B52's are true originals. Love a lot of their stuff.
52 Girls and Dance This Mess Around from their first album are my favorites. And their cover of Downtown on that same album is so under-appreciated.
“Gimme Back My Man” is another banger by them.
cindy was looking good in that one
The B-52's best of collection, Time Capsule, is one of the best compilations ever.
Shawn & Mel, you'll love their "Love Shack", "Roam" and "Planet Claire"!!! They were one of the best in the 'new wave' genre!
The B-52's dropped "Private Idaho" in 1980. It was a party favorite throughout the early eighties when I was in high school. The song also lent its name to Gus Van Sant's 1991 film "My Own Private Idaho", starring Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix in a tale about homeless teens in Portland, Oregon.
Did they come up with the phrase, or was it around before? Non-English speaker here.
B-52's are all about having a good time. I enjoyed them so much in my teens.
Hands down my favorite B52s song! I recommend Rock Lobster next. There’s a whole dance that goes to it.
They did Rock Lobster on July 25. czcams.com/video/wRiWDqJBTeE/video.html
It was the first B-52's song they did. Private Idaho is their second.
You're soooo right! 100% themselves, pretty damn original, great fun live! What's NOT to love??!!!
Next B-52 song should be "Planet Claire".
Yes, and the official music video is classic.
Thanks for that one guys I loved it, really brought back happy memories. The B52's were really popular when I was in high school. My friends and I knew the words to every song they played on the radio. I can remember all the fun times driving home after a long day at the beach in the summer singing this song with my friends and doing all the sound effects. Especially with Rock Lobster, "down, down down...." :) I really enjoyed New Wave music and its sure fun seeing the B52's perform again, so young and energetic.
Such a FUN group. 'Butterbean' is one of my favorite songs from them. Going to see them on their farewell tour in Boston on 9/30!!!
Aww, I'm jealous. Have fun!!
Just saw them in Seattle last night (August 22nd)! Don't go to the gym that night because you'll be dancing all night. And be SURE to catch DJ Cumberbund! He's fantastic!
@@kevinshockley6949 Nice to hear. Yeah, I don't plan on sitting for much of the show. Glad you had a great time. And thanks for the heads up.
their music is what I listen to when I want to dance and drop all seriousness in my world
I humbly recommend my top 3 of theirs: Roam, Topaz, and Deadbeat Club. Kate and Cindy's harmonies will forever be one of my favorite sounds.
My five year old thought Deadbeat Club was Debbie Club, and that is was about me and all the other Debbies. 😂
Topaz is very sweet
Nice, this is from their 1980 album 'Wild Planet' - please react to 'Give Me Back My Man' from the same album, you will enjoy it!
one of the most under-rated pop bands. no idea why its not reacted to more...look at that hair!
Welcome to a world that doesn't take itself too seriously... yet ROCK IT OUT.
I think their first album was released in 1979. You may also like songs from their 1982 EP 'Mesopotamia.' Favorite tracks include "Cake," and "Nip It in the Bud,"
The 1982 EP is a Great album! "Mesoptamia" and "Throw that beat in the garbage can" are also great tracks!
they are amazing and a big part of my youth. huge animal rights and lgbtq advocates (obviously), like 30 years ago. just put their first two albums on a shuffle playlist while you do the housework, you wont regret it.
B-52s formed in 1977 in Athens, Georgia. Private Idaho came out in 1980 on their Wild Planet album.
i like " Rock lobster" by b52s
B-52's Songs
Give Me Back My Man, Party Out of Bounds, Strobe Light, Dance This Mess Around, 52 Girls
They just announced their farewell tour! You guys should definitely go see them. In the meantime... listen to "Dance This Mess Around"... "Party Out of Bounds".... and "Legal Tender" (the girls sing lead!)
You named my 3 favorites!
Legal Tender one of my super loves by them!
My faves!!!....seen em live so many times since early 80s....a total dance party!!!!.try Dance This Mess Around, Summer of Love, Planet Claire, Legal Tender, Rock Lobster !!! I believe they came out around 1978...they were part of the sound that evolved into the fun 80s!!!!!
The singer in this one is Fred Schneider. He did a solo album that is pretty heavy rock. The album was called Just Fred.
it's from 1980, Mel. Their "Wild Planet" album. Great stuff. Another epic song from this is Give Me Back My Man highlighting Cindy's vocals.
OMG! The absolutely most wonderful, delightful, amazing band in the world! Been listening to them since the early 80s and got blessed enough to see them live! They are like NO ONE else! You gotta listen to the song "Quiche Lorraine" . It's their best song ever. Covertly, ironically comparing bad, freaky relationships to a dog that leaves his master and runs off with a Great Dane. Busts me up just thinking about it. 🤣🤣🤣
They are one of my favorite bands!! 🥰
The band formed in 1976 in Athens, Georgia. Their first album came out in 1978. Their album "Mesopotamia" was produced by David Byrnes of The Talking Heads. My favorite songs are "Quiche Lorraine", "Mesopotamia", and "Candy" (with Iggy Pop).
New Wave! I'm pogo dancing right now! Try "Never Say Never " by Romeo Void...
The B-52's are such a vibe!! Love Shack, Planet Claire, Rock Lobster..... Just some damn fun!!!
DON'T GO ON THE PATIO!!!
This song was basically a public service warning us of various household hazards:
The dangers of hidden driveways, radium clocks, blue bottomless pools fraught with danger AND strangers, chlorine in your eyes, green lawns and essentially the entire state of Idaho.
