About me:
My work focuses on the human figure. I've given drawing and painting workshops and demos throughout the United States and Europe. I have been making realist drawing and painting tutorials for two years now that I release through my Patreon page.
It's the first time I've seen this kind of video with the synthesis of a long drawing. It's phenomenal! Your work only gets better and you have opened a new direction for teaching drawing and painting online. I wish you the best and that it continues to evolve.
Thank you so much 😀
Wow, thank you. I will try to learn them by watching this 2-3 times drawing and rewatch it. More videos like this please.
For sure 👍
This was so well explained, thank you for sharing this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I Just feel nostalgia, because years ago i read a book of Juliette Aristides, and one of the images is that Cast draw for Stephen Bauman, and now, here i am watching Stephen Bauman drawing the same Cast here.
Thats one from the way back machine- must be almost 20 years ago.
Superb explanation sir..... From India❤❤❤
That was amazing. Thank you so much.
These are so amazing! I wish you’d had a CZcams channel when I was a kid….. in the 80’s. ☹️
I would have been SO ahead or my time 😅
be the artist today you dreamed of in the 80s
Wow! An actual positive & encouraging comment! Thank you so much!
In term of art education you are onto something man
🙏🙏🙏
amazingly thorough and detailed explanation that demands a bit more concentration from the viewer, but all the aspiring artists who will ever draw or paint human head could improve massively from watching your instructions, I bet :)
Glad it was helpful!
Are you aware that there is some sort of fight over straight line blocking vs renaissance style drawing of Raphael that insist on drawing what one sees directly, and attacking curves directly.
How do balance the two approaches?
I prefer a synthesis rather than choosing sides. Both approaches have something to teach us.
I was watching a video earlier about why Raphael and other masters uses curves in their drawings. He said that aside from well practiced, famous artists like Raphael had many commissions and therefore must work faster. That's why he used curves. Curves are easy to draw but less precise. If you need to draw in haste, then use curves from the start. But if you want precision and have a lot time, start with lines. We can measure angles easily with straight lines so theyre more accurate. Then gradually create the curve by making small zigzags.
Awesome!
Thank you mr. Bauman
Is there a step 4? 😮
Yep: czcams.com/video/SYx3boXHMbg/video.html
Also they tell me to do it in crosshatching technique but I don't know how to get the values right with it without making the crosshatching look messy
Cross-hatching, like most things with technique, takes time to master. It is mostly a "skill in your hands" issue. Very solvable with practice.
Great😍😍👏👏👍
I didn't understand the shadow edge line. Can you tell me what is it for?
It separates the light from the shadow and is a good strategic landmark between the contours of the subject.
Does anyone know where you can buy/order casts?
Usa or Europe?
What is the name of this character
St. Andrew
Too much nuance lessons
