The Oilers would not have gotten this far without Knoblauch and Coffey. Terrific coach, and hope he stays coaching the Oilers for the foreseeable future.
You and rest of the coaching staff turned this team around to make the Stanley Cup Finals Game 7! That’s huge. Hardly anyone would’ve expected that. You deserve a break. I’ll see you in the Fall.
Not only persisting in the Final, but just making the playoffs with home ice in the first round. These two teams are A LOT more similar than most people have acknowledged (a long drought of basement dwelling and futility, replete with tons of top picks), but I honestly think the difference is HOW the Oilers and Panthers responded with those opportunities. Florida structured this team around defense and goaltending. Edmonton? Not so much. And I guarantee Florida still picks guys like McDavid and Draisatl, given the chance. But as a whole, they're a better team by NOT picking the best goal scorers and playmakers. It's the guys who have that grit, that desire to play defense, not just the ability to do so. The guys who break bones in their feet breaking shots and don't miss a shift. Florida's entire game is attack and suffocate the opponents chances to respond. And they did. Not all the time. Not consistently. But enough, and that's the difference it takes to win. By pushing into those plays and trusting you win more than you lose. You can go 16-12, usually not enough to make the playoffs, but enough to win a Cup. It's absolutely a new season, and this one will be just as important for Edmonton as the Panthers, once the smoke clears and Tuesday morning rolls around. Knoblauch likely gets at least 4 years in Edmonton out of this season. McDavid becomes a top paid player, or the Oilers win next season and then he becomes a top paid player. Florida isn't going anywhere either. They've been a top team for 3 years, and now they'll want more. The state of Florida is getting crazy for hockey, and I think their fan support this season has reflected that.
I will say we will know for certain how great this management is for Edmonton Oilers. This run was not in the Oilers' favor, but we made it beat all the odds. Management GM, 7 all the upper staff, know what is needed to fix the issues that brought us this year. We can make them better for 2024-2025. We know what to fix and add, too. That's it. Stay strong and be bent over for a couple of days, but then when July hits go right back, get the mentality back with it, ready to go from the start of next season

If those same parallels are to be noted and carried forward, those similar experiences and gracious moments of both poise and presence remain and persist, I firmly believe the Oilers can be that one game better next year.

The Oil aren't done by a long shot! Looking really forward to the 2024/2025 season!
Agreed. I saw it in the first few minutes and figured it wasn't going to end well if the Oilers didn't turn it up. They looked like they'd spent the day at the beach and didn't have the energy to play their game.
Without Kris we don’t make it to game 7, this guy was a revelation from Nov 12 to June 24th. We will be back stronger. If we just won game 1 or 3 we would have won the series. Florida was fortunate to be up 3-0 and got 4 cracks at the cup and the thought of being the biggest embarrassment in sports was enough for them to win game 7 whereas our boys had no gas left. Sadly this series was truly a coin flip and came down to not winning one of those first 3 games. Next year we will be better with a new GM and a top 6 sniper and two solid d men
Bad job coaching tonight. McDavid's play did not warrant the kind of ice time he got. Janmark-Henrique-Brown was the most effective line and they barely played the 3rd period.
The only line that had been getting consistent results throughout the series. I almost wonder if _simply winning_ wasn't the only thought process. "Redeeming" Draisaitl? "Cementing McDavid's legacy" with a few more points?

@@Ranbuowsatrawarriar Bye bye Mumford...Moma2 made hamburger out of you... you had 1 chance to adjust, your System and then the Panthers had the final adjustment, tic-tac-toe....lockstep. Moma2 and Nail Yakupov say hi and see you next year.
@@Ranbuowsatrawarriar The Panthers had no problems getting the message to the right places. : >) Maybe you wont even see the Playoffs next year?
Best coach Oilers have
Maurice out-coached him when it mattered. You got lucky playing LA in the 1st round, got lucky playing a young inexperienced Canuck team, and got lucky playing an injury-riddled Dallas team. Great coach though!
The second half was just watching Florida shoot the puck down the ice protecting their one goal lead! Not fun to watch!
Brett Kulak...... How can you let a 57 goal scorer have a wide open shot coming down from the wing? How about taking your man? You're FIRED!!!
Without knob oilers don’t get by the Canucks, guys a great coach, sorry oilers nation. Great season and series.
We should have never let them win 3 games in row, they would have won in game 6
I like him. Tough loss.

I've been a Kings fan since 1972 I am so happy Edmonton lost 2-1 in game 7 after coming back down 3-0 only thing better would have been a 1-0 score. getting knocked out 3 years in a row by the hated ones kind of does that to you.
Salty kings fan we will be waiting for you guys next year to knock you out of the play offs 😂
@@mattsnell5504 NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!😁
Can't lose with millions in the NHL! 🍎
Well the cup isn't coming home for Canada Day, but it's not the end of the world, Edmonton now has a pretty banging team n just needs a couple additions... like a heavy hitter who will make rough teams think twice about laying in so hard like George Laroche did... and dump Nurse and Kane.
Stanley cup has been in Florida more than Canada over the last decade. I am heart broken but that’s my comment. I think I am done….almost done with hockey in general. Don’t say it’s next year cause my father died waiting for the leafs to win since 78 when he came to Canada. I don’t know what to say
Did the best team really win? Puck luck won. Doesn't seem right.
This team relies on 3 players.
