Btw just to explain the title for people who dont make it to around 3:00 in the video - this feature is not implemented the same as its java counter part. Java does not have a way to permanently display your days played seperate to the rest of the debug screen. The debug screen is also not an intended "feature" like it is on bedrock!
Java also doesn't have that yummy autosave icon
Mine always has kept track of hours played (mcpe) almost 2000 hours
F3 isn't intended?
@@minecraftexpertstudios7368 It was intended for dev use mostly, but early on they decided to give it to the players too. That way they can also help find bugs. but players started relying on f3 too much, and now Jeb somewhat regrets giving it to the public. but they can't remove it now otherwise the community will be outraged.
Funny that this was also more-or-less the last comment I made on another video, but it blows my mind that most people don't even watch most youtube videos halfway through.
I don't have bedrock to test, but the precise limit is probably ≤ 89478, that is floor(2^31 / 24000). Seems like the day count is derived from the world time in ticks, which is presumably a signed 32-bit int. Not sure how the subtraction worked properly then, though. Maybe it just wraps into the negatives instead of clamping, though that would probably make the day counter reset to 0 after another 89478 days. Or the time is actually 64-bit, but they decided to do the day calculation in 32 bits for some (bad) reason.
if I had a nickel for every time something on bedrock broke because of using 32bit ints rather than 64bit ints I would have two nickels
That is 100% correct, it does loop into the negatives after that day but it just displays ‘too many days’ rather than a negative day
I have just been showing my son this as a programmer was intrigued why.. If you enter 2,147,483,600 (47 less than max of signed int32 you get to see it flick from 89478 days to too many to count!! to 0 and the sun does several sunsets.
The craziest thing is you having more hours on the online tracker than all of your Xbox friends... in EVERY EDITION that you play regularly... WITHOUT using afk farms. Insanity.
He is wise. Bow before him.
Hacker1MC will never understand, ibx is all knowing compared to all of us
The “armored paws drop” reminds me of the “cats and pandas” update that came out before 1.14.
Forgot about that honestly. I do remember spawning the pandas in the ancient Chinese world, back on legacy edition though.
Heh.
cat's & pandas is bedrock 1.8, right?
Oh no... not more hard-core 5000 days survived movies
They go on Java.most of them already are on there
@@Tridentofmemes yh but hard-core is coming to bedrock is 1.21 so new avenue
Expect this time it's bedrock edition (where keep in mind the hostiles are actually stronger than the ones on java edition however the loot chances on bedrock edition is much nicer than java edition)
if you dont like them dont watch them
i thought java already had a day tracker in the f3 menu
edit: i typed this before i got to 3:05
It does
yeah but this is a bit different
Yeah but you can only see it on the F3 menu this one is an actual feature
It’s in the stats menu too
hello
edit: how did i edit this without editing it 💀😂
Most of my old worlds have been corrupted, I had backups but my ps4 basically corrupted everything
Java is better
Been there.
Sorry for your loss, your dogs will be remembered 😢
@@Domtronicin almost all ways yes, but bedrock has a few good things that hasn’t released to Java
@@Joey8809 mods
i have been playing bedrock for so long and i have wanted a day tracker for literally 4 years.
Same I been jealous that they can have a tracker! 😂
Same
I feel like everyone who plays bedrock has complained about this and mojang was finally like *"oh wait, you guys actually want that?"* 🤤
Foxynotail has a bunch of mods and one is a tracker using an armor stand that doesn’t turn off achievements.
@@aaronbrown22 a lot of ppl don't like mods and/Or want to play normal vanilla minecraft (and ngl it should if been added years and years and years ago imo) like in 2011 (or if not that early then when they made MCPE MC Bedrock)
I can’t wait to look at the day tracker. I see how many hrs I played on PC, iOS and Xbox but that doesn’t say how much time I spent in my main survival world, just the game in general, so this is really cool!
I wouldn't mind if they just called it the Trial Chambers update with that being like 99% of the update anyway
Trials&Crafts
Hooray! Day tracker incoming!
