This song got me hooked to BlackPink. The call backs, the attitude and the raw sexiness could not be denied.

Now you see why they have gone global and the reason so many of us got into kpop. 😅 Highly suggest checking out their solo performances first before watching more group m/v's. Can really see their individual talent. BP and XG top of my Spotify list for the last year and dont see that changing anytime soon.

Blackpink were the ones who made K-pop huge in the US. They’re the biggest GG in the world, and the reason I started listening to kpop.

There's a lot of YG DNA in this song - the Rat -tat-tat-tah's at the end are a throwback to the biggest hit of their predecessors 2NE1 "I Am The Best" from 2011 - ten years later. 2NE1 had even more savage attitude than Blackpink.

    Lisa &jennie rap so good❀

They're influenced by American hip-hop because the genius behind their songs is TEDDY PARK. He is Korean-American rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Park moved to the United States with his family as a young child. When he was 17 years old, Park and his friend Danny flew to South Korea back during summer vacation to audition for YG Entertainment and debuted with the group 1TYM. For so many years after that, he became an in-house producer for YG Entertainment and co-founded The Black Label in 2016. And he made the Blackpink stardom ✚

They also performed at Coachella & MTV Music awards, and were the highlight from last Coachella. They have catchy music & videos ❀

Ahhhh yess the infamous “Pink Venom” which rocked the k-pop world with their comeback. (Personally for me it was comeback of the year in 2022). This catapulted my obsession with Blackpink, as I went to Coachella once they were announced as headliners (First k-pop act to HEADLINE Coachella, the history that these 4 woman made) and their bornpink tour in San Francisco (I’m from the Bay Area so I had to slide through). Now you know why these 4 woman are literal global icons, not just in the k-pop world, but in pop culture in general. Now give me the “How you like that” reaction bro! 😂😂😂

The song has a lot of references to old hip hop music.

  • @Gemma725

    More BLACKPINK please

  • @johnhoran888

entire MV is paying homage to a lot of folks and influences for them and their producer Teddy Park. Biggie, Rhianna, 50 Cent, the list goes on and on.
