Scoring the video with drum improve is next level. The rooms look beautiful!!
Thanks dude! Yeah, I think the “live” improvised score worked out for the most part. Just one take lol
Soooo sick
We are gonna need the updated studio tour !
At 12:02 "It's almost seemless"
Drums go: *tu dum tss* 😂
Perfect detail
As the start of a fill too. Laughing throughout the video at the details Jake put in.
That was so funny!
Dude scored his own CZcams video with drums only. Antonio Sanchez would be proud.
beautiful work the new B room looks great I bet you are absolutely stoked about it haha. maybe a super LIVE drums pack coming soon with those concrete floors?
SO STOKED! Greazy Wil and I did a SUPER LIVE DRUMS pack in EastWest Studio 1 but it hasn’t come out yet. Def going to do one in the new room, as well!
Birdman/Antonio Sanchez vibe with the live score to the video!
nice space, how do you tell people you are a drummer without saying you're a drummer, show them your preamp rack.
Hahaha straight up
That and make sure all of the background music is just drums.
and Wow.. what a sweeet rack of pre's... good lawd.
superb. the drum improv allows viewer to stay effortlessly engaged and absorbed, which is no small feat. thanks for sharing your numerous and dynamic talents, always originally and without pretense, yet again.
Thank you!
Cool restoration and I appreciate the background groove.
Thanks!
Looks fantastic, Jake! Congrats!!!
Jake's instruction of destruction for reconstruction. Awesome dialog of construction lingo. I can feel the vibration of the drywall 705 construction.
looks fantastic congratulations Jake!
Thank you for posting this! Super helpful for DIY room treatments!
This is awesome, thanks so much for the tour 👏🏼
Wonderful. Hope both rooms treat you well for years to come.
Dude this is awesomeeee!! Congrats on the new studio mannn! And a big thankyou for some inspiration, I’ll be soundproofing my small home studio soon :)
Congrats on the new beautiful studio Jake!! I need your guys in Canada!
That's a pretty sweet--and hopefully waterproof--musical hideout, Jake! Congrats!
So much info packed inside this video. Thank you!
SO. AWESOME.
I cannot wait to see what comes out of this new space. Super happy for you, man!
Thank you! Stoked to explore this new sonic space.
LOVE the drum scoring!
Thanks! I think I’ll start doing this more often for my vids.
Love the Zoolander reference at 15:09.
The files are in the computer! 🤣
You guys did it perfectly! Ripped it down to the bones to do it clean from the ground up. Nice work!
Congrats man! It looks amazing. This was really informative for me.
Thanks dude! Happy to help!
Having a studio like this is a dream! awesome video like always. very nice to have a look behind the scenes and all the gear etc
Thanks so much!
Congratulations 🎈
GREAT VIDEO... LOL that "MLV" part was funny 😂
Love it, Jake...have fun in there!
Thanks, Paul!
Really fantastic snare sound.
Thanks!
Gorgeous reno, man! Between the acoustic fabric panels and polished concrete...I'm not sure which is more satisfying!
Awesome video love the studio! And the score was great too
Thank you!
congrats🙌
Congrats dude!
Loved the ba dum psh at 12:04.
The decoupling studs/acoustic blocks are so cool. I'm used to resilient channel or something similar.
Amazeballs. Great space.
Super informative!
Congrats!
Congrats
looks rad!
I dig the Birdman style score.
Congratulations
Great video.
So cool!
Just came here from your Bonham small room video. Bet you'd be incredible at recreating the huge Steve Albini sound.
Think of Then Comes Dudley by Jesus Lizard, drums sound like absolute cannons.
So awesome
Amazing.
Livin' the dream.
Nice! 😀
Thanks for sharing that. Interesting approach to acoustic treatment just building out whole sections of wall and ceiling as acoustic panels. Is it really dead in those areas? I recently did a soundproofing project on a granny flat (backyard flat) here in Australia. I used similar isolation techniques but with furring channel and isolation clips and a single layer of drywall. Turned out pretty good.
