Grew up in Fairfield County -- left at 26. Even lived in Westport for 6 months as a child -- it was my favorite! Now at 62 I am living in Tulsa, OK (not for me) trying to decide where I will spend the last chapter of my life! Thank you for this video!

It's a beautiful community, as I recall in the 1970’s The school system is one the best in the state of Connecticut. The problem is very high state taxes, and is major hub for Westporters commute from the Metro North train which seriously needs to be upgraded, like the Brightline here in Florida. Westport is a very nice town, with beautiful downtown, and beaches. It's very expensive, but is a charming town with very pleasant vibe, close knit community.

I grew up there for a few years and it is a great place, especially in the lagoon areas. I remember waterskiing every morning before going to school, rollerblading around Bermuda road and lots of forest time. Staples High School is an amazing school with excellent programs and great great educators! I miss it so much! It even made me a photographer!
I can agree about what was said about the people though, it is a posh place and not everybody is open for cultures and differences, but there are many nice people as well

I could add the smart thing to do would be to bring back a version of the Mini-Bus to eliminate the traffic! Train to downtown and the beach! problem solved!

It’s a beautiful place with a lot of amenities. The cons are random homeless people - I was accosted at train station middle of day ; Staples is great but not for all kids it’s a crazy pressure cooker and not all kids do well there; kids are entitled - they all have cars; filled with people keeping up with the Jones’

I've lived next to Westport for 7 years. There is one big con you missed. The people are VERY VERY pretentious and pompous, of corse this is a generalization but still from my experience it is very common. Everyone tries to show off their wealth and the sense of entitlement is unreal. All that being said it is a very beautiful town and compo beach is very very nice and I have a lot of great memories there.

That's too bad you feel that way. I grew up in Westport and we weren't wealthy and the students I went to high school w/weren't and if they were, they weren't showy or entitled.
I love Westport and I wonder if "Luigi's Pizza" is still located on Post Rd, Fairfield...it's the best pizza I've ever had in my life... wow...and great fine dining as well as excellent bakeries.
I once wanted to see where Paul Newman/Joanne Woodward lived and it took me forever to hike there and as I stood on the road taking a looksie, one of their dogs, a terrier came running out and viciously barking his head off at me and I ran away. Lol!
Oh and the fall colors must look gorgeous! I'm getting carried away...nice to read these comments and watch the video. Have a nice day.🌺😊

Nicely said, I already suspected this from watching a few videos about Westport. As always, the best information is in the comments, right?

If you grew up in westport during the 70s I'm sure you'll agree that life was so easy. If you're kid and you don't have a ride to the beach, just flag down the minibus. With the over population westport has lost most of its charm.

While Connecticut is mostly a beautiful state, it is run by a destructive government policy, high taxes and over restrictive of your freedoms, Costs are extremely high and while the shore line and mountains of the Berkshires are beautiful it's not easily accessible and much of the access is privately owned..I was born there, lived there BUT it is no longer what it was...just saying....