Once again, kids, remember:
DON'T GO ON THE PATIO!!!
the b52's and the go-go's were party music for all the kids who didn't listen to metal.
some of us metalheads did listen to them privately, but we didn't tell our friends about it.
Wanna know how many Metal heads I knew from the 80's that secretly loved New Wave Music? Don't even get me started on Boy George & Wham too! 😂🤣😋
@@xoxxobob61 quite true. metal was my go-to for feeling some adrenalin, but i had my abba moments too
and devo and gary numan.
Great new wave party band i still listning to their music today i,m 56👌👌👌✌️✌️✌️
1979 they hit the airwaves and ...YES! We were left stunned by their vibe and sound. It was like ....WTF did I just hear?!?!
I was lucky enough to attend UGA back when these cats and REM were bubbling under the surface of the mainstream and taking over college radio - I’ve seen the B-52’s multiple times from their days at the 40-Watt club to huge venues. They never disappoint.
Gonna see them on wednesday. Been a fan for 40 years....my first seeing them!!! In vegas no less!!!! Great reaction. Love you guys are open to whTever!!!! Subbing!!!
"Planet Claire"
I loved your reaction to a band I know since the 80’s! Be welcome!
One of my favorite bands of all time. My fave song of theirs is ‘Give Me Back My Man’, an old song of theirs.
This was coming out my sophmore year of HS. It was so much fun to dance to these guys and other music like this at the school dances. Fun times. Bring back the 80's!
Another favorite of mine by them is "Strobe Light"!!
Love this song!!! Greetings from Lima, Perú.
They started as a new wave/punk band and morphed into a quirky dance band.
Shawn and Mel I love you all even more for reacting to this band. One of my absolute favorites! Lots a great suggestions in the comments. I would LOVE to see your reaction to strobe light!
The B52s were really about one thing with their music - FUN!
Listen to ‘rock lobster’ by them next. It’s brilliant!!!
They did Rock Lobster on July 25. czcams.com/video/wRiWDqJBTeE/video.html
It was the first B-52's song they did. Private Idaho is their second.
Planet Claire and Give Me Back My Man are a must! B52’s were all about having a good time
Glad you enjoyed the B-52's! I do wish you had at least looked up the release date so you could understand what was popular and how different this group was!
'Party out of bounds' next please 😍
The first time I saw this video (or even heard the song) was also the first time I smoked pot. The song and the video were so outrageous and weird that I actually thought the pot had been laced with Angel Dust and I was hallucinating. When I saw it the second time I wasn’t high, and the video and song were still totally insane.
I'm doin' the pony in my living room to this song. LOVE this.
Hi Shawn & Mel 🎼 I met Kate and Cindy in 1978 and was talking to them on stage and thought all of them were so cool
Love this song so good!!;
Played at our wedding in 1990, everyone under 30 was on the dance floor!
They called what they did kitsch and it's a perfect description!
If you want the B-52’s vocal sound effects… Try “Rock Lobster”
They did Rock Lobster on July 25. czcams.com/video/wRiWDqJBTeE/video.html
It was the first B-52's song they did. Private Idaho is their second.
I can watch Cindy Wilson dance all day
I know it’s 40 odd years old but I still fancy Kate Pierson SO much… plus we are the same age so it’s not creepy 😄
You guys get them! Spot on
Good to hear you like different they have a lot good song other groups like blue cheer summer time blues and mc5 kick up the jams
I grew up listening to the B52s I feel lucky
This was the SONG at all my college parties!!!
They WERE the New Wave, Dance-party band of the 80s!! The most successful band out of Athens, Georgia with the exception of R.E.M. ... WHY this band is not in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame is a mystery to me!!! My favorite song from them is 'Devil In My Car' about a demon possessed Chevy!!!
"Strobe Light" by the B52s please
I saw them around 1980 at the Hollywood Palladium.
Love that song!!
Yass! This is great.
They know how to party because they are from one of the top party colleges the University of Georgia, GO DAWGS 2021 National Champs - PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNESS ✌💖☮
Hunker down!
@@zatoichi1 WOOF
Quiche Lorraine is a must yall. Fun 🤩🔥🎼
Awesome. Do another! Like "Give Me Back My Man".
That surf rock/50's sci-fi horror vibe was cool...
New Wave Punk that turned Pop. Interesting band. Have their 1st 2 albums OG vinyl.
Dance this mess around has to be next for you guys - you will love it! Peace!
Georgia creates great musicians.
I knew that you would listen to something other than Rock lobster or Love shack. You have a great taste and I love your reactions
Give Back My Man is one of my favorites. So many great songs, it was fun to be alive back then. 😁❤️
Y'all have to do Roam. That is the best song they ever did
It’s fun seeing the B52s in their early days
Best party band ever!
Next up should be The B-52s the classic banger, "Rock Lobster"
Luv y'all
You guys are the best
They were the primer party band out of Athens. Ga...
you 2 are Great
Love it!
The only punk rock band I like. Their music is fun listening to 🎵🎶
Check out Deadbeat Club. Great harmonies. A bit more sophisticated but still the B’s!
Super fun
Fred also has a solo song called Monster In My Pants 🔥🤣🔥
"Devo and The B-52s were the bombs 40 years ago."
Someone has probably already mentioned the big bouffant hairstyles of the era were referred to as B52’s
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Check out the music video B52's "Debbie".
RIP Ricky Wilson
I always that the girls Kate and Cindy always wore 60's clothes with 60's hairdo's
"Love Shack" Do it!
They were New Wave before New Wave.
You definitely have to do Quiche Lorraine 😂
pls do b 52's roam song ,it's a great song
