I love these kind of reviews. Thiem is one of my favourite players and the amount of power and topspin he can generate on some shots is insane... Great review as always!
@ Silent....I'll second that....well said. 😎
Also, very interested to try RPM power, not sure when it's due to land out here. Although, I've never been a huge fan of blast.
Cheers 🎾🎾🎾
Love these player racket videos! Keep them coming!
This may be my favorite of your videos (besides the one one on the trend of softer string at lower tensions). So much inside information!
Once again outstanding video!
Very informative. Excellent job.
Love these types of vids
My weapon of choice, love this racket with Volkl Cyclone Tour!
16x19 or 18x20?
The 2017 Pure Strike Tour (18x20)
Love the series can you do Shapovalov at some point. Im still using the wilson prostaff midsize 85....absolutely love it!
2:20 I think it's hilarious that Babolat still insists that they use their branded finishing tape on the grip, even though it's blatantly obvious that he's using Tourna Grip.
I think head does too. You can buy head tourna haha.
Pretty common actually
DeeeFoo what is tourna grip?
DeeeFoo oh shoot, that actually looks very helpful. Thank you man!
You're welcome! Best overgrip ever for people with sweaty palms.
My 2nd racquet of choice in my bag is the 2017 Pure Strike 16x19 strung with RPM Blast at 25 kg, it's a killer of a racquet.
and who did you kill with it?
Really enjoying these videos!!
I guess those are Jack Sock's racquets next to Thiem"s racquets @2:24? I just received 2 of them (in the original paint) from prostocktennis. I can't wait to string them up and hit some balls with them as I have the standard pure aero VS tour racquets and love them. And I only know about prostocktennis from watching your youtube videos and facebook page! Thanks for your excellent work!
Can can you rank the Yonex v pro racquets what is your favorite one? Duel g 330g, 2018 ,2019 version and the HD 18x20 Thanks!
Make video about tsitsipas racket, great videos keep it up
Love it!
Seems like it's easier to learn topspin by starting with an 18x20 pattern 50lbs string tension. I started playing with a Babolat Pure Control 95 racquet, 16 gauge poly, 50lbs+4grams at 12 O'clock. I also practiced a lot though, on the court by 7 AM, and 9 PM at night before bed. I'm now using the Pure Strike Gen 3, 55lbs, with 16gauge RPM Blast + 4 grams of weigh at 12 O'clock. The racquet excels at volley's, and generates enough topspin at the baseline. Previously, I had problems returning high-heavy topspin balls, but that's no longer an issue with the Pure Strike. I return the ball, and it cuts fast, and low above the net. For me, going deep beyond the 4ft from the baseline, full swing is needed, I've hit balls into the net often. What's more important than topspin is the placement, feel, and control of shots. Pure Strike doesn't have as much control, and feel as my PC95, but after adding 4 grams to center-of-racquet head, I had more feedback from shots. As for serves, the Pure Strike did better with serves than the Pure Control. For Pure Strike, the ball is fast with a moderate topspin. I'd say the Pure Control is a powerful all court racquet, easy to control power, extremely precise at volleys.
I'm hoping that Dominic will continue to play the situation in matches just a little more forward. Sometimes ending the points sooner will help in the later rounds of matches. Final four in at least 2 of the 4 slams in 2020.
Good prediction! Haha
I hope Babolat releases a Thiem Team racquet :P
Hi, could you do Nishikori's racquet?
little did we know that we wouldn't even get to see him play this year
he uses grip 2 with an overgrip?
I think he should go with more weight under the grip. 320-325 Unstrung. The guy is strong. He won’t feel much of the static weight. But get more stability and maneuverability. Same sw. An easier swing and timing. I’m curious on his racquet’s stiffness rating.
what a sick thumbnail
He has a Head pallet custom fitted to his Babolat strike racquets
source?
Angejo ‘ I can’t find the source unfortunately, but it has to do with him previously using head racquets and preferring the head pallet, so Babolat just fit head pallets for him. It’s not an unusual occurrence...
He is gonna win
Can you do a video of a pro who's style who doesn't match their racquet?
0:49
When did he used Head graphene xt speed pro ? I can't find any video where he plays with that racquet
@@chuckfriebe843 0:50 actually, it must be speed pro
@@jovicaleksandar4773 well he looks 17-18 year old there so good luck
What about some old tennis players? Agassi? RetroTennisNerd.
Plz do Kyrgios next
I wonder why he didn't use the 2017 version of the Pure Strike 18x20 because there isn't much of a difference between it and the 2019 version. If he switched to the 2017 version I wonder how he would have played then.