Only thing I dislike about it is that it says days played which isn't correct.
It should say "Day: 4398" because that is the day and not actual played time as you showed it.
"Days played: ..." is just too long IMHO.
I agree, should submit this on minecraft site.
I love this so much. I tried to get an add on for this but it would disabled achievements, which I refuse to do
I’d say this is more-so parity since Java has the same thing, just not so visible.
Java also has an always-visible-on-screen version of this feature. It's called a mod.
Specifically, Xaero's Minimap, which along with Xaero's World Map I consider to be THE most essential Minecraft mod existing. It also displays your coods, the time of day, and the biome you're in. I NEVER EVER play MC without it (except for my Poisonous Potato SSP world b/c modders don't make updates for April Fools editions).
@@darthgorbagmods dont count for features
@@darthgorbag mods don't count as features
I’m digging the day counter and the fact that you can have it on screen when you want it. I think that Mojang needs to implement more information that Java players have access to via the F3 screen in the same manner. Put a slider on the menu screen so that we can see the Biome, Light Level, Entity Count at a minimum. I think that if Mojang is unwilling to give Bedrock players the F3 Debug screen, then at least give us this.
Also, it would be really great if Mojang implemented full statistics on Bedrock like they have on Java. The In-Game Days counter shows that the game is counting things in the background, so why not share this information with the players??
It's made to play on controller
Yes, exactly. Like for some achievements it says be in a certain biome, but how do i know if im actually in that biome, we dont!
According to the dev guide Toycat reviewed recently, one of the design principles of Minecraft is not having HUD display. Bedrock continues to go against those principles by showing coordinates and now also a day counter, information that Jeb believes should not be aviable to the player. So, i really doubt Java will ever get any on-screen information because this is not how they intend the game to be.
As a Java player, i always use F3, but I'd be happy if the display were less cluttered. I think the bedrock version is thoughtful.
@@kacperwoch4368 If Jeb had it his way, Java players would lose the F3 Debug screen altogether... I think his view on this is just plain wrong. Minecraft is a game and the player needs specific information in order to be able to play it. Withholding that information from Bedrock players while making it available with a keypress on Java is plain unfair.
well, not me literally keeping the game open for ~160 hours a week at afk farms to get resources... I'm guessing my day count is most likely "too high"
This is going to be very useful for doing survival series (especially hardcore mode survival series) I'm definitely going to have fun with it (saves me writing it down in a book and quill)
bedrock may be buggy but atleast we can have days played be constantly showing
Congrats for finishing the video given the challenges mentioned. (Working on my robot speak I guess)
You were (likely) right about the binary thing being 2.1 billion. If you divide the signed 32-bit max number by 24,000, you get 89478 as the max amount of days.
Thanks for the video, and the long analysis on what the news means rather than just what was announced. Just where would the Bedrock community be without you!
Isn't it weird that the tick counter isn't unsigned, too?
@@RCassinelloyou can add negative amounts of time (as shown in the video), so I can see why they made it that way
This is perfect I was starting a hardcore world and had to edit a sign every day lol
I would genuinely enjoy having the option to use a map and clock to display the coordinates and time. It would give them more optional use and could even be displayed eg item frames
the day counter seems to stop at the 32 bit intiger limit in ticks
Now this is something i have been curious about. I reckon since i have close to 4k hours on minecraft on the ps4. Most of those spend in my main survival world. Granted i only ported it to bedrock and started playing it on that version of the game since the nether update.. so i reckon a good 2 or 3 k days have not tracked
Minecraft tracks how long you played total, shows in the bottom right corner when your in the Playstation menu on minecraft. I got 8601 hours played.
I like the day tracker but one thing i want from console and java edition is stats of blocks mined distance traveled player deaths
Minecraft
Frantics&mechanics
i have a question about the day counter
i have been in the same world for a long time and i moved it to pc from my ps4 and does the day counter still add those days from my ps4?
yes
I heard an good name for the update in a stream someone mentioned Chambers and Dangers Update or something?
