This is the best video of this performance I've seen, thanks for uploading this 👍 Great audio and video quality! 👌
Agreed. Great sound quality.
Agreed, and lord knows Ive listened to probably most of em'. Skinny Love I hadn't heard before and I love it!
@@mamab4720 yeah Skinny Love is one of the few Bon Iver songs I knew from before Justin Vernon's collab with Taylor. That and Re: Stacks, that's another one I like. Gotta listen to more of their stuff!
@@mamab4720 The song that got me into Bon Iver was "Creature Fear" and I also love "Holocene"! Well, I love them all, but check those out!
@@starbucksmocha88 The song that got me into Bon Iver was "Creature Fear" and I also love "Holocene"! Well, I love them all, but check those out!
Real homies don’t hate on Taylor they respect the fact she is a musical icon who doesn’t stick to one genre or circle of influence
periodt
Respect. Artists appreciate artists.
Amen. Justin Vernon is my favorite artist, but I LOVE Taylor, and I’m not ashamed. She’s SO talented, especially lyrically. Of course, this ended up becoming my favorite song on her album immediately! And, like somebody else said - artists appreciate artists. And people who love music don’t have to love all music, but they should respect talent.
Absolutely
Amen
Love the fact that the crowd is silent we truly get to appreciate the beauty of this song being sung live
As an argentinian i cannot understand people not yelling the lyrics but tbh it was nice
Did you listen to Skinny Love? Everyone was singing.
They're not silent. You can hear them singing in the background but the recording is so close to the stage that it gets drowned out.
nah f that. the point of being in a room with a bunch of other people is to sing together. If you want to appreciate the song without people singing, there are countless recordings of it.
@@hastyscorpionI agree.
I love her concerts with a lot of swifties but I love her surprise show ups more. Because nobody is crazily freaking out, they are excited to see a superstar and listen to her sing but they are still in a calm mood which makes the duet more entertaining.
so true 🥹 i mean i am a swiftie but hearing this song in a much more calm crowd, just wow 🫶🏻
Because this song is an incredible song so it really hits... So many Bon Iver songs give me the feels and the lyrics of this one... Their voices work so well together. I can't help but get a little teary everytime I see this.
The colab, Exile, on her album is great too... Buuut her couple colabs with The National are definitely amazing..
I was at the first night and was literally dreaming about "what if Taylor was here and sang exile with the band", then thought, impossible, she just had a new album and is promoting it in the States. Damn!!!! Too surreal and lucky
It’s like you manifested it
She did an episode of Graham Norton, so presumably, the dates overlapped for her to come in.
Her private jet goooesss brrrrrr😅😅 jk
@@yrbigfan People need to get over her private jet stuff, she doesn’t fly as much as some unless she’s touring
Oh wow, that must have been amazing!
imagine seeing bon iver live AND taylor swift comes out of nowhere ???
omg the smile on Aaron’s face when she starts singing 😭😭😭
That’s what I noticed! That song and album is his baby too! 🥰
I think my favorite part of that was watching Aaron smiling so huge in the background while he was playing the piano. Just so happy to see this performance playing out live on stage.
omg so true😭
Totally agree! That smile on Aaron's face is priceless. Three brilliant artists on stage.
This song deserved the Grammy for best collaboration! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
No songs deserve Grammys. The Grammys are a joke.
Lost to Gaga Ariana Rain on Me 😢
@@chrisrenoir they said that too
@@cin2714 WTF!
This song came out a week after i kicked my husband out. This is the first time i was able to sit, dried eyes and listen to the song. Thank you Justin and Taylor for writing a song that mimics my past marriage.
Same here… ❤
He with a man huh ?
Wishing you the best!
Having Taylor just appear like that would be insane to experience
I'm always struck by what a class act Taylor is. When she has visiting acts on her stage it's always all about them and when she is their stage it's never about her.
Came for exile, stayed for skinny love
Could’ve done without the “my my my” guy singing next to the mic😂…incredible show this must’ve been!
Fuck yeah
@@kellyscorner3041 im reeealy sorry this was me 🤦♂️
@@The_Mark I forgive you. Thank you for sharing your love.
@@The_Mark When I saw Bon Iver, I sang along to his every word, too. It was impossible not to! I had so much fun!
AARON SMILING IS ADORABLE AHHHH
Two of the greatest songwriters of this generation and their voices are like peanut butter and jelly. Here's to more collaborations from these two!