Might be the feel. The original pure strike has a very unique feel. It is softer like an old pure control with a bit more pop, but the 2017 version is very hollow and stiff like a pure drive. Recreational players need better power and stability that's why there is more love for the 2017 version than 2014. However, since pro players like Thiem are way stronger and can hit way more consistent, and also they add more weight to the hoop to make the frame more stable, the feel of a frame is pretty much the only thing they cannot customize. And the 2019 version compared to the 2017 the only significant change is the feel, 2019 has a softer, dampened feel which does feel a little more close to the original one.
I'm glad I never sold all of my old head youtek prestige mp. Good backup stick to my graphene touch prestige mp
That's a good frame!
Make one of the Richard Gasquet please
Babolat releases thiems specs on their instagram story a while ago. Contact me for the picture I took if you would like.
How would you compare the pure strike to vcore 98?
Hey mate, maybe a little bit of more depth or rare spec facts on the analysis on Thiem's racquet such as he uses the Pure Strike Tour as a matter.of fact. Nevertheless, nice video.
Victor Manuel Gonzalez I thought the same thing
How do these pros get stencil to stay so long?
They get painted every time they are re strung, which is like every 2 weeks or sometimes even after every match.
Thiems Racket weight (unstrung) 317g, Balance 314cm SW 310,
》 Seems to be the common Tour version! true? or does Thiem play the stiffer MP with additional weight?
-
then you say 335g, Balance 32.6cm, SW 340》 Do you mean unstrung too?
(I tend to believe that Thiem plays this head heavier stick;)
Pretty sure Thiem does not use a racquet that has only 310 SW in stock form, even though he has tremendous racquet head speed. I believe he's in the 340-350 SW range after lead and silicone customization.
Saw lead tape in one of the pics.
3,9 and 12
👊👊💥
Thiem is phenomenal! He appears to have a huge grip change from forehand to backhand but somehow he manages to do it. With his long swings and big grip change, he has to play far behind the baseline especially for return of serve. My arm would fall off if I used his racquet (which is very stiff)!
In other words, stay away from babolat!😝
I wonder, isn't it better if he uses 16x19 pattern, like rafa? Because his play style basically outhitting his opponent with topspin right?
I think he needs the control on his huge swings
Please do shapovalov next
Can you do Tsitsipas next? Or are you doing it as the ranking goes?
How does he know all this
And how does he get the racket?
Osama Leonour check the tennis warehouse forums. People buy the racket that pros have actually used and break them down.
Remi Barron why do they buy it just to break the racket? Does it make them feel like how a frustrated pro tennis player breaks it when gets mad after losing a game?😁
@@zacharywan2004 By breaking them down he meant that people buy them to check the specs hehe, they dont literally break the racket hehe :D
Is he using any of these racquets though? Aren't these all pro stock versions? I find it odd this isn't stressed when you do reviews on pro stock racquets.
You know they have pro stock strings too?
There's a pretty big chance that these players are using different layups than the retail version e.g. Tsisipas's customized 2012 Amplifeel Blade so it is weighted roughly 320 grams unstrung as opposed to the retail version (305 grams unstrung) but I believe the basic mold is the same as the retail version. But yeah I also read somewhere that Thiem's Project 2.0. Pure Strike has lower RA than the retail version. Not sure if that information is reliable or not, though.
i totally agree....nothing worse than being injured and not being able to hit!
Why didn’t you talk about the specs of the racquet?
3:33
the best raquet Prince graphite pro 90
Does he use any additional weights?
Yeah he does! He has additional lead tapes at 3 and 9 o'clock i have no idea how much it weighs tho.
Weight at 3,9 and 12 under the head guard and counterbalanced in the handle
0:47, how did he know?!
Can you present us the raquet from the really Goat Dustin Brown?
Isn't that one just a pure drive with solinco barb wire at like 70 pounds?? I heard that somewhere
Dustin Brown is far from being the GOAT
Mike Preiss this specs are very old. He know plays with Head
He also transferred his look after making money. How money helps tremendously (Holy surgery
So is the racket that Thiem uses the same that is sold on the market ?
Yes, but customized
Grand Slam 2020 he is a true champion💪🇦🇹
Love your channel! Keep it up. Would you be kindly check out some of my hitting sessions with different racquets and give me some advice too? Thanks coach !
much easier for a clay specialist to get good on hardcourt and grass, than it is the other way round. thiem and tsitsipas are going to be the ones who finally take over from the big 3
He is going to win a grand slam in 2020. Lol
He just beat Nadal in epic 4 set Battle
Yes, impressive!
He doesn’t use a dampener huh
No, he doesn't.
people would actually pay for a racquet and string rec??? gotta figure out a more creative business model man. great vids tho really enjoyed that one!
from the past: he will get injuries
No new information about theims racket .. just the promos for your $20 service and selling some other fitness videos 🤦♂️
overrated player, look at him this year
