- Matriarch: Place / Time / Memory illuminates the interconnectedness between one’s sense of place, our perceptions of sound organized in time, and the impressions they leave behind.
Exploring the Moog Matriarch synthesizer from their personal home studios, multi-instrumentalist Lisa Bella Donna; Ghostly Intl. electronic producer Max Ravitz (Patricia); Anthem, Call of Duty, and Assassins Creed composer Sarah Schachner; and Paris Strother of Grammy-nominated R&B duo We Are KING express four unique sonic perspectives on the new instrument within the context of their own creative environments.

14:15 EMPYREAN WINDS - Hudba
Miss Strother's performances blew me away. It shows the synth in a different light. I could listen to her classically influenced compositions all day!
Godzilla Hårddisksson That’s not always a bad thing as long as it’s not just the filter.
@Godzilla Hårddisksson Yes! Totally agree. I wish more people could be like her and show of how unique this instrument can be.
Same
Very mort garson!
@@6Sparx9 same. Eye turned parafonic unison on and Eye also turned “restore stolen voices on note off” to on. It's better. But nothing like what Paris is getting
This is how you demo a new product. Ace job, everyone involved!
Sarah Schachner, Empyrean Winds (14:05) OMG, the depth and beauty of that chord progression on the Matriach. Amazing sounding synth. Kudos to ALL musicians in this vid. Moog drops the mike yet again ;)
“Four Truths” 4:04
The best piece of the demo by my estimation... Showcases polyphony. Very creative.
6:15
2nd best piece
“Mono Memories” showcases monophonic power.
Dear Moog, I purchased the Matriarch solely on the Paris Strother clips alone in this video. The line at 13:37 and the bass at 13:45 pretty much sealed the deal. These demos are so musical. Thank you.
You are tearing me apart, Lisa! I’m so glad they got you for this demo!
Adam Jackson O H H I M A R K
Xiyu Yang oh hai matriarch
Being from the early moog Era young people doing moog makes me feel happy and young again. Thank you for this inspiring video 📹💖👏👍😎🌞
Okay but for real, can we talk about the run from 6:50 to 7:01? That was absolutely filthy! Excellent work to everyone who worked on this masterpiece of a demo :)
Moog have finally moved me to tears with this beautiful creation.
they make beautiful films (as well as sounds)
wow!!!
moog and Paris Strother and Max Ravitz and Lisa Bella Donna and Sarah Schachner just hitting it out of the park and into the cosmos and back into the fundamental vibrations. Loving it so much!! So inspired!
Stereo analog delay built-in. I'm sold.
Someone over at the Moog HQ definitely knows what he's doing. More demos like this please
Those lines by Paris Strother - WHEW, melted my soul.
She always comes through. I wonder when KING is gonna drop another album? We need more of Paris' lush production.
I love that in 2019 these wonderful artists are letting themselves get immersed in the true art of synthesis. Well done Moog family!!
Around 7:15, the sounds she's getting out of it instantly sold me. It was like some switch was flipped in my brain, and I now suddenly need this in my life. Masterpiece.
Beautiful synth, but the video is on a whole new level! Rarely have I seen a music gear manufacturer distill the very essence of their instruments and philosophy into moving pictures and sounds with such accuracy and elegance. Whoever contributed to this deserves a long, appreciative hug.
...and some serious job security.
The performances here are incredibly brilliant and the sounds of this synth are amazing. Moog is really just showing everyone who's boss right now.
The finishing chords were just incredible. 14:03 Art.
This was my fave part too
Oh sweet, legit tagged my favorite part of the video man. I got my matriarch a couple months back now... whew.
I Was not expecting this to be this good... so much depth. it gives me the impression like this single instrument has a room of its own its pretty organic sounding. Definitely a must have...
Lucas J nice
Sarah's patches are so expressive.
How to sell a synth! Wow, you guys nailed it. Congratulations.
7:30 ...OOOOOOOOOMG...
love you guys! Everyday I discover something new in this loveley piece of gear. 2 hours of matriarch and I'm back to inner peace.
Drool . . . This would look great next to my Grandmother. I love her dearly.
All very good ones with a favorite taste for Sarah Schachner's playing and sound design. So smooth and great.
Filthy, warm, dreamy, crispy... aah... I think the Matriarch is going to be a massive success for Moog. Its such an original design and for $2000, it seems to be so much more inspiring than the One. Is it just me?
Definitely not just you. IMO, it’s the best synth of the decade. The Prologue is very close for me, but the Matriarch sounds like it came from another planet.
