Watching this video is like a magician showing you how the trick is done. The best tutorials I’ve seen for leather crafts. 🍻
Thanks! 😆
Now I’m craving chicken in a biskit, thanks Artie!
Thanks so much for giving us even more of your crafting process. What you contribute to the leather crafting community can not be undersold. Thanks Artie!
I really appreciate this! And thanks for watching!! Tell a friend. 😆
Love the Chloe clips! Pretty girl....
Thank you!!
AND…….I continue watching…….AND YOU BLOW MY MIND AWAY just by the ease of cutting the pieces out!!!!!
Thanks!!!
Thank you for showing how to make a squared piece of material. I practiced your method and finally cobbled together the tools and process. I am designing my own wallet and I can't wait to get this into practice. Thank you!
Excellent video as always. I've been using cereal box templates forever. Good stock and easily managed. The plywood helped alot. Sounds more solid. The obligatory thanks for Chloe and a well done tutorial. Bravo.
😆 yeah. Almost forgot about Chloe!!! But I got it.
These "how to" videos are really helpful. Thank you for sharing your process.
Thanks !!! Thanks for watching!!
Another great video, always informative and highly entertaining, Beautiful work !!
Thanks, Ken!!! Thanks for watching and tell a friend! 😆

Thanks again, for watching!!
Another piece of functioning art! Thanks brother!
Thanks for that!! And as usual, thanks for watching!!
Great video as always Artie! You are going to spoil us going forward...3 video's in almost a months time?! I've had the nesting arc jigs since December and never thought to use them in this way. If you explained the use of them for this type of creation before, I somehow missed it. You just opened up a world of possibilities! Thank you so much for opening your world to us once again!
Thanks!!! Yeah. There are so many uses for all the jigs and arcs. It’s hard to put them all in one video.
Your videos are addictive… in a good way! Cheers.
😆 perfect!!! Thanks for watching!!
Dope rulers I really need a pair for me too !!! Looks PERFECT for Leathercraft 👏🏽
Thanks!!!

👍🏻Thank You Sir! Great work yet again 👏🏻!

Perfect!!! Thanks for watching!!
Artie your inspirational and very appreciated thank you for sharing 👍🐶
Thanks for that and thanks for watching!
I think Andy needed a tether on his wallet so he didn't have to bend over to pick it up. Bought the bump jigs, bought the arc's, now I need the ruler. Stop making such useful tools! :). Great video Arty.
😆 thanks!!!
Another great vid. Thanks so much
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! Be sure to tell a friend. 😆
I like the Squale watch. Enjoyed the leather work.

