If you don't swing hard enough you get nothing. If you swing too hard you get a pretty nasty vibration back to your hands and wrists. I've been curious about this gadget for months, but I'm sticking with my heavy maul. Thanks for this review.
Useful video, thanks. I appreciate your honest review; it seems so many CZcams reviews are positive as a rule because the reviewer is hoping free tools will be sent their way (or maybe they just don't actually have much experience with comparable models). What a gimmicky $350 piece of crap! Why fix what isn't broken?
tututalak Thanks for appreciating my video. This weekend, I'm trying out the original Leveraxe 1. Check back next week for that video review. I'm hoping it works better since it weighs more. I'll give you my honest results.
I have found that gripping the handle too hard will keep the head from rotating and hence a non-split. I did not have any vibration from the handle. I think the proper grip is the key. This tool is very different from traditional mauls. $350? I paid $180 from Amazon. My under 5' 105# wife split wood for 30 minutes and I had to take the axe away from her so I could use it.
I just love my Vipukirves 1 Leveraxe. It really takes some time to get used to it, but once you do, you're hooked. The key really is to loosen your grip at the moment of impact. No trouble whatsoever with vibrations or sore wrists/elbows/shoulders. And I split about 30 m/3 (approx. 8 cords) of firewood each year. Tried to split some wood the other day with my neighbour's Fiskars: nearly took my leg off, I forgot that normal splitting axes don't stop after they split the wood. I'm really surprised about the amount of money you paid for it: over here in Holland you pay about $120 for the traditional leveraxe, about $190 if you want that to come with the composite handle, and about $210 for the Leveraxe 2 ( the one you're testing in this video), all prices include shipping as well. This whole axe is about technique, not brute force and ingorance. Which is important for me, since I'm only 5'4 and 120 pounds...
I liked the Leveraxe1 better than the 2, shown in this video. If I'm splitting straight grained wood, the axe worked well. If I'm trying to split stringy wood such as elm, then it struggles a bit. I would like to try the composite handle sometime.
+riderxadams I had better luck with the Leveraxe 1. They're coming out with a new design for the Leveraxe 1, where it features a composite handle. Hopefully it vibrates less.
+crgaillee I purchased it off of Pond5.com. I should just caution you that it's expensive, since it's royalty-free, where I can use it freely in my vids.
+Morten Hoff It's different than what I'm used to. I reviewed the original LeverAxe after this one and think I followed the instructions better, by chopping the edges.

That's impressive! Glad it's working well for you. I like the other LeverAxe. It's a little heavier, I believe.
I think this confirms my suspicions....
American trees are tougher than Finnish trees...😂
Haha, yep.🤣🙌

what is the name of the song u played?
+crgaillee It's called Epic Trilogy. I plan on using it in another video this week, as long as the weather cooperates for shooting my vid.
Thank you. good video. looking fwd to the next one.
could you put a link to the song for me. I cannot seem to find it. Thank you.

Holy Jesus did you see the price for a new handle ?// 70 form the manufacture leverax.com/product-category/leveraxe-handle/
That's interesting. I think the original handle is made of ash, not hickory. I'm curious if the new composite handle has less vibration?
Say Heah, Thanx You. Dilly Dilly.,,.p
Hey there! The original LeverAxe is the best. Dilly Dilly
markthomasbuilder, heh heh heh. Dilly Dilly, catchie eah. Thanx You for the tip., Dilly Dilly.,,.p
could never afford it.
You should have watched the instruction movie better before you tested this axe. You are chopping too big parts from the log.