The cat making the synthesizer sounds from its mouth mid-video made me laugh.
definitely my favorite part
Tahts haow cats nourmully saownd, yuu crayzie or sumtin?
So good! It's at the 7 minute mark. czcams.com/video/PZ3u7lv-lUw/video.html
@@fortheloveofnoise9298 no way. I'm sane.
Leggy Green Crime that cat has a maowy filter of the best kinds
It's a great time to be involved in synthesizers.
My biggest problem is choosing the right synth out of all these amazing choices I have!
it really is the second golden age of synthesizers... just amazing stuff all over the place -- I don't think anything will sound more magical than this Moog though (others have interesting features, like the Arturia 2S with its sequencer etc.)
"Passing Tones" gave me chills! Although Moog throwing in stock ambient and wind effects like us sound nerds wouldn't notice lol. Either way, great video, awesome synth and the sound design created for the transitions was actually pretty cool!
! This is really the Paraphonic masterpiece of my imaginings..except more organic and beautiful. I fell in love with the Grandmother.. its a magic box...The Matriarch ties it all together for me.
The 4-note paraphony + this vintage sound ❤️
I guess when your on your throne everyone wants to come for it? Yet no one can. Moog reigns supreme!!!!!!
Between 9:29 passing tones and 10:29 thankful diodes made me buy this keyboard today. I can’t wait I been wanting this baby for a year. We don’t have one on display at the Guitar Center I work at. Much respect to all the artist y’all are dope 🙌🏾
Love these videos. Moog make classical, serious musical instruments that are artisanal - and will still be treasured heirlooms in decades to come.
Makes me almost cry, gives me the chills. The edit, the sound is perfect. Well done, Moog!
Go Lisa go! I can really see and hear your connection to this Moog model. All of the musicians are amazing.
The sound of this amazing synth in the hands of these young amazing and beautiful musicians is fantastic. All that combined with the visuals creates an outstanding experience. Good Job Moog!!!
Super rad video and intro for the new Moog. All the artists really killed it.
Moogs are the only synthesizers I like, you could ship all the rest of them to the moon as far as I care but these things are unbelievable. I'm 67 and remember when these first came on the scene and always wished they were back, I always think of the great stuff Stevie Wonder did with them years ago.
better music on this than combining all of the videos for the moog one that i've seen (though I'm sure its more than capable)
Moved me to tears. I am not even sure if I want the machine now as I am nowhere close to the musicality of these artists.
LSA can help.
Yes you are... just keep playing, learning and trying.
Weird Music excuse my ignorance but what is LSA?
Steve Late the musicality of an instrument like that can create/ multiply yours
Did you mean to type LSD?
This synths sounds great, Lisa blew me with Grandmother, and again with Matriach ! I love Sarah's performance too ! Can't wait to put my hands on it :)
Video was a really good Production, some very good and imaginative shots..Synth sounds great also.
Fantastic performances and sounds. Great features, my new “must have” synth for the year. Glad I held off on getting the GM!
Wow do I ever want this...
I’ve been avoiding demos because I know I’ll want it. I finally caved and now I have to have it. Honestly you could make a careers worth of albums with this synth alone.
14:02 The best comes last! So beautiful....
Cinematographic demos. Just love them! Congrats all involved!
Lisa and Paris sold me.
This was dope. Good job Moog, you guys and gals are doing nothing but good work.
Sarah Schachner! What the hell! You're absolutely incredible!!!! Thanks for the inspiration :)
Beautiful... Just a beautiful sounding instrument.
Great job in this video. Showing the complexity in the instrument from multiple perspectives.
This thing sounds seriously sinister and ethereal all at the same time. Going to have to think hard about this....
Absolutely love this synth better start saving..
Thank you all for the inspiration you are all brilliant
Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!! I'm in love. Sounds absolutely incredible. 'All Your Synth Belong To Us'.
Performance, synth, room - all are great.
I just want to listen to this all day!
god damn. moog just keeps putting out incredible stuff. unbelievable, cant wait to get my hands on one!
Thanks for introducing me to Paris and her group, they’re something else.
WOW so many things in just one synth and what a beautiful clip, people and music!!!
12:13 NICE GROOVE!!!
#LOVE #SYNTHS
Very good! Peace and quiet Moog music. I better start saving up my $$$ to buy this 👏🌙
Bravo Moog. And to every one of you musicians. And lastly, but definitely not leastly, the videomakers.
It's a good time to be alive.
DIV1NITAL lol
...this much later I am still floored by this synth. I am buying one.
