I turn 39 into 40 , and I do this 40X24=960; next I do 960-24=936. A second way, is to understand that both numbers are products of 3 ( 3X13=39) (3X8=24); now what we do is 13X8=104, and the leftover 3s multiply to equal 9. 104X9=936.

don't worry, it happens especially when you haven't been in school for a while like me. and now that I'm back into it (I'm a senior in high-school and haven't done school work in a couple years due to mental health issues) I have to re-learn things for a basic math course and it's making me remember how much I struggled with this stuff back in the 4th grade. At least I know now it wont be as hard, cause I'm much smarter now and struggle less with math. My dad still can't do math like this either since he had a terrible math teacher that belittled him. we all have a different reason for why we're rusty and its better to get to it eventually than never. cause god knows this stuff is gonna sneak up on you in the future with school and work and you'll need to re-learn!

I'm homeschooling my kids for the first time and I honestly had forgotten how to do this. That's what happens when you have a small computer in your pocket all day long that does the thinking for you. This was super helpful, we worked along with the video on the first problem and then we paused the video to work through the second problem on our own and then checked our work. It was a great refresher for me and a good walk through for my fourth grader. We're going to watch the three digit by two digit multiplication video next.

Wow im 35 n neeeeevr learned how 2 do this. I could never remember what stepr are nex and even worse wit division and that remainder thingy. I didnt know i had adhd, because i also had chronic fatigue. So no1 could tell. I was always exhausted with small bouts of energy. Tired but in my head i was going a million Mph. I even got my ged. And i did it through addition. I dont know times tables division etc. I just taught myself instead of multiplying 8×80=640, id cut things in half like split 80 to 40 to 20 and add 20 20 20 20 =80 then 80+80=160. Then 160+160=320 then 320+320=640 i know it may be long way but i passed my ged on the 1st try in great timing. So it helped me when no1 else would. But now i must help my kids.my daughter has bad adhd and shes dyslexic, among other issues. So im going scrazy trying teach but first learn ,understand, and memorize. So i really really appreciate channels like this. Im definitely subscribing. Plus i have barely enough to keep my electricity on lead alone afford a tutor.

I'm a teacher's aide and I'm getting my TA cert soon and this is on the practice test. I completely forgot how to do it since calculators are always relied on. Even the kids use calculators all the time. I never have to do this as a teacher's aide at a middle school. Hopefully when I transfer to the elementary school next year, I'll see it being taught. You won't always have a calculator and the TA tests seems to think this is important too.

Basically. For the ones that are new to times. Let’s do and easy one. 4x4 it obviously is 16. How? To the people that are new probably think it’s asking 4+4. But it’s not. First you need to do is 4+4 that is 8 now 8+4 that’s 12. Now 12+4 that’s 16. That’s how you find the answer. For 4x4 it’s 16. Hope this helped
