- This is a POV of the Little Mermaid Ride: Ariel's Undersea Adventure at Disney's California Adventure, in Anaheim California in HD. Video includes Line, queue and POV.
This is a dark ride attraction based on the film The Little Mermaid, located in Paradise Gardens Park at Disney California Adventure and in Fantasyland at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom Park, where it is titled Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid. The ride opened on June 3, 2011 at Disney California Adventure, with the Magic Kingdom version of the ride opening in late 2012.
A dark ride featuring The Little Mermaid was supposed to open at Disneyland Paris and Magic Kingdom parks in the early to mid 90's. Early plans for Tokyo DisneySea and Hong Kong Disneyland also included this ride. None of these versions were actually built, although a computer-generated ride-through animatic was included on the Platinum Edition DVD of The Little Mermaid in 2006.
The ride building in this version takes up the space of the theater that played host to the Golden Dreams movie hosted by Whoopi Goldberg. The theater itself has been torn down. The restrooms by Golden Dreams have been relocated across the way in the San Francisco buildings. The previous area they occupied has been torn down and is taken up by part of the show building. In September 2009, Disney officials announced that Mickey's Toontown Fair at the Magic Kingdom would be demolished to make room for an expansion of Fantasyland, leaving Goofy's Barnstormer. One of the new elements would be a Little Mermaid dark ride, much like the one slated for construction in California.
In the first version of the ride during the "Under The Sea" segment(you can see it in the video), Ariel had hair that looked like a soft-serve ice cream cone according to Disney Dan. It did make sense with the movie but it looked weird and strange and everyone was asking "Why is it doing that?" (it was somewhat a controversy), so shortly after the ride opened they redid the Ariel animatronic in this scene. Special Thanks to Disney Dan for stating that out in one of his videos as Wikipedia doesn't state this, also this doesn't count in Extinct Rides.
On March 20, 2014, the attraction at Disney California Adventure closed for maintenance. It reopened May 10, 2014 with several enhancements; new sea creature figures were added throughout the ride, a view of King Triton's castle was added, the "Under the Sea" scene was given a blacklight treatment, and the Ariel and Prince Eric figures' sculpted hair was replaced with realistic hair in the "kiss the girl" and "finale" scenes.

That part where you go underwater at 2:52 is pretty believeable- Not only does the lighting effect change, but cold air blows on you, so it feels like you're going underwater too!

It's funny that they made the crab talk because there were a stop or an emergency (nor a failure), I think it's cute and it's a good solution when this happens. And since they recorded that voice it must happen often

I went on this ride the first week it was opened. So i went on the ride with my mom and we were getting towards the end of the ride and my mom started crying. The little mermaid is her favorite movie.
i went to disneyland/california adventure a couple weeks ago just to go on this ride. i was like a little kid, and when my mom started talking i was all "SHHHH. it's AMAZING." lol, the little mermaid is my favorite movie EVER.

Nicky van Bezouw according to the wikia it's considered as a chariot as in, King Tritons chariot but even in the movie he rode in a giant shell in the beginning of the movie.
I love this ride so much when me and my mom went last year and in 2018 we rode this ride like 7 or 8 times because we love it so much. And there's hardly any lines for it like when it first opened.... It's such a cute ride...

I was wondering what that blue box thing was. Now I know that it's a handicap seat for people in wheelchairs. The one at Disney World is probably like that too
I love how they skipped over a huge chunk of the story. lol They just show a tiny Ursula in the corner, who looks like a burned shrinky-dink.

For some miraculous reason, there was no line to go on this ride. I think it was because of World Of Color. It was AWESOME! I would have waited an hour to ride this!

I loved this ride and the line actually went really quickly. I thought the animatronics were insane and I want to go ride it again.

@beedoggie Aww. It's ok. Everyone it's time to add a Disney tear up moment from your life! The last time I was there so many years ago as a teen, I was lucky for being able to go. It was during rockin in both parks. I went on my favorite ride from when I was little, it's a small world, and I cried thinking of those wonderful childhood memories I was so lucky to have. I was so glad I was sitting in the front away from everyone though, or else they'd see me crying. Disneyparks are truely magical

perhaps I can be of assistance...1.)its the wheelchair accessible vehicle its known as King Tritons Chariot the backside turns into a ramp and they simply go inside and they lock into place and they are on their way.
2.) lines for The Little Mermaid range from 10-30 minutes on average.
3.) as of this moment in time The Little Mermaid Ariels Undersea Adventure does not have Fastpass
I shall leave number 4 for CoasterViews to answer that. but I hope that helps out a bit.

haha they had to stop and the people were still moving ha!
also, a good way to skip this line without a fastpass is going on either first thing when the park opens, or during or right after world of color. i went on first thing in the morning and right after we watched world of color, and there was no line at all.
@jillfoot So It beats waiting in line for 2 hours! You could go ride another ride and then comeback you dont gotta be doin nothing until that time

this ride is great dont get me wrong , but i was a lil disappointd. it seems like most of the scenes are centerd around one animatronic, except for under the sea and finale. the AAs look amazing and lifelike but the lil ones around them seem super plain and "its a small world"-ish. they shud add some bubbles flowing up thruout the ride like in under the sea, it feels like ur in a big room. and real water for Kiss the girl. but its still a beautiful ride
