- 🟩Oral #contraceptives, often referred to as "birth control pills" or simply "the pill," are a form of medication used to prevent pregnancy. They are taken orally and are one of the most common and effective methods of contraception when used correctly.
Here are some key points about oral contraceptives:
🟩Hormonal Contraception: Oral contraceptives contain synthetic hormones, typically estrogen and progestin or just progestin. These hormones work together to prevent pregnancy in various ways, primarily by inhibiting ovulation (the release of an egg) and thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm from reaching the egg.
🟩Types of Oral Contraceptives:
1. Combined Oral Contraceptives (COCs): These contain both estrogen and progestin.
2. Progestin-Only Pills (Mini-Pills): These contain only progestin and are often recommended for individuals who cannot take estrogen.
3. Effectiveness: When taken consistently and correctly, oral contraceptives are highly effective in preventing pregnancy. However, they require strict adherence to a daily schedule.
🟩Other Benefits: Besides contraception, oral contraceptives can offer other health benefits, such as regulating menstrual cycles, reducing the risk of ovarian and endometrial cancers, and treating conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis.
🟩Prescription Required: Oral contraceptives are available by prescription from a healthcare provider. Your provider will assess your health, medical history, and specific needs to recommend the most suitable type of birth control pill for you.
🟩Side Effects: While many people tolerate oral contraceptives well, they can have side effects such as nausea, breast tenderness, changes in menstrual flow, and mood swings. Serious side effects are rare but can include blood clots and increased risk of certain health conditions.
🟩Routine Use: To maximize their effectiveness, it's crucial to take oral contraceptives at the same time each day. Missing a pill or taking it inconsistently can reduce their ability to prevent pregnancy.
It's important to consult with a healthcare provider to discuss your options, potential side effects, and to determine which type of oral contraceptive is most suitable for your individual needs and health history.

Thanks mam teaching continue
👍👍👍 nice
Nice video but I have some doubt I.e-
1-How estrogen thick the endometrium layer of uterus (Mechanism involve) ?
2-How progesterone think the endometrium layer of uterus so that it use as oral contraceptive (Mechanism) ?
3-Why estrogen use as oral contraceptive but it don't have have role in contraception (because if endometrium layer get thick the change of zygote attach to uterus is increase)??

Ma'am can you please provide notes for pharmacology and toxicology screening methods(m.pharm. pls ma'am
Mam jo continuous use formulation h agar use pure saal bhar menes hoga hi nahi to. Iska mtlb wo lady pregnant h na ..phir hum iss oral contraceptive ki tarah use q kar rahe h
Females mein Menses nhi hone ka ye matlab bilkul nhi h ki lady pregnant hogi. Continuous use Oral contraceptives hormones k level ko change krke unfavourable environment bna denge jisse na toh pregnancy hogi or na hi menses honge.
Mam i have doubt aap bolre ho ki progesterone endometrium ko thin kr deta h but mam progesterone to pregnancy maintain hormone h
Synthetic progesterone, estrogen k endometrial proliferative effect ko counter kr deta h isliye oral contraceptive endometrial thinning kr dete h or endometrium ko unfavourable bana dete h for implantation.
Mam can you please provide notes ...🙂🙂
Madum notes chaiye plz