I was gonna make a redstone day tracker and thought I'd web search it first.
Glad I did, but now I have nothing to build
Yo the Minecraft Music playing in the background actually slapped!
@toycat 1:14 I think it might, since even though it doesn’t seem like it takes any information and uses it on the console edition of Minecraft, I think it still will work. On bedrock edition, you can do /time query day for the amount of days that are played on your world, but you can also do /time query daytime to get the amount of ticks that have played (It doesn’t mean the total amount of time you’ve played on the world. If you want to see that information, you’ll need to do /time query gametime for the total amount of time you’ve played), but I’m not sure if the console edition would have saved ticks or not, since that’s what it’s based off of. Anyways, I’ll continue to watching the rest of the video :D
I have now realized that @ doesn’t do anything ;-; (I though I saw it somewhere l, but it’s fine :D)
I have had this because of a texture pack. It’s great.
yay we have an accurate day counter built in
3:55 Oh hey
That would actually make clocks useful
The day counter is based of the number of ticks that have happened in your world so it records all your playtime ever however if console edition doesn’t covert ticks over then it won’t count your console days only. even if you started the world in alpha pocket edition it would count those days
sick 😂 i just passed day 2400 in my ssp
What would your world seed look like if you started today
Probably a hot take but I absolutely loved the idea to have coordinates display on the map. I always carried a map in my inventory because of it. It felt like that was how it was supposed to be. Being able to see the coordinates on screen at all times always felt cheat-y for me. I mean it doesn't matter if you diedor where you died because you can easily go back with the help of coordinates. (If you noticed them before you died and if you didn't die in the void that is)
Anyway, I would totally be on board if they put coordintes back on maps. They could also create a new redstone item and put the coordinates on that. I think it would make more sense and I also really like your idea of having the day tracker on the clock or on a different type of clock.
If Mojang did this they wouldn't have to clutter up the screen with information and certain items would be more useful (map, clock if they don't create new items)
It'd be really cool if they called it the Trials and Tribulations update
for java players saying they have the same thing: toycat mentioned that f3 is a mess
The number of ticks exceeded the highest possible integer value: 2,147,483,647 Integers are whole numbers stored by the computer. If you divide that number by the number of ticks in each day you get this number: 89,478.4852917 in other words by the time it changes to day 89479, it can't keep track of the game time anymore and gives you that message. Long story short, your guess was right, it's because it measures it in ticks.
In days gone the “days gone” since u lost ur wife was a part of the background picture on the ‘pause’ screen. It was where u went to do all the background work like leveling and checking achievements, etc., Kind of transparent but still clearly visible. Something like that would pull it from the hud but make it accessible. I like the clock idea too.
I swear I've been keeping track of the update videos but this is the first I'm hearing of a potion of weaving, wth
5:07 My favorite song
Infinite Amethyst
I never count the days in Minecraft, it takes me at least 100 ingame days to build a simple sugarcane farm. I don't need to be the biggest, the fastest and the best, I just want to play a nice game. Probably I'm the slowest player in the community 😂
0:02 this cracked me up
Where can I find the day counter? Is it preview-only? I'm trying to find it for my not-preview Realms worlds.
My world glitched from doing a lot of glitches in it so my day counter reset I checked by copying the world went in creative and checked how much days and it was like 30 but the last time I checked it wasn't 2100 something
We have that now?!
Yay.
Also, there's a pattern with the Minecraft update names....
Does this work on switch if so how can u get it to be on?
Toycats world has passed a little under 13.5 years. I wonder how many resources hes mined and how hollow his world is underground
I'm gonna guess around 350 days in the past year, excited to see how close or far I'll be!
Now it's easier to do 100 days Minecraft challenges
Hey toycat ! Recently I’ve noticed villages no longer spawn in old world types, wondering do you know why? Are you aware of this? Just wanted to let you knoe
Doesn't the statistics screen display days played? in IRL days, not in game days
The reason that it’s limited to just over 85000 days looks like a 32 bit integer max error.
