- An insane story of two tennis matches that took place back in 2014. Andy Murray and Tommy Robredo met in the final of the ATP 250 in Shenzhen and again in the final of the ATP 500 in Valencia 4 weeks apart from each other. Both games were absolutely stunning. Truly a one in a million tennis story. Hope you enjoy it!

And yet it’s become trendy for people to be so dismissive of the old “big 4” term in CZcams comments. A stat like that shows why “big 4” was a thing at the time. I’m sure the rest of the great players on tour didn’t see facing Murray in a final too differently to facing one of the big 3.

I remember both Finals. Watched both on TV as it happened. The Shenzhen final was bonkers!
I remember going to cook breakfast at the 6-2 in the Shenzhen breaker because I thought it was over. I came back to what I expected to be the trophy presentation. Instead I saw Murray up 5-1 in the 3rd set. I was FLOORED!!!
At least in Valencia Robredo didn’t give up in the 3rd set. That match was incredible and the match point rally to win it was superb!!! Fierce fighting by Murray in both matches.

Right! At least in 2 of those match points he should have come to the net.
