    Thanks for showing how you measure and about getting the correct bolt lengths. Great!

    Make sure you keep stock bolts in the trunk with the spare whee just in case. I owned a bmw and had aftermarket wheels on it. One day got a flat and put stock spare on but the longer bolts locked the wheel until i went and got stock bolts.

    Can you post the part number of the 20mm and 15mm spacers and if possible the actual website part link. I got a 2008 a8 and looking to get these.

    I have a Audi RS3 with a box of spacers from ECUtining, I’m in MN, I need help with install. I got the box that just came from ECUtuning specifically Hubcentric for the RS3. +10mm front and +15mm rear along with new Nuts/bolts that came with them.

    Super cool! I will definitely be thinking of adding some spacer to my audi a8l 4.2. Once I fix the suspension issues. All my wheels are different heights. I guess all it needs is a calibration, don't understand why did it uncalibrate...

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  Před 6 lety

      Yes! Spacers made a huge difference. Make sure your car is on a perfectly level surface. It's really easy to get different readings on each wheel if you're not quite level

    Do you think 15mm front 25mm rear would be too much? I'm looking to put C6 RS6 9.5J wheels on my S8, which are effectively -15mm on offset (so no spacers on front, 10mm rear).

  • @rodneyk9898
    @rodneyk9898 Před 6 lety +1

    How much did the spacer cost? So the rear bolts are about 50-60 mm long?

    Thank you for these videos. I've been waiting to find someone who's actually done their own work. I commented on your suspension video and pleased to hear your a fellow Minnesotan. I'm down in Albert Lea and make it to the cities fairly regularly. What are the good car/Audi events up near you?

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  Před 6 lety

      Yes! Another Minnesotan! Nice! My in-laws are from Keister down past you a ways. I just got my S8 back in October, so I haven't had a chance to hook up with any Audi groups or clubs yet, but would love to! I can't wait for car show season to start back up. Send me a message next time your up this way and I would love to get some pictures of our cars together.

      Auto Detour crazy small world, but hey it's Southern Minnesota and everyone is 6 degrees away from knowing everybody. I'll actually be up there this next week to drop the car off at Raymond Auto Body. My dad parked the car on a cement parking block and proceeded to rip the bumper off and damage basically everything in the lower bumper. Maybe when I pick it up I can swing it by.

    Hello. Nice Audi S8. Can you tell me how did you find that specific car. What specific things were you looking for with that car. What things did you look at. Im looking at that same S8 or a A8L.
    Im looking to make a Stock OEM S8 look better than new or a A8L that should of been a RS A8L.

    Great video, You mentioned you used 40mm lug bolts for your spacers. Is that the same size for the front spacers at 12mm and the rear 20mm?? Thank you.

    I'm interested to know what benefits you gained with this? Doesn't doing this add more stress under load, I had a friend once who's wheel snapped off on the spacer bolts, I'm assuming his bolts may not have been long enough? Be interested to know your thoughts, I have order some as I like the lower profile look, I also ordered the Ross tech interface. I picked up my 2008 S8 the other day and it is in pristine condition with only 32k miles on the clock full service etc. Drives like new I have posted a video on YT Audi S8 2008 NZ if you keen.

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  Před 6 lety +1

      Hey David! I just watched your video. Beautiful car! Are you selling it? Anyway, I haven't noticed any difference other than it looks way better with the spacers. So, I did it strictly for cosmetic reasons. As for stress on the bolts, these are relatively thin spacers and it is very important to get some that are hub-centric. Some cheaper spacers are not and that leaves the weight of the car hanging on the lug bolts. Lug bolts are only designed to hold the wheel on, not hold up the weight of the entire car. Oh and of course make sure you have long enough lug bolts. I hope that helps!

      The difference is that you now have a wider track width. Essentially add more traction under turning.
      But if you look at the front suspension cross-section of the car, since your tire-ground contacts are further, it will weaken your suspension.

  • @lpratt3
    @lpratt3 Před 6 lety

    I see that the spacers you got are H&R. I know they're a very good product. Where did you source your spacers? So many choices of where to purchase them out there.

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  Před 6 lety

      I got the H&R spacers and the lug bolts from Jason Anderson at Anderson Motorsport, Inc in Chanhassen.

      He was great to work with and ground shipped them to my house so I didn't have to drive all the way across the cities.

    So I have a 2006 Audi my factory wheels are 19`` and I got some 20`` Audi wheels do u think I have use spacers to make it fit ?

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  Před 6 lety

      That depends on the width of the wheel and the offset. If they are the same on both wheels then you should be fine. I only used the wheel spacers for cosmetic reasons.

    Nice video! I’m planning on buying spacers - did you use loctite on the threads on the bolts that lock the spacers or did you go without?

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you! No loctite needed. Just get the longer lug bolts and torque them down just like you normally would.

    When we want to lift s8 is it necessary to put it in jack mod

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  Před 6 lety +1

      Syed Umar It's not necessary, but very helpful. I found that it can be very difficult to get the jack out from under the car if you don't put it in jack mode because the air suspension drops when you lift the car, even when the car is off.
