to get AFL match fit in VFL.. if he is that fragile we might as well get rid of him... Laverde was good against GWS I agree, but has been the weakest link in our backline since Ridley and Reid went down... so he is of course on borrowed time until Reid or Ridley are available... harrison Jones has NOT been good since Peter Wright has come in - (has he even kicked a goal since?) Caddy debuting against North would be a great opportunity - considering he is likely already a better player than half of their AFL list....

Ruthless is exactly what we need to be to show where we are now. We now need to make a statement to the AFL world.

Great Review. We should be 10+ goals better, but I will happily take a 20 pt win with no major injuries. GO DONS!!!!

Good challenge for the club to aim for.
Forget % North will lift (as always) against us. This coupled with unconscious relaxing by Essendon means the quest for serious % will disappoint.
Essendon win by 80 points.
@@richardbehan8118 We can only hope ...

I'd rest some players, maybe heppell and give Roberts and caddy , tsastas some more exposure
Seems like we are going in with a relatively unchanged team, depending on Jones' fitness.
Some percentage would be nice.
Why do I get the feeling we won't be getting any.

He's aged 8 years in his time at Essendon.
Yes incorrect, it's 86
And he may be playing on next year as well.
@@everythingessendon548 I really hope he does. He's the best tap ruckman we have had in decades.
This is the chance to massively improve percentage. If we go down this week then just close up for the year
Good to see Nick Bryan getting a game.
Extended bench… maybe getting a game… hopefully
He may just be named as an emergency.
Nth have only played one of the top4 teams so far been the cats so id say even if Dons made 6changes they should still take victory by a min 60pts

I can imagine the Dons kicking 5 goals 20 and losing by a point!

Caddy isn't close to ready for AFL footy. If anything Visentini deserves a chance in the forward line given how great he has been in the VFL.
