    Another awesome video from you? Yeah I'm not surprised. Watching this in the morning gives me enough doses of encouragement to take my trials bike and go practice. You're the only YT channel I have the notifications on for. I've never been inspired by someone this well. I've been so inspired by you that I bought an inspired bike lol. I can't even believe it myself but after so many years of just dreaming about what it'd feel like to do trials on a bike. My dream of being able to do those things is not just dream anymore. Gonna wear my Super Rider hat proudly. and I have a proposal, can you please travel to the states/cities with the most subscribers and do a one or two days training classes for us? I'll pay whatever it costs to learn from you in person.

I had a fun time getting out of the warehouse to ride, and it would be even more fun to travel around and meet everyone in person! Definitely a great idea for the future - let me know where you're based and I'll do my best to make it happen when the time comes!

  • @Teracis
    @Teracis Před rokem +1

    The call out!
    The only thing that becomes an issue for the torque wrench is reverse threads or having the wrench set incorrectly. Always double check before you tighten!!!
    Lots of parts have the markings on them, else consult the manual or online.
    As for reverse threads my small wrench (5-25nm) appears to work fine in reverse from some quick testing, the digital one I have definitely does but the range is too high (40-200nm) for most things though it does show the numbers below minimum so I should double check for accuracy then use that in reverse like I used to! The larger mechanical one I have (13-150nm) only works to tighten standard direction threads so is useless for reverse threads on pedals and some axles. I had a loose pedal on pre-ride inspection today after having used the small wrench on 25nm even though the only spec for Truvativ Descendant cranks I can find online says 31.2nm, no damage to any threads so it must have happened right at the end of the last ride, it wasn't even a quarter turn out, just unlocked. I'll have to compare to the digital one properly below it's range, or buy another one with the correct range, then set them to the right spec!
    That said, tight enough and checking things regularly is generally good enough, but if you tighten to spec you can pretty much be sure it's right the first time, you also get consistency and importantly, protection from stripping threads etc. I have a 1.5 to 8nm wrench too which is perfect for doing up the brake lever clamps to 4nm like the manual says so they move when they get hit but don't slide too easily, I know for sure I'm not going to strip them out either!

    The bike looks amazing I didn't even know it was chinese. I started recently trials but with slow progress as I am over 30 already. Using an old Monty. I will order the Extention pedals: super cheap and they seem really good (not like other chinese pedals on amazon that have the axle higher than the pins...no grip at all). With this white carbon and smooth lines reminds me of that Canyon prototype Fabio Wibmer is riding lately.

    I have a topeak nano DX torque tool that fits in a pocket. Has a few of the common bike sizes with 4,5,6 Nm adapters. Might be a good addition to your standard riding kit especially for carbon bars. Nice review on the bike. Do you think there is a such thing as too stiff?

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV Před rokem

      I'll check that one out - thanks so much for this! Great question, too...not sure if it's possible for the frame to be too stiff (my opinion - open to input!), especially since we want the maximum amount of energy transfer through the bike. I feel like if I ever got to the point where I noticed it was too stiff, I'd probably just drop some air out of the tires to soften things up.

    • @dansacco1964
      @dansacco1964 Před rokem +1

      @@SuperRiderTV Makes sense. I know in the hardtail MTB world there is much attention to compliance and flex in the rear. I guess in trials your hits are singular and intentional rather than the type of constant chatter encountered on a trail. Found myself wondering if the stiffness would mess with your timing and precision sort of like the difference in spoke windup between disk vs rim brakes.

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV Před rokem

      @@dansacco1964 Interesting for sure - I think you're right, the single hits on the back wheel compared to chatter makes a big difference in the requirement for the frame. I haven't felt it yet, at least..

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV Před rokem

      There are quite a few options out there...depending on which style bike you are running. I'm not totally sure if there's a proper aftermarket street trials fork to suggest. I know Crewkerz does a great competition fork for aftermarket, but not totally sure on street. Great question!

  • @sapinva
    @sapinva Před rokem +1

    A torque wrench won't save you from that. Freshly installed parts need to be stressed a little and re tightened, especially with soft materials like carbon. I've learned the hard way to do this in front of my garage instead of some place less convenient.

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV Před rokem

    How would you compare this bike against the Hex?

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV Před rokem

      The Hex sort of feels like a chopper after riding this bike. The Extension has a much shorter chainstay and a higher BB, so it’s extremely nimble and easy to move around. I think a few more rides on it and I’d be pushing past all of my personal records for height/distance.

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV Před rokem

    • @at5504
      @at5504 Před rokem +1

      @@SuperRiderTV Curious what the weight difference would be if you strategically picked components for a Hex or even a Fourplay. I recently got a Jitsie Varial Race 26" and it's insanely light compared to my Hex. It's a joy to ride a bike that light, esp. being over 40 where weight and leverage ratios determine how good your back feels after a 2 hr ride :D. I realize there's a still a lot of difference with the 24" and the higher bottom bracket though. Wish I could test one out before committing to buying one since they're quite expensive.
