Meeran Sahib, I believe he meant "Velaikkaran". Both Nayagan & Velaikaran released in the same year 1987. It is VERY EASY for him to get confused because a majority of Rajini films were just "dishum dishum" movies!! And it is IR's music magic that made these below-average movies average hits or even bigger hits.

Yes, I think he got confused and must have meant "Velaikkaaran" because in the 80's, a majority of Rajini films were just "dishum dishum" movies!! And it is IR's music magic that made these below-average movies average hits or even bigger hits.

Those days Rajinikanth movies were mostly dishum dishum movies with just the exception of 'Sri Raghavendrar', 'Mullum Malarum' etc..... Maybe that's why the confusion! So, it is hard to remember the 'title' of his movies, even for us, LOL! Every time, it was IR's music that RESCUED him.
