I downloaded Tandem in order to make some native korean friends who could help me with the Korean, I messaged 7 people,....got ghosted by all.
Back to learning Korean alone, by myself, and lonely. With Go! Billy Korean videos.
Thank you. I am so grateful.

That sounds pretty normal for those apps. I might have to message 100 people to get a dozen to reply, and then among those if I'm lucky I'll still be messaging 1 after a month.

It's honestly about numbers. Out of all the people I've messaged, only 1 person has remained in my circle.
We found out that we lived in the same city. And now we're really good friends!
      Keep trying!

6:43 Question: could we say here ? This was the only example that wasn’t with past tense with this beginner level.

Hi Billy! I had a long break due to some personal reasons, but I'm trying to catch up now :) thanks for the lesson :)

saw the lyrics 설마설마 하면서 in a song. Google translated this as "hopefully". Is this everyday speech or too "theatrical" since it's in a song?

It's simply the way they translated 설마 for that sentence (translators can translate however they'd like), but isn't related to any of these meanings literally.

I think we need more context. What are the lyrics before and after?