Very dope! Matriarch sounds amazing.
Wow. This video literally made me laugh out loud, jump up and down in my chair, and also weep a bit, more than once. A wonderful tribute to the diversity and exploration of a certain type of musical and social culture. Gorgeous evocations, memories, and, of course, sounds!
Moog Music, are you crazy? The specs of this synth left me speechless. Now this is my ultimate dream, to sit that 4-oscillator beast over an Hammond with a Korg SV-1 at my left, and play the old progressive leads with that. This machine is already legendary. Thank you, Moog Music Inc., for providing us those beautiful instruments. And I'm saying this with a Sub Phatty on my bed, sleeping with me.
deep and evocative, transcendent and transportative back in time to when we thought about the future we now find ourselves within
that whole super-wide stereo panning business takes me right back to the little flexidisk records you'd get in Keyboard Magazine demonstrating the new synth of some kind
Paris killed it in this one. Hands down. I had the day off and have been drinking my coffee and just soaking it in on repeat all morning. So smooth.
11:18 Love the ode to Wendy Carlos. Nice touch from Lisa. Great depth and variety in these performances - stunning product.
The First Moog i will buy... someday
I enjoyed every track on here. Fantastic work by all involved.
Really great video. The artists all get a lot of expression out of that synth. Congrats to Moog on the NAMM TEC Award!
Excellent music and video production. Congrats to all
Stunningly beautiful video.
Stuff like this should be on spotify please
This plus Valhalla Delay will open the 10th dimension. I own a GM and will buy this. I don't know how but I will have it the day it comes out. Thank you Moog for making this planet fun for me.
Dale Cutler Yes :) The Valhalla Delay is beautiful
Beautiful sounds
This ad is art. Holy shit. Bravo.
empyrean winds piece towards the end is my favorite sound
Excellent video, excellent synth.
Yes. Fantastic synth.
Looks like the perfect companion to my Dave Smith pro 2
Now this is a proper Moog promo video. ♥️
Well, that certainly is some very beautiful music. ❤
A very cool video, great performances and it sounds absolutely amazing !
This is the one, folks. I've only watched this promo 15 times... If I'm not mistaken my Matriarch is in the mail right now, so this may be the last time I'll see this video for awhile. Excellent work performers, excellent work cinematographers, and excellent work Moog - as always!
jON Giusti I have the same feeling. I’m way behind on the preorders so mine won’t be here until the end of November - beginning of December but I can’t wait. I think this is the synth I’ve always wanted.
Wow. Just wow. It sounds so freaking good and looks absolutely beautiful 😍😍😍
Good to know some people like the design of it. I personnaly don't like those colorful cases they're making now, feels like a kid's toy.
Note there are no negative threads on the whole page, because Moog/Google delete or ghost them. If it's actually so great, why can't they allow criticism?
Suba I actually love the “kids toys” look. This is what I like about the Buchla aesthetic. It inspires wonder and creative exploration in me. It invokes the boundless plasticity of the child mind.
Lol are you insane
Suba yeah not a fan as well , but the sound more than makes up for this 60’s futurism inspired color scheme , not to mention finally going beyond monophonic
I played this in my car and I could feel the bass under my bum.
INCREDIBLUE
ha,,incredibum:)
incrediblue is my new favorite word :-O
This is amazing, the music and the video.
I love that sound! Two GM's in one box :)
Just ordered mine so excited!!!
Paris Strother's mellow tunes were lovely.
Nice one - Thank you Moog!
15 minutes of pure richness
Amazing shots!
You guys did it! You read my mind! I was thinking w/ the One out, if only they would now do at least a 4-note poly that is worth waiting to go for, and though I was impressed w/ the minilogue XD I just didn’t want to give up my Sub Phatty for it.
But 4-note paraphonic or not, WITH 90!?! Patch points, ugghh!!!
I’m putting away for this one! Thanks to everyone at Moog.
But wait, is there a chance your making a 4-note poly in the vein of the One? With patch memory and the mod matrix, and the selectable pole filter??? As much as I like the idea of modular, I’d rather have patch memory. But then Again this synth is folking killer!! So if not I’m still buying this as my poly.
Great performances, and Bella Donna, loved seeing you rock the Matriarch!
Love the name!!! So exotic!!
Compliments... it's really incredible! Hallucination AND craftmanship together, i love this kind of creativity! I was really wondering what all the hype was for, about the Matriarch, and in less thatn 15 minutes I'm hooked!!!
Sounds great!