Lol she is not a great songwriter. Every song she has is about her own break ups and they fking suck. I agree with you with everything else, but taylor is not even in the same boat as Justin
@Richard Growth you are talking like if Justin's most known song (and critically claimed album) isn't about a break up.
@@richardgrowth550 being a great songwriter isn't just about the idea of the song, it's about every meaning and symbolism she has made through writing lyrics and it shows she's a songwriter genius.
@@richardgrowth550you’re right, she is not great. She is at a level beyond great.
Lana says hello.
Aaron Dessner back there looking like a proud dad! ☺
I was there that night and what you don’t hear in the video is that the arena went craaaaaaazzzzzyyyy! crazy!!! it was so loud when she came out. An amazing experience
Thanks to all the Bon Iver fans (I’m one of them!) being so kind about Taylor! (I’m a fan of hers, too!) Some people can be such music snobs. I should know. I was one of them in high school and my 20s. What a waste of time! I missed out on such amazing music during that time. I'm so glad to see other Bon Iver fans not following in my footsteps and welcoming a pop artist that many groups' fans would just put down because of the type of music she sings.
This is actually incredible. She took on such a different genre to what she's associated to, she didn't take the lead in it but yet her performance is outstanding and the crowd had so much respect for her 😍
i love the warm reception of Bon Iver's community of fans to Taylor...thank you
My favourite song from folklore. The live performance was awesome!!
My fave too!
Absolutely. They were robbed of that Grammy!
I was there for this, the video doesn't quite do justice to the insane amount of noise people made when she came on stage. Was wild.
I’m sorry but their voices are amazing together. Taylor isn’t a pop or country singer she does it all. Her collaboration with different indie artists shows it.
Because of Joe's low voice and how well it fit the song, they decided that it needed to be a duet with someone who has a low register. They asked Bon Iver as they are both big fans of him. Justin Vernon, lead singer of Bon Iver, was inspired by the song and wrote the bridge. The making of a masterpiece. Thanks guys.
Lyrics sucks for non iver standards, poor Justin
@@hellodolly2551 yeah, Justin is really suffering being featured on the most famous female artist’s song 😭
@@hellodolly2551 boo “exile” was nominated for best pop duo/group performance at grammy
You mean Joe Alwyn?
Producer of Folklore Aaron Dessner, member of The National, who have collaborated with Justin Vernon for over a decade, and Big Red Machine who Aaron and Justin play in together, brought these two artists together.
Thank you SO much for this upload. Your front row seat manages to exclude the excited audience screams which usually drown out Taylor when she sings. Really appreciate it.
You're very welcome!
I second that! I'm homebound, haven't been to a show in 13 years. You have no idea how much people like me appreciate and enjoy videos like these. I miss live music more than anything. Thank you for bringing live music to me!
bon Iver's low notes so amazing
I’ve loved Bon Iver since 2010 and Taylor Swift since 1989 came out. Never would have imagined them collabing 😭
fr! they've been 2 of my favorite artists for years and years and just wow here we are!
Her voice in this is surreal
Wow a special moment. What an amazing “front woman” Taylor is too. She just commands your attention. And that look she gives after singing “insult to injury” at 2:16, like it’s theatrical, which makes her such a great performer. But yeah, Bon Iver is amazing of course in his own right.
-When he goes “So step right out~” and he does that Justin Vernon thing…
-That was the moment… Because when he added that part that was the moment that sent me into the universe with without any chance of returning. Because we had written up to that point and he added that and so when we got the recording back we had no idea what he was going to do. And when we heard that part it was just like, hands on face, face is melting, everything is made out of confetti…
I think he actually wrote that part, too.
I’m a Swiftie but this is officially a Bon Iver song more than Taylor’s 😂
Wish these two would make more music together.
I would have died! Its because of this beautiful song on her album that now I'm loving many Bon Iver tunes. They are all so talented.
And he follows it up with one of his greatest songs - SO GOOD. Justin Vernon’s vocal range is insane.
Such a beautiful song; it’s like a rose withering away in mid winter
this song is ridiculously beautiful
His voice reminds me of Leonard Cohen, so does this song. Especially with the haunting harmonies.
