However, while many of their products work to great effect, some really don't and become infamous as a stain on the fast-food world. With that in mind here are the Top 10 Failed McDonald's Products.

SUMMARIES:
- Unlike other entries on this list, the reason the McAfrika failed wasn't because of the food itself.
- Despite the popularity of hot dogs and the fact that McDonald's could sell them cheaply, the McHotdog didn't take off.
- The Arch Deluxe was a quarter pounder with peppered bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, ketchup, and a secret sauce.
- Designed more for the Japanese market than for the US, the McGratin Croquette consisted of deep-fried macaroni, shrimp and mashed potato, which was then served on a bed of cabbage and stuffed into a bun.
- The main reason the McDLT didn't work was due to the packaging.
- One of the main reasons people were turned off by the McLobster was its price.
- The Hula Burger was one of the biggest flops to happen to the Golden Arches chain.
- The main reason for the McPizza fail was that when people wanted pizza, they tended to go to one of the many pizza chains rather than McDonald's, which makes sense.
- The pasta dishes McDonald's experimented with were Lasagna, Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Fettuccine Alfredo.
- Back in the early 1990s, particularly after the huge success of products like Diet Coke, McDonald's tried to get in on the fat-free and sugar-free markets that were gaining steam with the introduction of the McLean Deluxe.

I liked the McDLT, but they should have put the cheese on the patty so it would melt. Otherwise, I had no problem flipping the one half on the other. It was a good burger. Great video.

Just stopped by McD's for a snack- 2 hamburgers (that used to be $1) and a small order of fries that were way too salty, cost $7.99...Never again.

It’s kind of ironic because Mcdonald’s started as a hotdog stand.
Before Ray Kroc passed away in 1984, he did got a string of flops for McDonald's including McDLT, Arch Deluxe, Mighty Wings and more. As years went by, McDonald's has learned their lesson and focused more on the successful fast food world.
The original McAfrika sounds delicious, but I'm trying to figure out what Africa has to do with this sandwich. There is North Africa with its Arab Muslim majority. East Africa with breads like injura in Ethiopia, and all the other countries that probably have food that is completely different from one end of Africa to another. That would be like making a McNorthAmerica sandwich. The food that the Inuits eat in Canada is probably nothing like the food in Southern Mexico, and all the land in between!

I had no idea McDonald's tried to get into pizza, alfredo, spaghetti and lasagna. Here in MD, I heard McDonald's tried to introduce the McCrabcake back in the early to mid 90s. But, I wouldn't know because I was just a baby. LOL

McDonald's featured hot wings at one time, and they were the biggest and best wings anywhere. But wings are a costly purchase for them. Also, they tested an English Wimpy's style burger. It was great, with a rye roll and a quality burger smothered in grilled onions, just like the Wimpy's in London. Why these two items 'failed', or were withdrawn, is a mystery to me...

Mc D's can get into the pizza game by outsourcing pizza puffs from iltaco. Just give them a certain spec and they can pull it off. Mom and pop shops in Chicago might be a little pissed

I liked the hot dogs. Never saw pizza. I hadn’t seen a lot of them and glad! Some I really liked they removed that’s why I rarely go to mcDonalds anymore. Loved the McRib they entice to go and that, minus their nasty pickles!!!!

There is a very similar food at Mc Donalds exclusive to Mc Donalds in Pakistan, UAE and Saudi Arabia. It is called Mc Arabia. It’s basically a burger but replace the buns with pita bread.

McSpaghetti is popular and beloved in the Philippines. But it did flop everywhere else.
The McDLT was awesome, and actually did quite well for McDonalds. What killed it was the packaging, not customer demand. I still miss it.

The pizza does look nice but I admit I wldnt get one from there, just because of having 2 wait so long. I'm not someone who likes eating in front of ppl so it's always been a quick order for me

I do believe you missed the Chicken Wing fiasco. The worst chicken wings on the planet. They featured a yellowish gelatinous substance that filled any nooks and crannies in the batter. It was perfectly executed if you really enjoy taking a bite and then spitting it out.
Reason why they did not want the pineapple burger is because of the cheese.
Same items just rearranged into a new list. Seen all these on babble top lists.