32 bit integers can only go up to 2,147,483,647 so there’s 25,000 seconds in 1 Minecraft day, and 25000 x 85000 = 2,040,000,000 which is just below that limit but if you add another 10,000 days it goes over the limit.
I feel like it would’ve been better if they had added the ability to craft a calendar in game
Do days go up if your in the end or nether?
Minecraft: Wingdings
Also, i cant tell if you play 23 hours a day, or 1 hour a day.
Can you do this on a remade world
I think 8947.84853125 days is the maximum. Unsigned Int Max Value / 20 (ticks) / 24000 (ticks per day) is that number. It’s probably high enough to not be a problem but changing it to even a signed long would be plenty (would be able to store a little over 19,000,000,000,000 days if my math is right)
multiply that number by 10
Cool video can’t wait to try this out😮
Ok, did anyone notice the Enderman spawn? It grew out of the ground. It didn't just appear like I remember seeing... Or am I crazy? Is at 3:04.
If what you said is true, then that means my hope of the update being called Trials & Vials can't be possible. Maybe they'll just name it the Trials Update and call it a day.
Couldn't you use /time query day?
operator needed for that
Technically... But wouldn't it just be easier to see it 24/7?
nah deadass thats what I've been doing for my word for like a year now, I js make a copy and activate op commands
The sequel to the coordinates viewer
This is so awesome your videos are always amazing and entertaining toycat
I dont like day tracker cuz then i know how many days i wasted without building anyting cool
1.21 gigawatts!
The maximum days is 89,478 because 2.14 billion is the last tick before it quits
I don't see why Console worlds wont have their time included. Console Edition would still need to keep a tick counter for things to work correctly. Time of day as well as sun, moon and cloud positions are all controlled by the tick counter. It would be odd if it wasn't imported
About time I think I’m 1000 in on the hardcore preview
Update. I turned it on and I was only day 107. Just got the mace with density 4 but haven’t played in a week besides today on the preview
why dont they just add a more optimized / simpler "f3" screen to bedrock
I know right
Jeb regrets the f3 menu, if he doesnt want it for java, why would he add it to bedrock
@@pizzahutjr7925Why does he regret it?
Because the lead developer dislikes it and the only reason it wasn't removed from java is because of its legacy
Mobile
I just noticed, Toycat's skin is different between Java and Bedrock
if you play from low Earth orbit, you can get more game time per day vs. people on Earth due to Time Dilation 😂
It is not exactly an exclusive.
Java Edition has that feature too. There you just press F3 and look at the days passed in the world.
Well, just multiplying 24,000 ticks by 85,000 days gives the answer - It's 2.1 billion. So the day counter is literally just something which divides ticks by 24,000.
I’m very interested in this.
A yes, a fragment of the F3 screen again
The chamberpot update
I think the 1.21 update new name is The Armored Paws Update
YES PLEASE
Now I need to delete stuff to update Minecraft 😢
I prefer Java's F3 menu as it doesn't show all the time
F3 menu has a day tracker
Bedrock does have a day tracker but you can only view it via commands unfortunately. You have to do /time i think.
I think probably just above 6000 days?
F3 menu: exists
Playstation already tracked minecraft time played.... I have 8601 hours in minecraft
Yeah. Just about every platform tracks amount of time played. You can just see it in your game easier.
The name will be trials and tials
Java's F3 screen: Am I a joke to you?
Does it work on ps4?
Yes F3
Keep up the good work :)
Can I do this on my nintendo switch minecraft gamecard😮
Yep! Nintendo switch Minecraft runs bedrock edition.
not currently this is Minecraft preview when 1.21 comes then yes
I played 600 hours of video games in 2020 alone
16:31 were playing WORDLE all of a sudden?
Is hardcore on bedrock
0:45 - don't draw attention to it, no one would care otherwise
technically not exclusive bcuz I think java also have stats that tell you the time
you can see the days on java, it shows on f3 menu
Everybody knows this lol. just bedrock doesn't have it until now.