I was cleaning my house listening to 90s music through an app on tv. Somehow this song started playing. I’d never heard it, but I froze in place, a little sad this song found me. It is unfortunately a beautiful sound for someone losing a war within themselves.
❤
Came out as the long goodbye became abrupt. That was a rough one. Been almost 2 years and I can finally get through it without anger, hurt, or any other feeling other than love and gratitude for all the lessons learned. Thank yiu honeybee for the hard ones... I wish you the best!
The vocals on this song are sneaky hard. It’s slowly become one of my faves
My favorite song. The two perceptions they have of their relationship is so real to what happens when two people are on the brinks of breaking up. Great writing.
Hope Taylor bring out this song live with Bon iver one more time at The Era Tour!!!My all time fav song!!!!!!!!
Taylor turned up like a boss.
Aaron looking so proud and happy in the back
*Chills*. “5 whole minutes” 😭🎵
Holy crap, when this started I thought for a full minute I was hearing Eddie Vedder's voice!
Bon Ivor is king band n she is the queen
In terms of vocal chemistry and the way their voices blend this might be the best duet since “Suddenly” by Olivia Newton-John and Cliff Richard… And the songwriting is off the charts….
I love this video of this moment so much because you can hear the unexpected stirs of excitement in the audience when the piano first enters
Gosh the end to Exile kills me every time
Props to the lighting designer. Beautiful.
As someone who was at the night she wasn't there, this hurts to watch 🤣🤣
I wasn’t expecting to feel anything but excitement but I’m crying so hard right now
So amazing to be able to experience this ! Especially since they recorded this song separately, finally getting them both singing it on stage is really magical. I hope they keep working together
omg true i forgot about how they recorded separately ... during covid times omg
We got two reactions… when the front saw her and then when the back heard her! :-) 😊
I love the long pond studio version
YES!!! The vinyl is coming out April 22 for Record Store Day!!!
I was there and this was surreal
When their voices converge, fuck these two are so talented
this song always reminds me of snow patrol's sound and I wish she did this with gary lightbody
I don't think anybody but Justin Vernon could do this song justice, but Taylor does have a song with Gary Lightbody on her album Red. It's called "The Last Time," and I really enjoy it, but not nearly as much as "exile."
I would have died and gone to heaven. Two of my all time favorite artists!
Love Aaron's big smile at 1:59
Awwwwww! He’s so nervous his voice is shaking!
By far the best audio & visual of this performance. Thanks for sharing.
skinny love, forever, forever ago
their voices sound so good together ❤
Ok, I am getting Goose Bumps on my arms listening to these two.Touches me to the core.❤❤❤
This song is just so perfectly written!!♥️♥️😍😍
Best version I've seen
Chills and goosebumps on this number and it's 77 degrees F here in TX.
Few things:
1. I would have loved to have been there that night!!
2. The secondary reaction from the crowd in the back is so good realising it’s Taylor swift!!
3. Taylor not overpowering the performance and pairing so well
4. To then follow it with skinny love… just so not fair and so glad you captured it so thank you!!
It's a great collab. Epic moment when she takes the stage
Whoa! Give's me the shakes, amazing performance by both vocalist!
Heard this for the first time after finally watching the final episode of the third series of You. Been listening to it non stop for 3 days now.
omg watching it play out in you officially got me to love the song. i honestly wasnt so sure before!
Was hoping she showed up for his performance in providence. Happy to see it ended up happening on his tour. Great song
the kick drums in skinny love holy shit
Thank you for this! Taylor singing back up on this song is how the album is, and it seriously rocks.
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR SHARING!!! Didn’t mean to yell, but so excited to see so clear, close-up, and hearing it perfectly!! What a special night!!! ♥️
Bon Iver has all my heart
This is a combo I never thought I'd see/hear
A combo I never knew I needed. But now, I can't imagine how I lived before this song!
I'm dying omggggg taylor swift 😮
something about her live is just so magical
I hear God in that voice. Especially live. I swear angels come to listen.
so great .. was in Manchester a few weeks ago and was just epic .. to have Taylor appear is just amazing
I used to watch these vids and think wow imagine going to a concert for someone else and Taylor appears... then it happened to me in London too 🤯
omg u were here??
Omg you are so amazing for posting this ! You’re also so incredibly lucky you got to witness this song performed live and to have such an amazing view! Ugh god this song is so freaking beautiful! Lol thanks again for sharing this treasure ❤
