  • In this presentation, I am using old photos from the 1960s and 1970s to revisit some areas and discuss some history of the lake project. Thank you for your interest.

    This is so much a part of my teen years. I remember the summer Saturday nights taking our dates for a burger at Burger Queen, a few hours at a Moving Sound party and if all went well it was off to the spillway. Thanks for another great video.

    Incredible, Kentucky history. Great pictures. My family has vacationed on that lake since the early 80's.

    There used to be Stone restrooms where the wooden one is now because I helped build the road and the stone restrooms on top of the dam.

    I always get an eerie feeling being there. Maybe because (years back) I was in the water one night at the spillway and it felt like something grabbed my leg. I came out of that water faster than a streak of lightening and haven't been back in it since. 😂😂😂

    Thanks for all the info, I have never walked down there I have peeped over the edge and i didn't know that it went to the Cumberland river either. Cool beans lol now I know.

    My father owned quite a few acres of land there and the corps of engineers bought it out to build the lake

    I have video from the early / mid 80s my mom took of us & the water was pouring over the splillway
