- In the first episode of the Gospel in Life series "Discovering the Gospel in Every Book of the Bible", Tim Keller looks at the book of Genesis.
Each episode from this series will highlight themes that point to the Gospel and help you discover the overarching narrative of God’s Word in every book - Christ coming into the world to save us from our sins and reconcile us to God the Father.
I was saved-out from a 7-generation legacy of Mormonism-while listening to a Gospel in Life podcast on Jan. 7, 2020. God placed truth in my way through the relational seed planting of friends (some of whom were part of Redeemer, San Diego:)) during the last decade of my 40+ year journey in a deep wilderness of religion. The Gospel changed everything for my family that day. Thank you Lord for your durable Kingdom on earth and your durable and powerful word preached so clearly and shared in love by so many of your children❤.
God bless you brother thank you for sharing
Praise God for rescuing you!! Would you mind sharing at what point in the Jan. 7, 2020 podcast the Holy Spirit opened your eyes to the Gospel or what was the truth that broke through to your heart? Your testimony is very encouraging, including the relational seed planting of friends that helped prepare your heart.
Beautiful example of the powerful hand of God. Thank you for sharing!
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing.
Wow. So glad you found your Way!!
People talk most about what they love the most. You always talk about Jesus. Yes, sir! Like Jacob, it is Jesus we have been looking for all our lives.
"You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me," (quoting Jesus) John 5:39. I'm a teacher and curriculum writer, and I am so helped in my walk with Jesus and in what and how I teach by Tim's ability to point us to Jesus--and it NEVER gets old. Yes, God bless Tim and Kathy and all who work behind the scenes to get these solid messages out to the world.
If not for Tim Keller's podcasts, I'd be starving right now. Thank you for this word.
+1
i'm SOOOOO with you on this one.
Is there here a podcast for this as well?!
@@luismcrea6605 There is a podcast for Tim Keller on Spotify or whatever platform you use. It's called Gospel in Life.
I have seen many ministers speaking on video podcasts over the years, however I think Tim Keller is very much a favourite of mine as I have seen him as a man of great compassion and always spoke so well. He may very well have gone to spend eternity with our Lord now, but he has left so much for Earth's people to implement in their daily lives.
I’m currently doing a Covenant college course at 68 yrs. Every teacher is blowing my mind.
But I’ve followed Tim for years and this insight into Genesis is truly enlightening.
Thank you for who you are Tim a wonderful person and man if God.
With the new meaning of blessing in my lips. Many blessings Tim 🙏❤️
I needed to hear this so much. We as humans are always seeking blessing and deep fulfillment in worldly things. When all we need is Jesus.
And this first Sabbath in heaven he receives that full blessing! Well done good and faithful servant, thank you for your example of Christ in action.
Just wonderful!!!! Sally Lloyd Jones wrote the most wonderful children’s book: Every story whispers His Name. Jesus is the center of the whole Bible and the center of the universe!
I would pay for a book on this series written by him!
Seeing Jesus here in Genesis makes me love Him even more. Thank you!
Thank you father God to love me first and save me, such a sinner like me...I probably still don't realize how much a big sinner I am but Jesus covered my sin. Thank you pastor Tim Keller. I thank God I got to listen to your message years ago and it changed my life. It is a privilege to me to listen to your message. I will continue to pray for your health,, your family, and your ministry!
Wow! The more I learned about the Gospel ,more I know that there's nothing like that on the world, I feel like we never get all of Jesus, he's infinite 👏👏👏
I keep Gospel in life on my heart and prayers, these sermons helped me so much and took me back when I was far way from God
Always blessed by Tim Keller, one of the great teachers of our time. So grateful for his vitality and praying for his continued health.

One of the things I admire about Dr. Keller (beyond his incredible ability to teach the word of God) is his humility.
Beautifully said

Amen!
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you shall bruise His heel. (Genesis 3:15)