Perfect!!! Thanks!!!
Great job, sir!
Thanks!! And thanks for watching!
@@MasconLeather I really like it sir and I try to do very similar work.
Another video knocked out of the park. And just a quick tip for anyone that doesn't have any 'cereal boxes'...you can buy a pack of 130lb card stock on Amazon.
Perfect tips!!! Yes. No need to be all fancy with pattern pieces. Hell, i used to use thick old nasty craft paper. Still have those patterns 8 years later. They’re just a guide.
Hi, I love your work! You make it seem so easy hopefully 🙏 one day I can win one of your beautiful wallets.
Awe ! Thanks!!!!
Another great video!
Why do you use the dye pen on the single layer, and the wool dobber on the multi layers?
Thanks again for you content!
Thanks !! Precision
I'm 56 and retired. I got into leather craft 2 years ago to keep busy. You said after 20 years in the corporate world you got into leather craft. How long have you been doing it? You make it look easy. I struggle with some things but an getting better.
Thanks!!! I’ve escaped 5 years ago. Did leather as a hobby for 6+ before that. And created efficiency and techniques based on construction background. (We’re also all brick masons, carpenters, etc.)
@@MasconLeather thank you. You are one of my inspirations..... and not just for the booze. I'm a Wild Turkey Rare Breed man lol
@@jeffreycrossin427 😆 perfect!!! (I’m mascon leather).
Hello, awesome video! What grit sandpaper do you use on your dremel?
Thanks for sharing these tips, I know they make my life easier! What product do you use to finish the flesh side? Looks like Tokonole, but you seem to need to put less effort working into the leather than I do.
Thanks!!! I’m doing a whole video on that part coming soon!
Thanks for watching!
Nice stuff!
Thanks!
Thanks!!
Great video, as always. Any pointers on where to pick up a 2" punch like the one you show? Everyone I seem to find is a corner punch, a belt-end punch or a half-round one...and yours seems to be more of an arc. thx!
Thanks!!! Yep, Amazon. Look for “arc” leather bunch. See my amazon links in video descriptions
Your videos have become my new addiction. Thank you for continually putting out such informative, entertaining product. Your pattern tips and tricks inspired me to try my hand at my first wallet! Please help me keep my sanity - I thought you mentioned that you had a video showing how you made your pony. I have searched and searched and found nada. Any help? Am I just misremembering. Can't wait for the next flick!
Hey!! Thanks for watching!!! And the kind words. No video on how I made it. But I have tons of photos on my Instagram page. When I made them. Over the years
Long time fan. Thanks for sharing all your tips. Was hoping you should share how I might be able to get an Horween ink stamp.
Thanks for the support!!! The stamp. I actually contacted nick Horween and we chatted at length about the legalities and copyright usage of the official logo. So I’d get permission first.
@@MasconLeather Thanks. Does this mean they sell the stamps? I didn't see any info on the site.
Oh. No!!! Not at all. I had to get mine all custom made. With nick’s permission.
Awesome video, have just been getting into leathercraft and your videos have saved me a sh!t ton of time! Might I ask what mm width do you set your wing dividers to? Mine are always too close to the edge or too far in!
Thanks !!! I usually do 5mm
Я тоже очень люблю фильм ПОБЕГ ИЗ ШОУШЕНКА, и мне нравится заниматься кожевенным делом.
Спасибо коллега. 👍
Saludos excelente👍👍👍
Thanks!!
Like your style you are fun to watch. Tell me what is the stuff you put on the back of the leather ?
Thanks!!! Video on that coming soon!
Facanating video %!
Thanks!!
Good very good
Hey there, just like every new video you have... iam hoping that it will be the one that you told us awhile ago now..." that's not pancake batter, stay tuned and I'll tell you what it is. " I always enjoy your vids, as a full time professional artist and Bookbinder... and a avid leathercrafter, I love your style of work sir. I want to start up my channel, but between working in the studio and bindery like a mad man, kids and life going to hell in a hand basket for me... I find time to my self, is few and far between. As always, thanks for the new vid... and iam still waiting lol.
Thanks!!! Yes. Possibly the NEXT video I’ll get into the pancake mix.
Wait what is the liquid used to finish the flesh side? It looks so good when it's done
@shawncorrigan7514 see my video “questions and answers “. At the end I explain it all
Love it brother. Can I ask and sorry if youve answered this before, but what distance from the edge do you set your stitch line. It looked to be about 3/16 but in video format its so hard to tell lol
Thanks! I usually go with 5mm from edge.
I went to the leather store and asked them for proprietary goo……. The guy laughed and said I love Mascon videos too!!! Then tried to sell me blinker fluid for my car. 😉
😆
Hello great video love your stuff but I am curious about that I believe glue you’re putting on the back or what are you putting on the back thanks
Video coming this week !
Yea thanks
Love your work, how long have u been doing this?
Thanks! About 10 years. See the video on the channel- “behind the brand”.
Great work as usual...
I have a question, what are you using on the back of your leather to slick it down? (The white stuff)
I tried to go back and watch though most of your videos to find out before I asked...
See the comment right before yours. I’ll be explaining all of that in another video.
Hi Art, 2 things, can you you tell me what type of edge paint you use? And the white cream substance you work into the back of the leather, is that the same as you use for burnishing, Tokonole?
Thanks for another great video!! All the best, Matt from England 🇬🇧 👍
No edge paint. Nothing synthetic. It’s fiebings dye. And white mud. Coming up in a video soon!!
Hello, I’ve been watching you for about a Year or so, thank you. I just took the jump and purchased your ruler and square. Oof! Love them and I consider them an investment. Anywho, you said you were going to make a video on the cream you use to slick down the flesh side. Any chance you could throw me a bone and let me know. Thanks for everything.
Hey!! Thanks for the support and watching the videos ! I’m working on a video right now. Hopefully it’ll be love this week .

