Well, this is the dream.A Fuzz on the surface with an Overdrive as a foundation. I'm very seriously contemplating selling my overdrive and fuzz pedal to purchase this. Thanks for the video!!!
I shy away from most fuzz pedals because they are so difficult to tame and often just plain flubby. The Nero sounds like a game changer. Thanks for the demo and review, Michael!
Sounds great. Looks classy. They make some of the best looking and sounding pedals on the market.
Sounds great!👍🏾🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Rico!
Nero the emperor of Rome was the devil incarnate, but Nero the fuzz is amazing. I love the look of this pedal and the Antique v3.
and gorgeous looking pedal !!!
Absolutely
Ok yeah that might be the most useable fuzz for any genre I have heard. I always run an always on comp anyway. I like what they did here.
I like that it’s pretty versatile. It’s cool. Definitely not a super character Fuzz, but a Fuzz charactered overdrive? More than an overdrive
Great demo....cool sounding fuzz. Transparent a bit.
Thanks! Yeah, it’s kinda funny to describe a fuzz as transparent but I totally get what you mean. It has that kind of feel to it
I generally don't like fuzz but this one is hot! I just put my demo out on it too... 🔥🎸🤘
Love that it has a sag/comp control. I use compression in front of most fuzzes, so having it in the fuzz pedal itself makes a lot of sense.
Me too!
Hi! Just got my Nero and the Comp knob is not a compressor per se. It is actually a parallel mixer for the fuzz, being it 0% fully parallel (no fuzz stacking on the gladio and the gladio being mixed parallel to the fuzz... lol) and 100% in Series like you would use pedals in a pedalboard. So yeah... not a compression control, but it results in a change in compression of sorts
Lots of good sounds in there.
Absolutely
Just ordered one. Sounds like everything from Robben Ford to Billy Gibbons or harder sound. Cleans up nice. What's not to love. I could even see using this in a church band context by rolling down the volume.
Nero sound very good
Sounds nice. Is that an another clone of op-amp fuzzes ( Bad Cat od-1, Fuzzy drive, Op-amp Muff)?
I’m not sure of the technical specifics but seems pretty unique in its design. I believe I read it does use 1 transistor but @cornerstonemusicgear could comment more specifically.
There's a fuzz section composed of 1 transistor only with two bias controls (the voices) and the gain control, followed by an entire gladio sc built in. Tone, volume and Comp are from this section.
So definitely not an opamp based fuzz nor a clone of any other fuzz 😉
@@cornerstonegear Ok after description it is like some sort of raw fuzz/boost tamed by over. It reminds me behavior of Velvet Fuzz but with more agression in tone.
Nice nod to Colleen Fazio with that shirt!
You know it!
Hey Michael! Just FYI, your link to the pedal is not hyperlinked…
Thanks! Fixed it
First fuzz that doesn’t sound like farts! Impressive!
❤
Sounds to me like a hot overdrive more than a fuzz pedal.
It does both for sure. I think I highlighted the lower gain tons for because that’s what I use the most but it gets fuzzy for sure
So, a good fuzz is pretty much a distortion pedal.
The boundary between fuzz and distortion isn't actually well-defined; it's more of a grey area where transitioning from one to the other is a gradual process... The key is to find a good combination of nuances, perhaps a bit of one and a bit of the other.
For me I like pedals that blur the line for sure! Or, at least can do some of both
A Rat straddles the distortion-fuzz boundary too, but more on the former. It cool to have versatility in a pedal.
I think this is a very nice sounding pedal, but I'm not sure it's a great fuzz. The fuzz characteristic itself is kinda neutral. That being said I can see a uses for this pedal, if you this of it more as an overdrive or distortion, several of which you showed in the video. The lap steel sounded really awesome.
Yea I mean, it's not designed to be a "classic" fuzzy tone. There are already a lot of pedals doing that classic fuzz job. This one is different and designed for people who have always loved fuzz tones, but never really get along with them...
Greer amps hat nod!