Poderoso el evangelio en Génesis, solo en el rostro de Jesús encontraremos la bendición y realización final como lo decía el pastor Tim.
Thanks so much for making these videos!
Great stuff. Getting the blessing we're looking for!
Amen❤thank you for this Tim
Thank you very much for making this new series freely available. What a great blessing!
Indeed, Jesus is the promise, the blessing we’ve been looking for from the beginning, from the book of Genesis. I am looking forward to see Jesus in every book of Bible🤗
I appreciate the point that we are always looking for a blessing. Can we , as Christians bless people in Jesus name?
In Christ- do we have this authority?
Looking forward to the rest of this series
Great and relevant, as always . Thanks Tim, stay blessed!
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Pastor Tim. Praying for you.
Thank you, dear Lord, for your Word!
So good! Thank you Tim, God bless you and Kathy 🕊
Thank you for this, Pastor Keller. Very timely as I do reading in Genesis. Please do this on every book of the Bible too.
Thank you.
Thank you for these. Will any study guides or outlines be made available to expand on these remarks?
Thank you Pastor for a message that blesses us.
I thank God for blessing Tim Keller with such insightful teaching, and look forward to seeing Jesus in every book of the bible. My prayer is that God will continue to bless your ministry and your health.
I know this is a new series, but I am wondering if you will create a study guide so that groups can use this series? Please do!
Yes I’m wondering what questions I could ask a Bible study group after watching this…
Thank you for this series! I feel BLESSED by your exposition. Can I volunteer to translate the script into Spanish? Spanish is my first language, and I am a teacher of English as a second language.
❤
First to comment?? Looking forward to this series! :D
Amen and Amen.
Is it possible to get this in podcast form on Spotify?
Tim Keller is best known for showing us Jesus.
In this video he did it again by showing us that every main character of Genesis points to Jesus.
These 3 ideas will change the way you read Genesis.
Here’s a breakdown of each one: 👇
---
#1: Abraham
Abraham leaves his comfort zone, goes to the wilderness where he was always a pilgrim without a settled home, so that God could turn his family into a source of blessing for all.
But Jesus is the true Abraham, who in order to save us, "went out, not knowing where he was going." (Genesis 12:4, Hebrews 11:8)
---
#2: Isaac
Isaac is offered up, so that God could say to Abraham "Now I know that you love me because you did not withhold your son, your only son, whom you love from me." (Genesis 22:12)
Jesus is the true Isaac, who was not just offered up, but actually lost his life, so that...we can say to God, about the true Isaac, looking at the cross, "Now WE know that you love us, because you did not withhold your only son from us."
---
#3: Joseph
Jesus is the true Joseph, because even though he was rejected, he rose up, so he could forgive his brethren and save them.
---
The POINT:
The blessing of God is lost in the beginning of Genesis, and throughout the book, people try to get that blessing back. But the blessing we so desperately look for in work, having spouses, lots of children, making money, can only be found in the face of Jesus.

…now we know… thx Tim.
thank you father, thank you Jesus, thank you Holy Spirit. ❤
I'm wondering if there is a study guide for these videos?
Hello Dr.Keller, would you be able to explain what do you mean by "...who in order to save us went out not knowing whether he went" at 8:35 please? This video has been very helpful to my wife and I in understanding where and how the gospel is being revealed in the book of Genesis. Look forward to watching rest of the 65 videos to find out more about where and how the gospel is being depicted in each book of the Bible. Thank you.
👊🙏✝️♥️
Does anyone know when the talk on Exodus will be posted?
We should have it posted later this week, likely Thursday. Our goal is to post new episodes every other Thursday.
@@gospelinlife Thank you. This is an awesome series!
Get me
What about God showing grace by clothing Adam and Eve - instead of killing them? What about the continual promise of a Messiah from Genesis 3:15? What about the promised Messiah in Genesis 22:7-8,13? What about Joseph / Jesus?
So, you didn't like it, or what?
Слава Иисусу Христу!
TIim, it is significant what you omit from your message, no righteous Able who is slan for his faith in the slain lambs, that He received by seeing his father and mothers sacrificial clothing supplied by God in His sovereign Grace, after they disobeyed God and forfeited the right to the tree of Life, provided for them in His sovereign Grace, and how amazing that Able saw this in His parents sacrifical skins, but Cain either did not see, or did not want to see, and the same is true of most of Christendom today, they see the guilt of Adam and Eve , but do not see God's sovereign Grace , and teach that their whole family have inherited their guilt, but not God's sovereign Grace , and because we know that says that Cain was wicked and of the wicked One, and Able was righteous and of God, meaning Cain was a child of the Devil and Able was a child of God, and therefore Adam's family were not all evil, and the third Son of Adam and Eve , Seth, began to call on the name of the Lord, so what we know of Adam's direct descendants, two out of three of his boys were believers .w all all know that this changes in the days of Noah, and only two men are said to walk with God, but even so all men were not classified as wicked
thanks, interesting - but we part at min 8 . Jacob is a Hebrew name, (in Hebrew arithmetic - gimatria = 182) he wrestled with Malac = 91 (angel). it means that Jacob struggled with-himself (malac 91 + malac 91 = Jacob 182) malac 91 ha - Elomim 91 = Jacob 182. so, as you see it's all in His mind, in his thought, in a dream. nothing to do with Jesus being Jacob (or any other person) it's between you and your conscience. Jacob certainly had to justify stealing the blessing he got by cheating Eisav being pushed by his mother. so, the Hebrew bible is written in Hebrew - surely you'll agree that the original book doesn't need translation or salvation in a different language, certainly not by someone (born 2500 years after Jacob) who never even spoke Hebrew or wrote. simple logic. the original Bible was written directly by first encounter- contact with the divine ... you can't "improve or change or add to it" not by "modern" mediators, certainty not by 4 people who again never wrote or read Hebrew. NT is hearsay after hearsay decades after ... it doesn't convey the main paradigm - if you wish to understand divinity you can extract the knowledge from the book, not through a person. no one saves you but yourself. no one forgives you but yourself - money won't buy you love, and Christians who wish to connect with their god face a line of "appointed people" standing before them a costume show from your local priest to the pope and maybe then ... conditions control promises