thanks for the video and the insights into how to create patterns. On a different note, I remember in one of your videos you said that you were going to be answering one of the "burning questions" that a lot of people ask. that is "what is the white goop you are using when burnishing the flesh side of your leather?" . I have not seen a follow up after that. is that still in the plans to answer that or have you already done that, and I just missed it? thanks either way. appreciate all the videos you share with us!
Yes! That’s coming up.
The ironic part about doing designated videos from 1,000s of “burning questions” is - when I do them, they don’t do well. Low views.
Example- I’ve been asked 10,000+ times for a shop tour video. I finally did it, and it was barely watched (relatively speaking). So it’s a bit discouraging, from a creator’s perspective.
@@MasconLeather As one of the ones that actually watched your shop tour video, I thought it was very thorough and well done. It was cool to see your set up for filming and lighting. It was appreciated, and you might be discouraged by limited views, but you willingness to show a bit of your world with others can really be benificial and encouraging to other people out there that are just looking for some inspiration and different ideas. with that being said, thank you. thank you for spending the time to make all the different types of videos that you do. they are all appreciated!
See?!?! YOU are why I do it. People like you. It’s all worth it. Thank you!
I couldn’t agree more myself. Those that understand the workmanship of being a leather craftsmanship will and do truly appreciate the effort you put into making a video like the “shop tour”. As Bob Park signs his books “From my bench to yours” this video is in the same realm, from your bench to ours. I enjoy seeing your set up and seeing how you lay your shop out. Unless i am not accurate there aren’t many videos like that. So thank you for the video and opening up your shop to show everyone else. I am excited and eager to learn what the “white mud” is. I have many bottles of different products that I have bought and I feel like I still don’t have the right stuff lol.
Thanks Rob!
You are amazing. Can you please point me in the right direction find those rulers and curve rulers?
Thanks!!!

@@MasconLeather Thanks. Sitting here this evening watching you work. Love the quietness of your videos and love that you name your tools and where you get them. Thanks again.
👍👍
I’m sure you gave mention this in other videos. What is the product you are applying to the back of your leather before you cut out the wallet pieces? Thanks
It’s all explained in my questions and answers video.
What kind of dye do you use for your edges? The exact product would be great to know? Also where did you get that v gouge you use?
Dye - feibings.
V- gouge not in this video. They’re Barry king edge bevelers. See my leather tools video. I explain them all.
I saw the movie and unfortunately I couldn't find the scene where it shows the wallet...thanks for teaching!!

@@MasconLeather Thanks!
What did you use on the edges? Was it the same glue you used to piece it together?
No. See my “32 questions” video. I explain it all.
Artie, what ink pens do you use? The link to Amazon in your description doesn't have them
Watercolor refillable from amazon. 👍
Just curious as to why you cross over the top on your hand stitching
Your videos are always great! I do have a question, though. Is that Horween leather chrome tanned leather, and you're burnishing it with Tokinole? One day, I will invest in Horween, when I have more experience, but I saw that and wondered why you burnished the leather.
And if you have a video that explains that process, please tell me which one!
Horween Dublin. It’s not chrome. But more subtle than straight veg tan. I burnish chrome tan Horween too. Chromexcel, etc. it’s possible if you’re patient enough. See my last 32 questions video for more. 🤘
What did you put on at 7:50? Stiffening glue? Leather conditioner? I'm a pretty basic leather worker so far, but I plan on making this wallet!
It’s to burnish the back. Slick it. Video coming soon! On all those tricks. Thanks for watching!!
@@MasconLeather yes good stuff, I'm very interested in the burnishing of the back. For now I have to buy the less expensive leather, and the back needs work! :-)
What is that stuff you put on the back of the leather before you start working it?
See the questions answered video. I explain it all. 😉
Horween. Nice...
Thanks!!
Can you tell me what you burnish the back with. Thanks

Hello I am sure you have gotten this question a 1000 times
What fluid are you using to smooth the back side of the leather

What is the tablet that he crushed to rub into the edges?

@@MasconLeather gracias
Love this!! Do you have any opinions on a decent quality “beginners” leather? I love the leather you use but after looking it up, I’m not sure just beginning that I can convince the wife $285 is a good price point 😂
Yes. This will be explained more in my upcoming “Q&A” videos. But acadia leather has some hides that really similar to Dublin. Half the price. Tell them I sent you. 😉
@@MasconLeather much appreciated and I definitely will!!!
👍👍
How much is the small wallet you keep showing in the first half of this video ? I don't see it in your shop.
Question for you. The flesh side of the veg tan leather I bought does not look like yours. It’s “more like suede”.