Nice preamp collection.
Is Andrew going to come by and do an updated studio tour?
Ha! That’d be amazing!
That's Killer!
Jake, this is amazing thank you for sharing! Can't wait to hear more... QQ for you re: Air. Are you using a ductless mini split - and do you have any challenges with ac sounds when recording?
Yep! Mini split … I turn it off when the red light goes on.
Jake Reed and the Dead Tones.
Hey, thanks for this video, so helpful. Is there a link to the acoustic blocks?
Where did the beautiful piano from the ‘before’ shot end up?
Hey man ,I like your video , can you give a run down on how you proceed for that crystal clean drum sound ? I know that those preamp have a lot to do with that but can you achieve that sound on a common 8track interface preamp ? Thx
Is the concrete flooring better than the heard wood that used to be there?
I don’t think I’ve seen contractors be less enthused by someone recording their work. 😂 “it’s almost seemless.” No one reacts.
Where did the grand piano go?
“The files are in the computer” 😂
Zoolander!
Did we just become best friends?
@@JakeReedmusic Step-Brothers!
This is so sick! thank you for sharing. I have a home with a separated garage in great condition that I want to do this to...do you know if these guys do estimates for outside of CA?
Thanks! I’m not sure … www.omnistudiobuilders.com/
What's your total studio size, including control? Your main room seems close to my space, and I am wondering how affordable a remodel would be. Thanks!
👍 👌
How much would it cost a random citizen like myself for a job like this? I'd LOVE to do this in my basement studio. My neighbors would love it too.
Really curious as well, I'm guessing hiring someone to do it would be at least $20,000 if not way more but I could also be way off too lol.
What are the stereo pair over the Gretsch kit at the end?
Sennheiser MKH 8040
I'm just wondering about that amazing drum sound, during this video
Thanks! It’s my 60s Gretsch with a Sugar Alaskan Cedar snare.
15:43 OH HI MESSI!!! :)
Kind of an off-topic comment, but do you happen to know the product they used for repairing the cracks in the wall? I could tell it was a Sika product, but would like to verify which one.
Who need back ground music when you are a musician 😂 make your own
Regular drywall or the special acoustic stuff?
Regular … I think
Care to share ballpark costs?
I've never seen those acoustic blocks before are those home made? How do they handle pull stress from a double layer drywall?
We usually use an acoustic caulk around the edges not sure what your crew used since they wanted to make it sound like it's some trade secret.
I can’t remember where they got the blocks from but they’re def not homemade. At 5:00 they talk about using acoustic caulk.
@@JakeReedmusic do you know where to buy those ?
What's that adjustable stereo bar ya got there?
Manfrotto Triple Mic Holder
@@JakeReedmusic oooo baybeee
Tell us how much everything costs!!! ;)
What’s that on top of the Rhodes ? I need one 🙏🏼
They’re these cool brackets that the guys at Custom Vintage Keys in Burbank make that can hold a pedalboard or another keyboard on top of the Rhodes without putting any weight on the plastic covering.
BAUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMM!!!!!!!!
🎉🎉🎉🎉
I know Tim vest.
10 to 12 foot Room height minimum.
60k later: clap, clap (terrible reverb decay sound), “a lil live” “ceiling is so low” nice excuse lol wait what ???!!! That room/s should waaay better 😳
Lol that was with nothing in it though. Sounds reeeeeally good with stuff in it and yeah … nothing to be done about a low ceiling.
Doesn't California have a law against carelessly placing random objects on top of marimba bars?
You must be a high school band director
@@JakeReedmusic Ah, so you've been scalded before. Nice studio though. Quite jealous.
Ha! Thanks! No, haven’t been scalded. I’m more careful with instruments that aren’t mine, but there seems to be a sign on every Kelon barred xylophone in band rooms across America that reads “This is NOT a table.”
Those guys are not very talkative! 😂😂😂
