After this week of kendrick and drake going back and forth, listening to ice spice was even emptieeeer than usual. It felt like you could hear the lack of artistic development, the fact that she doesn't even seem to care about music etc. It's just boring.
Also i feel ice could just be guided better by the people around her. Like okay, what is the big picture here and help her move in that way.
For real. It felt deflating and sad. Like we've been listening to Kendrick's greatness and then return to this? Come on. What's sad with it too is that I didn't get the same feeling when listening to Megan.
@@apparentlylivin Well, in Megan’s case, it was js bad timing, as she’s dropped two serious songs, but this song js seems like it’s more her goofing around, and js to differentiate between the other two singles.
Exactly bro let’s be honest this happened to almost every mainstream rapper, especially trap artist except for people like j Cole and Travis Scott, like people were craving and wanted real rap and we got some golden ish from both Kenny and Drake, and we got reminded what real rap is.
@@tee3835ice spice isn’t a good artist if she didn’t look the way she does she’d be nowhere near
She will be another Saweetie at this point if that album doesn't do what it needs to
All female rappers in this lane are Saweetie-like. If female rappers want to do better, they need to bring better music and worry about bars, not a** shaking. They have to care about the art of Hip hop and the craft. Any artist that tries a little bit can get mainstream numbers if they make catchy music and club hits but that don't really get you respected inside of hip hop itself.
@@drjonesey5tbf men which dominate music industry only gaf about female rap if there’s sex appeal. No one label or music agencies would’ve pushed Nicki or Meghan Doja Cat if they didn’t have it. Can’t hate on them for adapting to how men have always regulated female artistry

I already told yall she setting her self up for failure😂 ain’t no one want a ice spice album, she goin sell 2k first week 🤣🤣
Not really if all her other songs got some good streams & views.
@@numbersonly12345 There's a difference between main stream listeners and Hip Hop culture fans. I don't know anybody inside Hip hop culture on the street, in the barbershop, who listen to bars, who rock with up coming artist who cares about Ice Spice AT ALL. The only people I see care about Ice Spice are Content creators, those who want to see her shake her a**, people with vested interest like folks from the Bronx where she's from (I'm from Brooklyn) and the random mainstream listeners. Mainstream listeners have high numbers, but they're not like true hip hop fans. Ice Spice is a generic artist who gets clicks off of sexualizing herself. The streams and views are good for her pocket, not for her respect level or care among dedicated hip hop folks.
You either can be an artist who is respected for your craft in hip hop, or just a passer by who made some decent cash but you're not really respected down the line. Nobody is going to care about Ice Spice 20 years from now IF she stays on this generic a** shaker path. If you are a female artist and someone like Sexy red is comparable to you, that's not a good thing for YOU. Nikki did the same thing but she's more respected because she has bars, and overtime her public persona is shown to be a little more mature so she gets a pass. Nobody I know really takes Ice Spice seriously in hip hop. Many forgot she exist already. They associate Ice Spice with her looks only.

Not a hater or fan of her but we all knew at some point this was gonna happen. Doja Cat started off as a gimmicky artist to grab people’s attention and then started showing us more of her range. (Which I think was intentional) But I honestly don’t think Ice Spice as an artist will progress from where she is now. She’s a beautiful young lady, so there’s always gonna be ways for her to make money. But music, nah, not for long.
Well said
I agree. Finally a mature take on this.
She look like she got downsyndrome. SERIOUSLY

She didn’t start off as a gimmick she always had talent. That’s just the song that stood out for her
She makes terrible music but I don't think the label EXPECTS good music from her. They want her to use hip hop to become an influencer first. This is Vanilla Ice in 2024.

TBH! I don't see her being around 2-5 years with the music she's putting out. Sure, she's only 2 years into her career, with big co-signs with A-list celebrities (Nicki and Taylor) and has so much to learn and grow as an artist, but I really want to see her improve on her craft as a whole. It seems like she's not going to progress anytime soon. This new single wasn’t hitting at all.

