You are a great Communicator Scott! Love your empathy and raw authentic energy!
Thank you :)
Interesting discussion, with a lot of nuance.
In regard to the dichotomy of ascending descending metaphors. It seems to me a different metaphor might close the gap. I believe my lived experience is undifferentiated from my environment. I find if I seek an internal point of calm or authentic self, it is in direct conflict with being in the moment - it’s internalizing change in absence of the mitigator.
If I were to use a metaphor, I would compare it to the ocean. The ocean represents the vast idiosyncratic nature of truth in our environment. And like a boat on the ocean, we rise and fall on waves of experience. I feel it’s our openness to the vagarious nature of truth that keeps us buoyant, allowing us to navigate our sense of self in an ocean of change.
I also believe active listening requires open eyes. We communicate so much about ourselves through our actions and micro expressions (which are often out of sync with carefully formulated statements) - to close ones eyes is to internalize the speaker’s words.
This post brought to you by procrastination - back to the task at hand. :-)
1:03:31 yup true means integrity. Which then blossoms into the other things like confidence
I disagree that people want to be held accountable for the wrongs they've committed. Certainly NOT my experience with "family" members.
Loved your conversation tho! ❤
haha.. "who would break up w/ those eyes" indeed.. but in all seriousness, always love your podcasts! Thx and keep up the "good work"!
A friend who wasn’t aware of the marriage? Hmmnnn.
