- The start of a 1987 episode of Wacaday, the Wide Awake Club's slightly dimmer younger sister.
Of the good:
*Michaela Strachan is a lot better looking than I remember.
*Timmy Mallett sounds EXACTLY like David Tennant's 'Doctor Who'.
*That stupid budgie thing is called Magic, a fact that I had completely forgotten until I saw this and which came up in question form in a pub quiz the next day.
*"Transformers transform!"
Of the bad:
*No Transformers cartoon in the copy I have.
*Michaela Strachan's air of asexual friendliness kind of offsets her pretty face and nice legs.
*I miss not having any responsibility in my life.
*For some unexplained reason, the titles spell out "WOG" right at the start. Racism is not cool.
*The restriction on the amount of characters you can use in a title was exactly one less than I needed, hence the German "mit" replacing the word "with".
*We still lost the pub quiz. - Zábava
Nothing meant summer holidays more than Timmy in all his bright colours brightening up the mornings . Pure school holiday hype
I remember watching Wacaday as a teenager. Michaela is a legend.

He is as silly as I remember. As for Michaela, well what can I say, I would then & I still would now. She rules.
I met Michaela back in January when she came out to California shooting an episode for a show. We spent 2 days with her and her crew and it was fun. She's a really nice and pretty woman :)
I watched this everyday every summer holiday.
I used to follow all the things he did. I learned so much.
Timmy Mallet was brilliant. Genuinely a big kid himself a great presenter. Mikaela was too.
Michaela looks gorgeous there, she still looks lovely even now.

If Dick and Dom participated in Mallet's Mallet, they'd start crying and get their parents to file a lawsuit.
Kids of the 80s were tough!
Actually in the later Wacaday days they had to change Mallet's Mallet to avoid hitting the children. But don't blame the millennial kids, blame the parents for insisting on wrapping them in cotton wool!

I still love Michaela Strachan too. I sent off for a signed photo a couple of years back, just grabbed something off google and sent it. I almost met her had it not been for a crowd of people at a recording of The Hitman and Her at Palm Court , Southport back in 1990 or 1991....I forget now. All too long ago.

When this came on you knew it was the 6 week holidays god how i miss the 6 week holidays.
Same here, such good days. I hated and still do the “Back to School” signs in shops when those six weeks were coming to an end though!.
Takes me back to 1982 when I used to listen to Timmy Mallett on Radio Picadilly.

That theme tune is insane, almost as much as that of the show Chris Evans did in this timeslot until TV-AM sadly died due to the ITV franchise sell off in 1992/93. The theme tunes and the shows themselves were insane and is why I love them.

I used to love watching Wacaday as a kid! I appeared on the programme in 1989, which was great fun! I have the episode on tape and would like to upload it on here, but currently have no means of doing so. Timmy wasn't so 'wacky' behind-the-scenes - in fact, I found he and Michaela rather boring in real life! Was quite disappointed!