Ice spice gat no talent, just a good physique that she overuses, which is annoying.
Bold of you to assume she writing her music
If she isn’t then lmao they are setting her up for failure
These new female 'artists' need to understand that thirst trapping your way into the music scene does not make you an actual artist. Still gotta prove yourself before you get respected
This was only a matter of time. There is no substance to her music. She was going to get stale pretty quick.
She’s an image, not an artist…we’ll get an only fans before we see some artistry out of her
No hate, this is just reality
She wouldn’t have lasted in hip hop more than one year in the 90s. Social media is the only thing saving her. She’s been on a lifeline since her first single
You keep saying you’re not expecting better from her, but WHY NOT??? We need to stop coddling her she needs to improve or switch to an influencer nobody wants to keep hearing them mediocre ass 4th grade bars. And yes this is coming from a fan of hers
She has no substance; her style and production has already run its course well before her debut album. This is only inevitable since she was an industry plant picked for the way she looked. I just don’t see her being the type that releases albums. As someone said in the comments she raps like she’s doing freestyles on instagram live. There will be one or two good songs, tops on that album.
And it’s not as if her music is the type that you would be fine with others knowing that you listen to it. I really like her so I want to be wrong, but this fall off just seems inevitable. Sexyy redd seems to be her replacement, and people are ALREADY fed up with her. Female rap is in a really dark place right now.
But in the underground, it’s really good. I like BK Tha Ruler, but I also like Tia Corrine. The latter is what Ice Spice could have and should have been, and what I thought she would evolve into by now. I really wanted to see a collab.
Kendrick vs Drake really opened my eyes up to how TRASH a lot of these rappers are. I knew they were bad but not THIS bad. And with the death of generic trap and emotional trap it means a lot more of these artists are going to have to evolve quickly, or else they’ll get replaced. Also, what happened to Lil Nas X? It seems like he can only stay relevant with controversy? Is his music actually good? Because he can make some catchy tunes. I now see why my old school hip hop friend hates modern rap.
Japanese rap is in a weird place. On the one hand you have a lot of the modern stuff, but it’s really based on 2016 American rap. Then you have the genre as a whole which is still influenced by that 90s American vibe. We are at least 7 years behind you guys lol. I think we have some of the best producers though. The afrobeats and house/garage vibe fits really nicely over the chill style of rap many artists have. Either that or it’s super aggressive.
bktharula is boring asf. and lyrics are lame/corny too. she would never be a replacement.
idk if the poop bars have reached their full potential i think you should give them a chance🔥 hear me out. as far as poop rap, we are still in the infancy stages of this new sub genre and Ice Spice is at the forefront of the poop movement.

Ice Spice is the Eugene character from WWE back in 2004. Short shelf life. These Looney Tunes rhymes are insulting
It’s only so much of one earthquake people will deal with before they’re over it. That’s what was keeping her afloat..
I think you're the only person that doesn't know what Ice Spice's potential is. It's VERY evident to us that she's a glorified Instagram model with no talent. I'm more confused that you're a music person and can't see this.
I tried listening to Ice Spice since she came out with Bikini Bottom, and I've said it back then, and I'll say it now. I honestly don't get it. I didn't enter her discography to be disappointed. I was only slightly disappointed because people who recommended her to me got my hopes up, but I'm not disappointed in her songs being either average or even boring as her career goes on because it was exactly what I expected after hearing the first song for the first time. If someone tells me that an artist is next star potential, I better see something that gives them next star potential. With Ice Spice, I literally see nothing except for that she's attractive (Which that within itself, there is absolutely nothing wrong with), and that's why she got big.
Just heard and yeah it’s worst than that sponge bob type beat song
Bikini bottom was good lol
Decent
Dope video Pay, what you think about Gunna One of Wun ?
I don’t listen to her but I hear some snippets of her popular songs every once in a while on my feed. With this album name it has me thinking it may have a different sound. In the future maybe she’ll go like a snowstrippers/pink pantheress/ babyxsosa type vibe. Or a pop kinda vibe. I feel like that’s how she could evolve her sound. Obviously not sounding like them but doing her own thing in that similar lane
The snippet she posted on X before gimme the light dropped was actually crazy. She changed her whole sound. I wish we got that song instead of this
Honestly Meg the Stallion improved a lot since her first song.
Her recent songs out now are decent if she’s your lane.
I’m more interested in the beats and instrumentals but her flow is dope.
Justice I guess I'm confused. How much progress SHOULD she have made in the last couple of years? I'm not a fan of hers, but I think y'all are being u realistic. She's ALWAYS been wildly lukewarm...
Even when I'm drunk I skip her songs. I tried to listen to her first song and work my way to her recent stuff and I couldn't even do it I tried to see how she's progressed and I couldn't hear a big difference.
Mediocrity can only take you so far, just look a saweetie. She can still salvage her career she’s just going to have to ACTUALLY try to make an artistic piece of work. She should do that now while she’s still relevant.
I’m wondering why people are rooting for her, so much. I honestly don’t see the potential. And also, music is an art that takes years to perfect and I think you need to be at a certain professional level to receive all this support. I’m also in the art field. Not music, but illustration. And when you start looking for work by contacting art directors, if your work isn’t at a certain professional level, they simply tell you to work on your technical skills like your anatomy, colour theory, composition, etc. and you will not get the job. Ice Spice having all these opportunities, while not having the competence for it, is just weird. There are so many small artists showing true passion and actual competency, who don’t even get half of the exposure she’s getting. It’s just disappointing.
W af
This is why artists development is important.
I do wonder if she’s going to sell more than Coi Leray in the first week
I am concerned as well after she put out the song gimme the light because it’s not giving what it’s supposed to give if you gon sample somebody song it got to be just as good if not better than the original artist

She really just started rapping 3 months ago 😭
You make a great point! She hasn’t grown and I think too many people hyped her up. She might not feel the need to try because everyone is feeding her ego and there’s no motivation to push forward.
I saw her perform last month at Coachella, she had no stage presence or emotion that makes you enjoy an artist. She’s not bad, but she’s need to put in work to get to the next level
That “Fisher” track that she was featured in was the best she’s sounded to me on a song and showed a bunch of progression for me… then here we go with this bullsh*t song
That’s why I really loved cole Bennett “All Is Yellow” album it was different words just brought together
I agree and it’s not that like I like ice spice, her music is catchy. I don’t know her as a person, but I think it’s the fact that when we hear your music right if you use the same beat, it was the word she used versus. let’s say Nicki Minaj, who she collaborated with Nicki Minaj lyrics, lyric lyrics Are so intriguing captivating actually tell the story actually talks about something and then when I spice put that her new music out the lyric was like I’m his poopy. I need a diaper just like so is your audience like 13 to 16-year-olds because no grown woman is gonna be in the car or at a club time up poopy Diaper.
Will never understand how somebody can listen to any of her songs , lyrice ass , beats meme worthy and the same flow every song haha

I think everyone is a hater and music has room for all kinds of artists. It’s the cliché of, “if you don’t like it then don’t pay it any mind, don’t listen to it.” You can have your opinion and everyone agrees with each other that it lacks substance and/or originality. I get it the whole body, the big booty and the hype at first probably helped boost her up if she isn’t an industry plant, but it’s a new voice and take it with a grain of salt and enjoy it or not. Instead of hating on her go support the artist you think deserves her spot. Throw all that energy that way

I think I speak for ALOT of ppl when I say her career is on the line with this album. So far her music has basically been the same a few safe differences but nothing to ambitions nothing showing off her pen work and album is goin to FORCE her to do things differently or it’s jus goin to be terrible
I'm not concerned about her career at all. I see her potentially being relevant for a long time, she has the likability, name-recognition, and cultural relevance needed to garner attention on new music, potentially indefinitely. The success of said music will completely depend on it being good, of course. But I don't see any reason she can't build a long-term career on a diet of singles and EPs.
Someone like Saweetie is a similar case of medium-low talent with a knack for hit-making, and she hasn't released an album in her 6 year career (and has only 2 EPs). But Saweetie could drop a single at any time and it will blow up, if it's a hit. Another example is Tyga, he's never made a great album, 95% of his music is not worth listening to, but he can drop a huge hit at any time.
Munch is a hit, In Her Mood is a hit, Deli is a hit, Boy's a Liar is a hit, Barbie World is a hit, Princess Diana is a hit. That's an incredible output of big songs that most artists would envy, and she's only 2 years in.
Not to mention the revenue and brand opportunities that the exposure generated by hit songs enables (Super Bowl commercials, brand deals, TV appearances, etc.) She currently has a starry commercial that plays nearly every ad break during the NBA playoffs.
Hit songs generate more revenue, and much more fame, than most (non-superstar) artists' entire albums do. I don't see why she ever needs to drop an album full of 15-20 filler songs, when the occasional single or EP can bring massive success and not dilute/overexpose her sound. And I wouldn't worry about her batting average either, because a single big hit every year or two renders a slew of missed singles or even a terrible album irrelevant.
her career was only gonna have one outcome, she got that one style she uses which is tolerable and even decent in a couple songs if the beats good but after some time she was always gonna have to switch it up or people would say every songs the same and her switching it up would be the decider in her future being bright or her fading away. Her new louder sounding voice is very annoying and just does not sound good to put it simply, i predict that she’ll make a couple more half decent songs with her original style then she’ll fade away into something like lil pump is doing right now where he makes a bit of music but his main gig is in other fields outside of music
I believe she should consider switching things up and focusing on releasing more songs like "How High?" for her Debut Album, she released enough hype music for now and people are tired of it. "How High?" stood out to me because of its pop sound, which could attract a new audience of pop listeners even though many people into rap won't like it. The combination of her smooth rap delivery and the pop/R&B production was a winning formula, with inspiring yet playful lyrics. But it didn't got the attention it deserved because Deli overshadowed every songs on her EP. But to be fair, i don't think she'll ever want to try something new.. her most streamed & succesful songs are the ones people claim to "sound the same" so why would she stop something that is working for her..
